I just bought the E4200 routher at best buy a few weeks ago. I got it all setup how I want it. Its been working fine then about a day ago it started to stop working at random. All internet just stops working. Wired and Wifi. I have to either wait for it to work again or restart the router.
View 7 RepliesI'm having a bit of trouble with my e4200, It keeps on "dropping" connection, and by dropping I mean it constantly around 3-5 minutes the internet stops working with all my computers, it's connected by wifi with 2 PC's, and 1 PC is wired with an ethernet cable, and I also have 2 mobile devices connected at it. The internet would start working again within 30s, to 1m, but that it drops soon.Methods I've done to fix it:
-Updated firmware to the latest one
-Set the MTU to 1400
-Reset it, (30 second press)
-Rebooted, (Cooled down, doesn't really run hot just a little warm)
-Restored to factore defaults
Router randomly stops working and sometimes reconnects by it self and sometimes I have to manual reset the router. Also I only get 2-3 bars wireless. Is my router not configured properly or damaged?

I have an E4200 Linksys router. Furthermore I have a desktop running on Windows7 connected to the router with a wire. No problem there. I can connect to the Intenet via the E4200 and a modem.Then I have a notebook also running on Windows7. Until yesterday it was wireless (2,4 GHz) connected to the router and to the Internet, but now I can see the router on the networklist (so there is connection), but it will not make contact to the Internet. If I hook up the notebook with a line to the router it works OK.Then I have an iPad which makes a wireless connection to the Internet (via the router) for the 5 GHz option, but it does not make a connection with the 2,4 GHz option anymore (before yesterday this worked well). I did not change any settings on the Linksys or other network options, Can an update from McAfee make a difference (only for 2,4 GHz?).
I've been using an 802.11 b/g USB wireless network adapter card with my computer to use in conjunction with an AT&T 2Wire router,which is about 20 or 30 feet away off in another room.After about 10 minutes on average, the adapter will stop transferring data suddenly, and it will stay that way for a while. If I do nothing, then sometimes it will start up again after several more minutes, but instead of waiting, I usually will select "Repair" from the Wireless Network Connection pop-up menu, which also works to get it started again. The problem though, naturally, is that after another little while, like about 10 minutes again, it will short out all over again. Sometimes, very rarely, it will stay working for up to maybe an hour, and sometimes, it can short out yet again within a few seconds.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThis happens intermittantly. This results in most connections (but not all) being dropped. I will be unable to connect to web servers. My connection to videogame servers will drop. However, AIM will stay connected. These were done simultaneously. The same thing happens with my Cisco AE1200 and a D-Link 802.11g adapter I have. Disconnecting my adapter and reconnecting it solves the problem. I have tried doing a factory reset on the router and installing the latest firmware. It seems to happen more frequently when I am doing a lot of throughput (downloading a game on Steam, for instance) but other times it will happen when all I am doing is playing a game (like Tribes Ascend) which uses very little data. This is extremely frustrating. When I pay more than $150 for a piece of networking equipment, I expect it to last more than 3 years.

(My router says Version 1.9).Had this router about a month. It works fine. Using it in Wireless mode wpa2 security. Get excellent speeds. HOWEVER> It freqently drops connectivity and fails to allow wireless clients to connect at all. (You can see the SSID via wireless clients, but not connect to it). To restore it, I have to disconnect from Power, wait a moment, then reconnect to power. It recycles and connections are working again with no problems (UNTIL NEXT TIME). Seems to happen every few days.
I checked the web site and I appear to have the most current firmware.I have a Trendnet router on different channels in another part of the house which has never had this problem. I disconnected it to test if it was somehow involved, but the TP-Link router had same symptoms when it (trendnet) was not connected. Our Actiontec Router (VERIZON provides this as base connectin to them serving the Cable TV DVRs also) ) has its wireless disabled and is the DHCP server provider to the home network. DHCP is disabled on the TP Link.
I have a windows vista pc networked to a second pc. I have wirelessly networked internet to 2 laptops. I have an actiontec wireless modem by verizon. All of a sudden my host pc started randomly losing internet connection, but the wireless laptops still have a signal. View 11 Replies View RelatedI have noticed a problem recently that our Remote Access VPN will randomly stop working. I will be able to connect and enter my Username+Password and it says Connected, but I cannot ping Remote Resources. If I check VPN Client Statistics, it shows Many Packets Sent/Encrypted, but None Received. It seems this problem affects all devices at once, but leaves the L2L tunnels intact.
It seems to randomly start working for a while, and everything seems fine until it stops working again. I verified that it is not a firewall problem, and it occurs on multiple ISPs and computers.
We also have 2 Static L2L Tunnels, and 1 Dynamic L2L Tunnel all of which operate flawlessly. All sites/remote users use split tunneling.
Below is the config, I just added the keepalives on the RA Tunnel to see if it would work, I haven't noticed any difference yet.

I am trying to figure out whats wrong with my parents apple airport router. Its connected into an Arris TM402P/110 cable modem. It randomly stops working, the network is there and shows up fine but you cant connect to it. It might work for a day or 2 and then just stops. I am trying to figure out if there is a configuration issue or the airport hardware is just failing. I am not sure where to start troubleshooting. The event log for the modem isnt much help, the following message shows up occasionally:
No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out
Whats interesting is my mom plugged her desktop right into the cable modem and then after plugging it back into the airport the wireless was working again. Is it possible there is a DHCP issue? If the hardware is failing what would be a good replacement for the airport?
About a month ago, my E2000 Cisco Router stopped working, just after warranty expired (how awesome!) where as either WiFi worked or Wired but not both. I know Cisco will normally grant you a grace period (from experience) but sending it to the Czechs and pay for postage.. wait 4 weeks and then have internet again.. is not an option (did that last time)So this time.. I spend a bit more and bought the E4200. 4 weeks later, the IP changes from a 192 to a 17x .. pretty anoying when being abroad and needing to access the NAS since you do not know what IP it took.. I restored the config upon return.. and all seemed normal again and I left for the next trip. One day later (today).. again.. no connection.. wife has internet she says.. so again the same issue.. the **bleep** thing took another IP.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got this weird problem with my E4200 in that I've set everything up to get the maximum 450mbps link rate, but it randomly falls back to 300mbps and I don't know why. I can get it to connect at 450mbps again if for example I go into the wireless settings and toggle the channel that is used, or if I go into QOS and disable then enable WMM, but it seems that after a period of time that the router goes back to 450mbps anyway.
I'm not sure if this is an issue with the router or my wireless card. I'm guessing it's the router since inssider reports the max link rate at 300mbps at times despite it being set up for 450.I'm using firmware 1.0.01 as there is a bug in later versions that means the WAN port cannot transfer above 80mbps. My wifi adapter is an Intel 6300.
My E4200 recently started to randomly shut down. To say the least this is very aggravating. Nothing has changed, location still the same and it seems to be overheating or in the very least getting warm. In the last It will also shut down multiple times a day too. I have done some reading and am beginning to regret this purchase.

I have a ADSL connection to the internet, last router I had did not have the same issue. I also have a Cisco ASA 5505 for work connected to the ADSL modem and is not experiencing any disconnect issues. All computers connected to the router is losing internet connection, local lan keeps working. The internet connection gets back again after a 10-15 minutes or when resetting / turning off the router.
I have tried the following;
Changed ethernet cables
Disconnected the ASA 5505
Turned off wireless
Upgraded the firmware
Reseted to factory settings
Randomly, the cisco light blinks and i lose my internet connection. I cant even ping the router. After 30 secs it works again. But this is annoying, i got disconnected 4 times today, unnaceptable. Im connected with wired ethernet. My firmware is 1.0.03.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was quite excited about E4200 I got yesterday. Everything works perfect except front LED light start blinking a few hours later. Don't know why it happens in a sudden and non-stop. After several tries, I found that disabling SSID broadcast for both 2.4 and 5GHz stops the blinking.Of course, before doing that, I upgraded firmware to 1.0.02, reset to factory defaults and finally set up E4200 manually rather than using Cisco Connect. Now the LED light is continuously lit.

It has been working perfectly for the last few months until yesterday when I noticed none of my wireless devices could connect. The SSID was still being broadcast and my computers that were connected through an ethernet cable were still able to access the internet fine. Eventually I pressed the red reset button on the back of the router, which reset my router name, password, etc. I set everything back up and was able to connect again. Several hours later the wireless stopped working again. When I launched the Cisco Connect software I was prompted to update some software (possibly the router firmware) so I did that. After that I was able to connect to wireless again. This morning I woke up and wireless was not working again. This time I changed the password for the router and then I was able to connect to wireless again. I tried to change the router password back to the original password and I couldn't connect anymore. When I changed the router password back to the new password I could connect again.

The only way to get it to work again is to reboot the router. I’m running the “latest" firmware, which is an oxymoron considering it's been over 12 MONTHS since Linksys updated the code... Which is appalling considering this appears to be their flagship wireless N router.
View 5 Replies View RelatedRight now I have my computer (iMac early 2012 summer purchase) plugged directly into the wall via ethernet cable for internet access. I have only begun doing this in the past week because my E1200 wireless router has stopped working properly. I have reinstalled and reset to factory settings and set up with Cisco Connect and setup manually over the past week troubleshooting every possible way I have ever known how. My internet, obviously, is working. And when I set up the wireless network it connects properly and obtains an IP address and the lights on the back of the unit light up correspondingly and correct. But I cannot connect to the internet via the router, wirelessly or plugged directly into it. Yet when I take the internet cable and plug it straight into my computer it works.Mainly just need to know if this can be fixed or if I need to go return this unit and get a replacement. The router was purchased two months ago and has not had any issues since I first set it up until a couple of weeks ago and my phone is using up all of my cellular data plan without being connected to my wi-fi...
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've tried all sorts of settings, and I'm still holding out that its a setting possibly, but I have a E3500 and devices on both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz... Most of them, probably when idle, seem to stop working over WIfi. They still have decent connection, but every internet related request just times out. Disable and reinable the wifi and it works great again.
Could this be defective wifi radios? or could it really be interference? I have it happening on multiple devices. Also, I'm not far away from the router when it occurs, and when I reconnect, it seems to work just fine for a while. Basically the big problem is on the cell phones and tablets because I'll miss notifications... I'll turn off the wifi and turn it back on when I use the device next, then a flood of notifications will come in. Again, it's not just a phone thing, tablets and laptops have the same problem, that's just the main reason I want it fixed.
I just bought a dlink 655 from amazon and for some reason the router stops broadcasting on wifi. I cannot connect to it through my laptop or ps3. The only thing that fixes this is removing the plug from the back of it and putting it back in, once i do this, the SSID shows up once again and all is well until the next day (or 2 days after)

Also everyone get unidentified network and later its set to public network.We are using a Sitecom switch LN-120. I have to unplug this switch, then restart the router to fix the problem each time. Then I can plug it in again and everything is fine.The router will not restart (does not go further then 2nd blinking LED.) if I do not unplug the switch.

But when I enable NAT in the settings, there is no way to edit NAT entries that I've set before under firmware 2.0.37.
Just upgrade my Thinkpad to win7 64bit, but seems the wireless doesn't support by E4200 now, upgraded 1.0.03 and latest intel 14.2.0.10 for wlan card but still not working. Tried the TP with USB WN111v2 is not problem at all.4965AG works perfect in office WPA2 AES LEAP and netgear router.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI cannot get the Guest Network feature to work.Even though Guest SSID is enabled, it does not show up on any devices attempting to connect. Manually connecting by entering the Guest SSID fails (not recognized). On devices with the primary 5 and 2.4 GHz configured they do see the third network but without SSID (unknown) and are also unable to connect to it manually using the SSID.I did not try this before 1.0.02. Have rebooted modem and verified all configs (multiple times). The network is live in an office and can't keep screwing with it or drastically changing its settings.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to an E4200 from a D-Link DIR-655. I cannot seem to get my desktop to connect to the E4200 at 1 GBS. My adapter is set to "auto negotiate" but will only connect at 100 MBS. If I try forcing the adapter setting to 1 GBS, it never connects. I can swap out my E4200 with the DIR-655 and it will connect at 1 GBS just fine. I am using a CAT 5E cable. Is there something I'm missing here or is the E4200 just more finicky than the the DIR-655?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been using the E4200 router with few issues for the past 5 months. I have the latest firmware installed and have 1 pc running Windows 7, a sling box device and USB storage drive connected in the rear and 7 wireless devices.
Over the past week, others in my household have been complaining of not being able to connect wireless. The other day, the connection quit for both wireless and wired connections. I thought it had something to do with my ISP (Comcast), and after I made a direct connect from my modem to my PC, the problem is the E4200. After unsuccessfully troubleshooting, I unplugged the router for a few hours.
Trying a few hours later, I was able to reconnect all connections. However, that lasted for a day and has not been able to connect. I did a reset and when going through the setup process, it says that it cannot connect to the internet. The only time I have any lights or activity on the internet port is when the router is booting up and then it goes off. The rest of the ports are working properly. Likewise, the link light on my modem shows no activity when connected to the E4200. The only connection I can make is to the browser utility.
I am now using another wireless router until I can get this resolved.
The latest Firmware for the E4200 states that there is now the ability to attach a printer to the USB port of the router. I am using a Mac, so that may be the problem, but I have followed the instructions on how to add the printer and it is not happening. It's possible that the MAC Firmware was not given the ability to add a USB printer like the PC Firmware upgrade.

I am having a trouble with my router, our modem is the one that is connected to a TV box and it comes with a wifi function(a modem with a wifi function). I am not sure how to set it up, so I connected it to E4200 which is located in another room using CAT6 flat cable and set it to "Bridge mode". But whenever I open the TV box, the wifi won't work, and when it's closed, it works. :s how weird is that. Are there any problems? The modem with wifi will always work either way I open/close the TV box, but the E4200 wifi will only work when I close the TV box. I asked my service provider about this and they tell me it's not their problem anymore.
