Linksys Router / PC (Vista 32bit) Won't Connect To Internet When Started

May 21, 2012

I am using Vista 32bit and connect to the internet via a Linksys router and have cable modem. When I start my computer, it will not connect to the internet. I have to disconnect and reconnect my network cable and it starts working fine. This is very annoying. Another similar computer is connected to the same router and doesn't have this problem. how to make my computer connect to the internet automatically without having to do this each time I boot up my PC?

Linksys Wireless Adapters :: WMP54g V2 For Vista 32bit Driver?

Feb 15, 2012

Where I can find a driver for:WMP54g v2 for Vista SP2 32bit It used to work just fine, until I recently reinstalled Vista (and installed all the updates) and now my internet connection is "limited." This means that it connects, but is extremely slow and the connection goes in and out. Here are some random notes about my problem:

Nothing is disabled, there are not any conflicts, and the problem remains even if I restore the OS back to restore point that I created right after reinstalling Vista (and before doing anything else). If I hook the computer directly up to my netgear router via cable, Windows Update will download and install a more recent version of said driver (no improvement).Other laptops in the house have no problems with the wifi. I have turned off both my cable modem and wifi router several times. The adapter does connect to the internet, and the signal strength is "excellent", but if drill down to the properties of the connection, it says that IPV4 is connected to the internet, but IPV6 is "limited." This then results in a very weak connection to the internet that goes in and out. I have tried unchecking IPV6 per some recommendations, but that did not work. I have tried resetting everything (winsock, etc) via command prompt. Firewall is off, no antivirus software

Dell :: No Icon On Inspiron 1525 Running Vista Premium 32bit

Aug 25, 2012

I have followed instructions and installed R140135.., also R159805

I have not received any error messages. Fn+F2 did not work, so I tried to activate BTTray within both of the driver programs. Nothing has happened. My Bluetooth devices (via Control panel) is empty. Bluetooth settings displays nothing.

I am trying to transfer photos from my Nokia phone. The phone cannot find the laptop. If I slide the button next to the CD drawer I get visibility of Wireless, or accidently turn it off (!).Under Dell drivers I can see WIDCOMM, R14035 & R159805.If I type BTTray.exe, it takes me there but double clicking it does nothing. Ditto if I run R159805twon.

Toshiba Laptop Won't Connect To Internet (Windows 7 32bit)

Feb 15, 2012

I'm using a Toshiba Satellite L455D-S5976 which is running on Windows 7 (32 bit). I've owned it for over a year now without any difficulties, but it's suddenly unable to access the internet. The wireless icon in the tray shows that it's connected to the router (a Netgear N300), but that it has no internet access. I ran the Network Troubleshooter and received the message: "Your computer is correctly configured but the device or resource (www.microsoft.com) is not responding."

I thought that it may have been a problem with the cable modem (a Motorola SB5101) or with my ISP (Comcast), but I found that the Wi-Fi was working just fine on my cellphone.I tried connecting the laptop via an ethernet cable (to both the router and the modem), but it still wouldn't work. I tried turning everything off and then on again, and still nothing.I then started the computer in Safe Mode with Networking. In this mode, it WAS able to connect to the internet. I don't know what exactly this means, or where to go from here.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Recently Started To Randomly Shut Down

Feb 20, 2012

My E4200 recently started to randomly shut down. To say the least this is very aggravating. Nothing has changed, location still the same and it seems to be overheating or in the very least getting warm. In the last  It will also shut down multiple times a day too. I have done some reading and am beginning to regret this purchase.

THen no wireless or wired connections. COuld not pull an IP address.Pulled power to router couple times and it worked great at first again then degraded like before.Held reset button for 5 secs to reset to factory defaults, now the setup display is missing all the html coding-no menu list. All in raw format.Am connected to port 1 via cat 5 to my laptop with no connections except the internet connection to the cable modem. Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200v1 Started Dropping Connection Terribly

Apr 12, 2012

So I bought this new E4200v1 about a week ago and since yesterday it started dropping connection terribly. After checking Cisco Connect it seemed to have a Firmware update which I did and after it was done I decided to do a factory reset since I read somewhere that it works. When the router came back on for a second I saw an unsecured SSID, but then it turned into an SSID called panelist-ssid with a password called google-4panel which is definitely not the default. Also, when I try to access the router webpage to configure it, the password is not the old one nor the default Username: blank    Password: admin credentials. I am currently connected to it via the button on the back that allows me to connect without password. Another thing is that I uninstalled Cisco Connect and when I try to install at 25% it says it cannot find my router and ask for SSID + password which I input yet it fails.

I have a Linksys E2500 and recently the power led light on the back of the router started blinking.  The router itself seems to be working fine.  I can access the router and the router seems to be assigning the IP addresses fine.  I did look up the issue on the knowledge base and tried all the solutions but the light is still blinking.  Not sure what to do anymore.

Vista Laptop Can't Connect To Internet

Sep 7, 2011

My girlfriend has just had Virgin Media installed in her house. She has a vista laptop which she is trying to connect wirelessly to the network. She can connect to the network (she says) but cannot use the internet. She has made sure she is typing in the security key correctly.I got her to try different encryption methods and she says these did not work.Tried resetting the network stack.Tried flushing DNS.Made sure Obtain IP and DNS automatically are checked.Tried setting up a wireless connection manually. There may be other things i've suggested but cant remember at the moment as well.Connecting via an ethernet cable works so its definitely a wireless problem. Her phone works using the wireless network ok, its just the laptop.

D-Link DIR-601 :: Cannot Connect To Internet With Vista

Apr 9, 2011

This is strange.  I have a client who owns the DIR-601 router.  It connects to a COX cable modem.

The wireless side works fine.  I can access the internet using wireless connection with no problem. I can connect my Linux laptop both wired and wireless no problem.

However, and this is the puzzle, I cannot connect his Vista computer to the internet.  It worked for a while then just stopped.  From the Network and Sharing screen we can see a good connection to the router, but a big red X from the router to the internet.

I can ping the router with no problems, but I can't ping anything on the net either using a name (www....) or an ip address.

We changed from dhcp to static ip but that didn't work either.  Changed the DNS to the ip address of the COX DNS just in case that was the problem.  Still the same.

I have had COX over to check everything out and everything is fine on their side.

I have Googled all over the place and not found anything that's useful.  I did find one post about a 625 that said to change the WAN speed from auto to 10 or 100, but from what I see the 601 doesn't have this capability.

Windows Vista Won't Connect To The Internet Wirelessly

Mar 8, 2011

The problem I was having was my laptop wouldn't connect to my new router provided by them, it would say it was connected but 'Local Only'. Turned out in the end all I needed to do was update my Atheros and Realtek drivers. Months down the line, now having the same symptoms, I decide to update my drivers only to find out there are no updates available and my drivers are up to date and working. The only other thing that may be the root to the this problem is the fact last night I connected to my girlfriends router at her house with this same laptop. Now I come back to my router this evening and I'm having these symptoms I had months ago. It's also saying the network is 'Undentified' eventhough it SAYS it's connected. It doesnt allow me to access the internet at all. I removed the history of my girlfriends connection on manage wireless networks, including my own.

Vista Workstation Unable To Connect To Internet?

Jun 29, 2011

I have a Vista Workstation that out of the blue today stopped connecting to the internet after applying the windows updates. I have gone back and rolled them out but it still will not connect. It is hardwired (Ethernet) to a cisco e4200 router that gets its internet from a motorola surfboard cable modem. I tried it with a wireless connection and had the same issue.Other computers on the network work fine both connected with ethernet and wireless. It won't assign an IP even though dhcp is enabled on the router, so I assigned a static one and it sees the local network just fine, I'm copying files from it to my NAS server without a problem.

Unable To Connect To Internet (windows Vista)

Nov 5, 2011

Was able to connect to my network fine a couple of days ago. Now It doesn't want to work.

Everytime I try it seems like I connected (the little blue globe symbol displays) but when I try and go to a webpage, the connection times out or moves slow. When I run diagnose and repair it tells me that this computer has "limited or no connectivity" even though I'm able to connect to other networks. Selecting the "automatically get new IP settings" and "reset network adapter" options don't work. After selecting these earlier it was telling me "unable to connect to primary DNS server", then it was telling me "windows has confirmed this computer is currently experiencing a network connectivity problem". Now it's telling me there is no problem in spite of the slow connection.

I don't think my wireless adapter is the issue, I'm able to connect to other networks fine. I don't think the router/modem is the issue, there's another computer in the house (that I don't own) as well as my xbox hooked up wireless to it with no problem.
