I just bought the E4200 routher at best buy a few weeks ago. I got it all setup how I want it. Its been working fine then about a day ago it started to stop working at random. All internet just stops working. Wired and Wifi. I have to either wait for it to work again or restart the router.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco Linksys E1000 wireless router. It has been working perfectly for the last few months until yesterday when I noticed none of my wireless devices could connect. The SSID was still being broadcast and my computers that were connected through an ethernet cable were still able to access the internet fine. Eventually I pressed the red reset button on the back of the router, which reset my router name, password, etc. I set everything back up and was able to connect again. Several hours later the wireless stopped working again. When I launched the Cisco Connect software I was prompted to update some software (possibly the router firmware) so I did that. After that I was able to connect to wireless again. This morning I woke up and wireless was not working again. This time I changed the password for the router and then I was able to connect to wireless again. I tried to change the router password back to the original password and I couldn't connect anymore. When I changed the router password back to the new password I could connect again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis happens intermittantly. This results in most connections (but not all) being dropped. I will be unable to connect to web servers. My connection to videogame servers will drop. However, AIM will stay connected. These were done simultaneously. The same thing happens with my Cisco AE1200 and a D-Link 802.11g adapter I have. Disconnecting my adapter and reconnecting it solves the problem. I have tried doing a factory reset on the router and installing the latest firmware. It seems to happen more frequently when I am doing a lot of throughput (downloading a game on Steam, for instance) but other times it will happen when all I am doing is playing a game (like Tribes Ascend) which uses very little data. This is extremely frustrating. When I pay more than $150 for a piece of networking equipment, I expect it to last more than 3 years.

I have ran a diagnostics test using the Intel PROset/wireless tools program and it states on the ping test that there is no response from the default gateway and the DHCP server.

Laptop is on 5ghz, running speed at 300. I'm running the E3000 in dual mode (running 2.4ghz and 5ghz at the same time.) I have 2 different network names mjames5gz and mjames24gz.
In my basement, I have a laptop running on 5ghz and an IP camera running 2.4 ghz. the signal in the basement is on the low side for both. Under Wireless network connection, I am getting around 100 on Speed vs.300 on the laptop.... The basement is fully finished so I can't run cables to the basement easily. What could I buy so I can stream videos from laptop to laptop on 5ghz. Would also be nice to have the 2.4ghz signal boosted as well
When I go upstairs, both laptop read 300 ghz and I can stream between them just fine.
I have an E1000 router that's been fine until a few weeks ago. I have access but my guests are unalbe to get access. One of my guests looks like she's connected but can't acess the internet.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought a dlink 655 from amazon and for some reason the router stops broadcasting on wifi. I cannot connect to it through my laptop or ps3. The only thing that fixes this is removing the plug from the back of it and putting it back in, once i do this, the SSID shows up once again and all is well until the next day (or 2 days after)
View 2 Replies View RelatedGot my E4200 a month ago, and have since been experiencing problems with movie streaming between my server and my Popcorn Hour A110. All kinds of movies stutters randomly and becomes unwatchable. Streaming of the same movie from my server to my laptop (connected wirelessly) causes no stuttering.
I have been doing some troubleshooting and determined that it is not the server's fault (it achieves transfer speeds of 60+ MB/s through Samba). I have also ruled out the possibility that the Popcorn Hour is the faulty component.
Lastly, I just tried switching from the E4200 to my old D-Link DIR-655. This has effectively removed the stuttering, leading me to conclude that it is the E4200's fault.
I recently upgraded from a Linksys WRT54G2 that was a dream and gave me no problems at all to a Linksys E1000 that isn't behaving. Every hour or so it loses its PPPoE connection to the internet, so that both wired and wirelessly connected computers lose access. My laptop is also thrown entirely off the wireless network all together.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an E2500 with the latest firmware upgrade (1.0.03). My configuration is simple, I have a fixed IP from my ISP with fixed DNS servers. I have one computer connected via cable and one connected via wireless and a laptop that gets connected on occasion wirelessly as well. I also have an android phone that I sometimes have the networking turned on and sometimes not. That doesn't seem to be affecting the router either as I've lost connections under both circumstances. The only thing I have different is I clone the MAC address as the ISP has my IP linked to my old Linksys MAC.
The problem is I randomly lose connection to the internet, the home network is still up it's just the internet goes down. I could be on the computer or not, sometimes while browsing sometimes after I browse for a while sometimes before I get started. Fortunately its not happened during one of my online games but it has happened just after I log off the game. It usually happens a couple of times a day.
my E2500 drops the internet connection randomly. I have no issues with wired or wireless access to the home network (sharing files, sharing printers etc...). To fix the problem I log into the router and do a soft reboot from the status page.
I posted this earlier and the only response I received was a cut and paste answer to make some changes to my wireless settings. Seriously doubting the relevance of the post I made the changes anyway and as expected nothing changed, the router still loses access to the internet without any warning. When I replied that I hadn't thought that that was the problem but that I HAD made the changes mentioned and as I expected it DIDN'T work I get no response.
I have the router plugged in for internet but do not know the password for the wireless connection. i am running a mac.
i have also tried using the standard admin or password as passwords to get in and am unable too.
I have a Westel model 327W for my DSL service. I received it from my internet provider (Bellsouth). I recently purchased a Cisco E1000 router for what I though was a easy connect. For two days off and on I have tried to connect them but I have not been able. I'm not very computer smart but I do know the basics. I have managed to cripple one desktop and a laptop that had wireless or ethernet to the point the system tells me they are not equiped with wireless cards and my wireless range on the computer I'm typing on is about 5 feet. How to connect the Westel DSL to the Cisco router.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with my laptop. Although, from my provider, it should be possible to establish a connection at 25'000 kbit/s (download), max speed is at about 800 kbit/s. I'm only about 20 feet away from where the router is located and I don't use any phones (except for a cell phone). I read on this board, that I might have to change the wireless settings on the router and change the radio band but didn't manage to do so. I'm using Mac osx and a wireless connection.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've tried all sorts of settings, and I'm still holding out that its a setting possibly, but I have a E3500 and devices on both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz... Most of them, probably when idle, seem to stop working over WIfi. They still have decent connection, but every internet related request just times out. Disable and reinable the wifi and it works great again.
Could this be defective wifi radios? or could it really be interference? I have it happening on multiple devices. Also, I'm not far away from the router when it occurs, and when I reconnect, it seems to work just fine for a while. Basically the big problem is on the cell phones and tablets because I'll miss notifications... I'll turn off the wifi and turn it back on when I use the device next, then a flood of notifications will come in. Again, it's not just a phone thing, tablets and laptops have the same problem, that's just the main reason I want it fixed.
I have a brand new E4200 constantly losing internet connection (both wireless and wired). I have a ADSL connection to the internet, last router I had did not have the same issue. I also have a Cisco ASA 5505 for work connected to the ADSL modem and is not experiencing any disconnect issues. All computers connected to the router is losing internet connection, local lan keeps working. The internet connection gets back again after a 10-15 minutes or when resetting / turning off the router.
I have tried the following;
Changed ethernet cables
Disconnected the ASA 5505
Turned off wireless
Upgraded the firmware
Reseted to factory settings
i have a new EA6500 with latest firmware that is randomly preventing connections to a Xerox ColorQube printer. The printer is hardwired to the router. I had statically assigned the IP address (as i do with all my "permanent" devices), but tech support suggested i go to DHCP assigned with a reservation, so that is how the network configuration on the printer currently stands. I have a number of wireless laptops on the network. When the connection drops or is prevented, none of the machines can access the printer. I've turned laptop firewall and antivirus off to ensure that was not the issue. When the connection drops, i can no longer ping the device and it shows unavailable in the devices and printers console of Windows 7. However, i CAN still ping the device from the diagnostics tab of the troubleshooting page on the router. In other words, the router can ALWAYS ping the device, regardless if the laptops can. This tells me the connection between router and printer is fine. It also tells me the network interface of the printer is functioning. Something is preventing communication between laptop and printer and the ONLY thing in between the two is the router. I've also tried throttling the speed back between the two. The printer is capable of 1000base-t full duplex, which is where it normally runs, but i stepped this down to 100base-t full duplex just to see if it made a difference. I've also tried turning IPv6 on/off to see if it made a difference.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have a situation with 20 4410N's They are connected through a 2960 switch. They runned for about a year with no problems. We use the WiFi system with 10 cisco wireless ip phones, several workstations (5-10) and a few mobile devices.
Three weeks ago we took 10-15 iPads in commission (almost equally divided over the AP's), since then the trouble started. Several accesspoints stop randomly responding a few times a, day. We updated to the latest firmware (2.0.4.2), but that did not solve the problems.
Were using 3 SSID's WPA2 encryption and fixed IP's for the AP's. If we can't get a hold on this we have to replace all the AP's by other ones.
I have the E1000 Linksys Router and I am using a network cable to connect to my Sony Blu-ray BDP-S370. When I watch HULU through the player it kills the entire internet connection for all PCs. I have to unplug the router in order to restart it. Everything will also work just fine until the next crash. Here's the thing, I'll watch a bit of the show and see the commercials and the router will only crash when it comes back to the show. If I watched 100 commercials they would not crash, but as soon as it returns to the show CRASH. Restart and we watch again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using an 802.11 b/g USB wireless network adapter card with my computer to use in conjunction with an AT&T 2Wire router, which is about 20 or 30 feet away off in another room. After about 10 minutes on average, the adapter will stop transferring data suddenly, and it will stay that way for a while. If I do nothing, then sometimes it will start up again after several more minutes, but instead of waiting, I usually will select "Repair" from the Wireless Network Connection pop-up menu, which also works to get it started again. The problem though, naturally, is that after another little while, like about 10 minutes again, it will short out all over again. Sometimes, very rarely, it will stay working for up to maybe an hour, and sometimes, it can short out yet again within a few seconds.

(My router says Version 1.9).Had this router about a month. It works fine. Using it in Wireless mode wpa2 security. Get excellent speeds. HOWEVER> It freqently drops connectivity and fails to allow wireless clients to connect at all. (You can see the SSID via wireless clients, but not connect to it). To restore it, I have to disconnect from Power, wait a moment, then reconnect to power. It recycles and connections are working again with no problems (UNTIL NEXT TIME). Seems to happen every few days.
I checked the web site and I appear to have the most current firmware.I have a Trendnet router on different channels in another part of the house which has never had this problem. I disconnected it to test if it was somehow involved, but the TP-Link router had same symptoms when it (trendnet) was not connected. Our Actiontec Router (VERIZON provides this as base connectin to them serving the Cable TV DVRs also) ) has its wireless disabled and is the DHCP server provider to the home network. DHCP is disabled on the TP Link.
I have an asa5505 with software version 7.2(3) that randomly stops responding. The firewall sits in front of a public facing webserver that handles a significant amount of traffic.I was wondering that would happen when the asa5505 reaches or exceeds the 4000 connections per second limit... i.e. would this possibly explain why my asa5505 stops responding and requires a power cycle in order to start working again. when it "crashes" it does not respond on either the outside or inside interfaces.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWe have a Cisco 1811 which is running a number of different services. Let me try and explain how everything is working first.
On routed port 0, we have a statically configured fiber connection which routes a public /28. No BGP, etc just default routes. The /28 is divided into a two /29's, once of which is routed to Vlan3.
On routed port 1, we have a PPPoE DSL connection, with a single static IP.
Vlan1 is a 192.168.1.x subnet
Vlan2 is a 192.168.2.x subnet
Vlan3 is a y.y.y.x/29 subnet(the routed subnet)
Vlan1 and Vlan2 PAT the static fiber IP(not the other /29) along with the DSL. The other /29 is used for a few static NAT translations and SSLVPN
There is a zone based firewall in play, as well as a few route-maps to redirect traffic out certain interfaces on the inside.
The problem is, the fiber IP randomly stops responding to ping/ssh, however I can ping the interface IP assigned to Vlan3 from the WAN. DSL never loses connection in this manner.
I can normally reestablish "normal" connectivity by connecting to the DSL and bringing down the fiber and routed vlan in a specific order.
I have noticed a problem recently that our Remote Access VPN will randomly stop working. I will be able to connect and enter my Username+Password and it says Connected, but I cannot ping Remote Resources. If I check VPN Client Statistics, it shows Many Packets Sent/Encrypted, but None Received. It seems this problem affects all devices at once, but leaves the L2L tunnels intact.
It seems to randomly start working for a while, and everything seems fine until it stops working again. I verified that it is not a firewall problem, and it occurs on multiple ISPs and computers.
We also have 2 Static L2L Tunnels, and 1 Dynamic L2L Tunnel all of which operate flawlessly. All sites/remote users use split tunneling.
Below is the config, I just added the keepalives on the RA Tunnel to see if it would work, I haven't noticed any difference yet.

I am trying to figure out whats wrong with my parents apple airport router. Its connected into an Arris TM402P/110 cable modem. It randomly stops working, the network is there and shows up fine but you cant connect to it. It might work for a day or 2 and then just stops. I am trying to figure out if there is a configuration issue or the airport hardware is just failing. I am not sure where to start troubleshooting. The event log for the modem isnt much help, the following message shows up occasionally:
No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out
Whats interesting is my mom plugged her desktop right into the cable modem and then after plugging it back into the airport the wireless was working again. Is it possible there is a DHCP issue? If the hardware is failing what would be a good replacement for the airport?
