Wireless Network Stopped Working
Jun 29, 2011My desktop was wirelessly connected to a router. It was working perfect, I did a wired connection from the modem to the desktop and when I tried to get the wireless connection again it has not been possible. When I try network trouble shooting I get DNS server might be unavailable. Been reading around and tried many of the things that I've read but none has worked so far.

Jun 24, 2011I recently reinstalled Vista on my Dell laptop.Before that,I could view and open shared files on my XP desktop, although the PC couldn't see the laptop.Now, I can get online, but can't see the PC in Network places.I've ensured both have same workgroup name.I think it may be due to Norton Internet Security,which I've renewed and reinstalled from new disk.But the former one didn't prevent file-sharing, albeit one way,XP to Vista.Before I uninstall Norton again, is there anything else I should have done after Vista reinstall ?

Jul 24, 2012I have a Century Link modem connected to a Linksys router. I have three computers hooked up wireless. I used another computer to hook up with the ethernet cable because that wouldn't work wireless for some reason. A little while after that, the Linksys network stopped working completely(all three computers could not access the internet). Now I can only connect to the internet if I use a ethernet cable from the modem.

Oct 16, 2011I was working on the computer and internet just stopped, checked the router and it doesn't show up in air-port pref on my Macbook Pro anymore. It was still on my iPhone, and then a few minutes later disappeared from my iPhones network as well. I've tried hard resetting etc, network name doesn't show up anymore, on ethernet to the modem now but tad uncomfortable sitting on the living room since I have the router and modem in my entertainment center.
All the lights work fine, and it lights up like normal but network went "poof".
Typing in ip of 192.168.0.1 just says google chrome cannot connect to that page. I had to play with my Mac for awhile as it wouldn't connect by ethernet till I figured out I had to uncheck passive FTP from Proxies.
Wireless D-Link DWA-525 Network Adapter Randomly Stopped Working On Desktop?
Sep 10, 2012The other day I went to a friends house, came back home, booted up my PC, and my wireless network adapter wasn't working. I've tried everything to fix it.It's a D-Link DWA-525 802.11n Wireless PCI netowrk adapter. On device manager it just says 802.11 Wireless LAN Card with a yellow exclamation next to it. And when I check what the error is, it's either error 31 or 52 at different times, depending what I've tried to do to fix it.I tried downloading the driver for it off the D-Link website, nothing happens at all when I install it. I tried taking it out of my computer and plugging it in. I tried enabling it and disabling it on device manager.I noticed one thing, when it's in my computer the green light at the back that says activity next to it isn't on.

My laptop connects to the internet through this router using wireless and for test purposes through the ethernet port. I installed a new network card {Dynex DX-E102 PCI NetworkAdaptor}in the desktop. When i'm enabling either the old or new card through Control Panel, Network Connections, i get the message "acquirin network address,Firewalled".and it never enables. I ran Malwarebytes and no infections were found. I use AVG anti-virus and Internet Explorer.

Nov 29, 2011I have run three computers on my wireless network for a few years now, and have an HP OfficeJet 6500 Wireless printer that has worked seamlessly on all computers. That is, until I secured my router. I had an open wireless connection that I changed to secure (WPA) a couple of weeks ago and have been unable to connect to my printer wirelessly to print. It will print if connected to USB. The first day I was able to enter in my WPA key just fine, but not since. It doesn't appear to be finding my connection. Oddly enough one of our computers (a laptop) is able to print to this printer so I am not sure. All computers are running Windows XP, I believe with SP3. I use a D-link wireless router. I have tried using the HP solutions to no avail and have checked in the documentation that came with the printer.As an aside, I now appear to also have another wireless connection which is a "computer-to-computer" connection, I believe an ad-hoc connection?

Nov 3, 2011It may be a coincidence but my Broadcom Network Adapter 802.11g stopped working after trying to fix 'unknown device' in Device Manager (It was working perfectly before this).OS: Windows 7 Starter on 'BenQ Joybook Lite U105'.I tried the Windows Network trouble shooter and it didn't work (saying there may be a problem with the driver. I uninstalled the driver and re-installed it (including a possibly newer one) and it didn't work. Within 'Network Connections" the Broadcom wireless adapter is shown as 'disabled' I R-clicked to enable it, a window popped up saying it was enabled but it still showed as being disabled. My feeling is that something is preventing it from being enabled, logically, I would guess. Also went to 'Component Services' and ether started or restarted everything with the word network on it still no luck..My Google search on an other pc , now on day 3, couldn't find anything. (BTW the 'unknown device' which according to the icon, seems to be the joybook itself, is still not fixed and still listed as 'unknown device').

I have an external drive connected to a mac mini which is shared on the network. When transferring folders to or from that external drive, our internet connection stops working until the transfer finishes, then comes back up. I've tested this in a variety of ways. Any transfer of data from shared folders in any combination of devices causes internet to stop working both on wired and wireless devices until the transfer is done, then they all work again. Router firmware: 1.0.03.

Feb 6, 2010I regularly get this message (but not everytime) when I start up Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.
"Dell Wireless WLAN Card Wireless Network Controller stopped working and was closed.a problem caused the application to stop working correctly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available."
Then I get this following message:"Solution Found: Address a problem with your WLAN card.Your WLAN card has stopped working properly. This is a network adapter that allows your computer to connect to a wireless network. To find out if an updated version of your WLAN card is available, contact your device or computer manufacturer."The strange thing is even though I get this message I am still able to connect to the internet via a wireless network. So there is no problem as such it is just annoying to keep getting this message when Windows starts up.I have checked on the DELL Support website and I do have the most up-to-date driver already (Or I think I do).

Jun 1, 2012My internet stopped working all of the sudden on my 2nd computer my 1st computer works fine (using atm) my 2nd computer stopped working all of the sudden it worked fine for about 2 years but the internet just went off for some reason it shows a computer with a yellow triangle with a black exclamation point on the bottom right corner it says connected but with limited connectivity ive tryed everything i know it is a windows XP i even bought a new internet cable today and the computer still does not work im new to these forums.

Linksys WRT300N Just Stopped Working?
Jun 30, 2011My router has been working for close to 4 years now with minor problems, just stopped yesterday, All my PCs lost wifi access and then when I looked at my Linksys WRT300N only the 4 Ethernet port lights were on. Unplugged plugged it again, I connected one of the PCs to the one of the Ethernet port, the PC is reporting that there is nothing connected to the other side. It's been 4 years already, I do have a Linksys wireless G router even older than this which is till working. I guess its spoiled, I don't mind replacing it

I didn't think the issue was with the router so i called the Tech Support people from Brighthouse and they told me to connect directly to the modem so i did that and I had internet. Mar 3, 2013I have a toshiba satellite laptop (windows 7) with wireless on-board and an ethernet cable port. Up until last night, both worked flawlessly since I bought the computer a few years ago.
Now, the wireless still works in three different locations I have tried (i.e. three different networks), but the ethernet cable will not work. I thought it was the ethernet connection on the mobo at first, but then after acquiring a USB-NIC connection, I found I had the exact same problem... I can't connect to my router or even direct to the DSL modem using a ethernet cable. I know my system is good since all my other computers (7) work with wired connections, and my laptop doesn't work on other cables on which other computers do. Essentially, it appears that my computer has lost the ability to get an i.p. address using an ethernet cable of any kind. Both the onboard card and the usb-nic cable tell me they are 'working correctly' in the systems/devices/network adapters section. I have tried disabling one while trying the other. I have tried disabling the wireless while trying either, and still nothing.

Sep 11, 2011I currently own a Sony Vaio Laptop that has been working fine for the last 2 years, I was happily on facebook when all of a sudden, my laptop started lagging massively and it disconnected me from wifi, I was shocked to find that when I tried reconnecting, the laptop decided to stop working for a second and my wifi stopped working completely, every time I disconnect the Ethernet cable from my laptop even though my wireless switch is on, it won't even pick up my Virgin Media superhub I have about 5 meters from my laptop, it indicates that there is NO wifi anywhere, just the ascending bars with a big red X on it

Any other PC on the network can remote desktop to the server and connect. What happened to my machine? This message appears when i try to connect: "Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of the following reasons:
1) Remote access tot he server is not enabled
2) The remote computer is turned off
3)The remote computer is not available on the network

Dec 6, 2011I've had the dir655 for about a year now, and no problems at all, until about a week ago. I went into a couple of online games (Bad Company 2 and World of Tanks) and would have a low ping showing in the game, but every 10-15 seconds, especially in areas with a lot of action, I would get large amounts of lag, making the games unplayable.I would be unable to move or keep getting 'teleported' back 20 feet. I looked into it maybe being the servers, steam in the case of bad company, or my internet provider, but regular internet actions are not affected at all. After searching for a while tweaking settings, turning off antivirus and firewalls, it made no difference.I finally today plugged my modem directly into my pc instead of leaving it on wireless, and all the problems go away. All packet tests and connection tests to my router have come back with no errors. Again, I have never had a problem just browsing the web or watching videos, and usually get more speed on speedtest.net than my provider even advertises. I also upgraded the router firmware.I tried going into my router settings and doing all I could (as I understand it) to have exceptions, port forward, and even did the one thing (can't remember what it's called) where you add one ip address that will have no limitations put on it by the router, and none of this has made it work.
