CIsco Switches :: WRP400 Access To Outside Network Gets Hampered
Jul 31, 2012
I have a WRP400 VOIP Cisco router.... The WRP400 seems to hamper my ability to access outside the network over time. If the router is plugged in for an amount of time, my broadband (35mb UPC) gradually tapers down to nothing. As soon as I restart the router, my broadband access shoots back up to the full 35mb.I've been on to UPC numerous times, they say their connection is stable & good..... must be router.I have a DVR (security camera system) that when plugged into the WRP400, seems to exacerbate the issue. It normally takes the router two few days to hamper internet access.when I plug-in the DVR internet access goes from 35mbps to 0.5mbps in a few hours. I've update the Firmware to the latest Version: 2.00.26.

I had bued a WRP400-G2 device today and found 3 problems here (after upgrade firmware to latest). But biggest problem is that I can't open a bug case in TAC becouse I bued device from retailer and have only one year warranty. Is it possible to contact technical support of Cisco by email or Web site? It will be a problem to contact cisco support by call.

This router support bridge mode, but i'm unable to configure it. There's no such option in the web configuration page, but the manual says that disabling nat activates automatic routing mode. Unfortunately all i get when i disable nat is to be unable to reach any wan address.
By watching the generated routing table on the wrp400 (when in NO nat mode) i see that 0.0.0.0 is correctly set up to use the external border router, but any incoming packet from the wrp400 lan port isn't routed there.
Also, i don't get any dhcp from the external router, this means the wrp400 is blocking it.
how to set up a bridge mode between wan and lan ports

I recently moved to a cable ISP and unfortunately had to also change routers in order to take advantage of the VoIP feature (analog phone) they provided me with. Now, the new router, the WRP400, is very limited feature-wise compared to the custom flashed WRT54GL I used to use with my DSL provider. Now the WRT54GL does not have any FXS ports, so I obviously can't just plug my cable modem to the WRT54GL. Therefore, I was hoping to achieve a setup similar to this one:Cable modem => VoIP Router w/ voice only (WRP400) => "Main" router (WRT54GL w/ Tomato)Is there a way to bridge the WRP400 successfully with the WRT54GL keeping only the voice feature enabled on the VoIP router while the WRT54GL takes care of the rest? (Wireless, WAN, port forwarding, etc)

On several calls i noticed that the outgoing audio stops for 5..15 seconds randomly. I'd say it happens on an average of every 5 minutes.
When this happens, i can see that the value after "Call1 Packet error:" increases by one. Why just a wrong packet may stop the outgoing audio for so long? i've much more packet losts (about 3%) but they give me no problem at all.
Since a little and cheaper Handytone HT502 gave me intermittent audio too, but the effect was much better (audio still stops, but in a second it comes back), i wonder if is there something i can do by tweaking the WRP400 settings, I'm still using firmware 1.01.00.

I am able to access the internet. I am running Windows 7 on my laptop and have a wired connection between it and my intergrated router. The internet works fine, but it seems to think that I am not connected to the network. I'm not certain it realized that I even had a network, since when I try to activate media sharing it just gets stuck at "Identifying Network". The whole purpose of this is to be able to play music from my computer on my Xbox 360, alternative solutions for this goal would be good too.

I use a Netgear FS605 Ethernet Switch to connect a wifi modem to my network and thus to the internet. People in that room can jump online via the wifi modem. You can also print to the wireless printer in that room via that wifi modem being local. However, I can no longer print to the wifi printer from anywhere else in my network (I could before I got a new router and wifi modem in there).Would this be a problem with this Switch or with the modem e.g.

I just picked up a pair of 18-port SG200s, and I'm trying to figure out of there's some secret trick to getting CLI access to them? I've upgraded to the latest version of firmware (1.2.7.76) hoping that may work, but no luck.I can tell the guts to support a CLI are there, because writing the config out to a TFTP server shows identical an identical config style to the SG500 I have here.Is there some way to enable it?

I want to setup an home network with a wireless router and use multiple switches for wired connections through out my home. I currently have an Airport extreme hooked up to a cable modem and a leviton gateway hooked up to the Airport. The 2 computers connected to the Leviton are on a windows 7 homegroup and share fine, but won't share or discover any wireless device connected to Airport. My main goal is to have a wireless/wired network with all computers sharing information with each other. I want 2-3 wired switches/gateways with a min of 2 devices connected to each, connected to my wireless router whiich is connected to cable modem.

I'm having some difficulties with the VLAN setup on the SG-200 and the WiFi access point. The access point (a TP-Link WA801N) is only able to access the internet when it is plugged into a port that is on the default VLAN (PVID 1). If I plug it into one of the other VLANs then any clients connected to the WiFi lose access to the internet and cannot access devices on the VLAN. I have previously used this setup with a first generation Cisco WAP4410N. [code]

I am having one problem, I can not ping the SF300-24 or get to the management interface. I am able to access other devices on the SF300-24 Vlan1 from devices on the 3550 Vlan1 and vice versa.

I have an SF 300-08 switch with three V-LANs assigned to it. One is dedicated to the management of the device and the others are development boxes.
Right now, to access the switch, I have to go into the TCP/IP properties and assign a subnet within VLAN1 (subnet linked to the management interface). Then to access the interent, I simply remove the settings, as I have another VLAN linked to a subnet from my router.
Is there a way to configure the switch that allows the ability to access both without configuring the TCP/IP settings to be on the other subnet? I do not think so, but it is worth a try.

In our network two Domain Controllers are configured as the central (S)NTP Servers. For a switch in Layer 3 mode it is quit easy to synchronise with these (S)NTP Servers. But what is actually the best approach for access switches in layer 2 mode, that are connected to the layer 3 switch? The only IP Address they have are part of the management VLAN ID 1 which is not routable. I am actually looking for something like a broadcast without having to put a NTP Server in management vLAN.

I'm having troubles setting up a separate VLAN for wireless on a SG-200-26. My first question is why did Cisco not make the VLAN setup like they have all their other business class switches? Anyways, the Access and General modes on these SG class switches are throwing me for a loop.
Right now I just have one port (g10) on the SG-200 switch that needs to be in VLAN 6, which is our wireless VLAN. All other ports are in their default VLAN, which is 1.
Here's what I've done...
Configured port G1 (trunk to another switch) as the trunk port and Port G10 (attached to WAP) as a general port. All other ports stayed in their default configuration. This is what it looks like now...
Port Mode PVID Operational VLANs
g1 Trunk 1 1U, 6T
g2 Trunk 1 1U
[Code].....
I'm pretty sure port G1 is configured correctly, but I have no idea about what port g10 should look like. Common sense tells me it should be an Access port and assign it to VLAN 6, but apparently you cannot tag the traffic within an Access port on SG switches, which makes it useless because how will other switches recognize what VLAN the packets are in? So the next logical mode would be General mode, which I put in VLAN 6. I switched that port from being 6U (untagged) to 6T (tagged), but neither seemed to work.
VLANs on SG switches, how port g10 should be configured for VLAN 6 traffic.

I have a problem with my SG200, maybe more than one.
I tried to update to 1.3.0.59 this morning. It succeeded and the switch was restarted. After the restart I could no longer log into the switch. I tried to reset the switch but it still will not let me log in. I also tried to log into the switch using the forllowing method but I still cannot log in. I unpluged everything, held the reset for at least 30 seconds, waited 3 minutes, plugged a computer in and set it up to see the switch. All worked there and the login page appeared. It still would not take my login dredentials nor wold it that the default credentials. I has access through the switch but connot configure anything.

I’ve recently brought a SG 300-52 for my company with the main intention of using the L3 switching, I’ve recently gone on a 3day cisco course and came backing thinking i knew what i had to do but as always if you don’t have the experts next to you to answer the questions you soon have problems.
I have setup 3 VLANS, the switch is basically on its default settings and VLAN 1 connects straight to the router/gateway and on the internet but VLAN 2 and 3 do not, they are completely localy contained to their own Non DHCP networks.how do I get VLAN 2 and 3 on the internet and able to talk to each VLAN?
The keywords I’ve came across in my search are static routing between VLANs and InterVLAN, I’m assuming i need to do one of these??

I can't access the WEBGUI on any of them. they are very busy, the network is working fine, but I can't connect to the webgui on them. I've even had problems with a few connecting to them via HyprTerm. I bought 7 of the 12 just last May. If I'd known they were end of life I wouldnt have purchased these, although they are an awesome 48 gig switch for the price.
I need to be able to VLAN these. How can I get back in? Power cycle?

I supplied 3 numbers of SG300 series switches for the sole reason to have inter-vlan routing. I created 4 VLANs in the switches and made one switch as Layer 3 switch and other 2 as Layer 2 switch. Inter-Vlan routing is working fine. I am able to ping PCs from different VLANs. But I am not to access shared folders. Customer has installed Window 2003 server installed and it is in VLAN 1. There are some folders created in this server and it is very important for users to have access to the folders. Also, I am not able to access shared folders in other VLANs. I have created a case with Cisco small business and I got a reply saying that the switches will not support shared folder feature, which I think is not real. I am getting a very time to implement this solution in the network. I have a Sonicwall firewall after Core switch which is connected to ISP.
ISP<----->Sonicwall FW<----->Core Switch<------>Layer 2 switch<------>Layer 2 switch

I have 5 VLANs, I assign VLANs to its ports and make them all Untagged.I created ACLs and a ACE rules for each ACL, and then assigned to the ports. So what i am trying to do is to deny access to from one port to other 4 ports and granted access to any other ports. But it is not working, without last rule "allow any any" it has no access to any ports, with the last rule it grants access to every port even to those I denied.Router in Layer 3 mode, all VLANs have their IP's.
At some moment I was able to work it properly but without using any rules, I just tagged my untagged VLANs to those ports which I wanna get access to. As you can see I want allow ports GE1 - GE4 communicate with 1 to 24 ports but not to each other.
