I have an E1000 router that's been fine until a few weeks ago. I have access but my guests are unalbe to get access. One of my guests looks like she's connected but can't acess the internet.
View 1 RepliesI just bought a E1000 and connected it to my cable modem. I can connect to the internet with my wired PC and wired Xbox 360 with no problems. For some reason on my wireless laptop I can only connect to the internet by the Guest connection. When I connect to the regular router SSID I get local only access, no internet.

The Cisco CD can't access my router now claiming i changed the admin password, which I havent done at all.

I have gone to 192.168.1.1, and do not find anything there about guest access. View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to disable the guest access connection on E1000 wireless router but this option is not in the firmware menu. So, now I read that I need to use Cisco Connect on the CD to change this feature. When I run the Cisco Connect software, it says it can't configure the router (probably because I already have it configured). Why doesn't the Cisco Connect software simply take me to the settings where I can change the guest access feature? Why does it try to re-configure the router? Whoever designed this at Cisco was probably smokin some medical MJ because it doesn't make any sense that I have to go through so many hoops to do something so simple.

Every hour or so it loses its PPPoE connection to the internet, so that both wired and wirelessly connected computers lose access. My laptop is also thrown entirely off the wireless network all together.

Although, from my provider, it should be possible to establish a connection at 25'000 kbit/s (download), max speed is at about 800 kbit/s. I'm only about 20 feet away from where the router is located and I don't use any phones (except for a cell phone). I read on this board, that I might have to change the wireless settings on the router and change the radio band but didn't manage to do so. I'm using Mac osx and a wireless connection.

The regular wireless network is very stable, but not much faster than my single-band DLink DIR655. Guest network seems to drop out from two connected iPhones, and when the connection drops, you have to re-login and type in the guest password everytime. The linksys firmware is up-to-date( Linksys smart wifi)and so are the iOS on the 2 iPhones. Just to add, on my old DLink, the guest network comes up secured also, so when you type in the passcode, it remembers it next it comes in range unlike the Cisco, which requires login at a web interface.

When I watch HULU through the player it kills the entire internet connection for all PCs. I have to unplug the router in order to restart it. Everything will also work just fine until the next crash.Here's the thing, I'll watch a bit of the show and see the commercials and the router will only crash when it comes back to the show. If I watched 100 commercials they would not crash, but as soon as it returns to the show CRASH. Restart and we watch again.

Unfortunately, I cannot connect to the configuration of the router by typing url...in a browser, be it wireless or weirdly. For example, Firefox displays "Connection has been reinitialized". Furthermore, when I launch Cisco Connect, it only shows the error "Unable to connect to router". I tried to switch my router off and on, but that doesn't work. Totally resetting the router solves the problem, but not definitely.Is there a solution that does not require resetting my router?

I tried to reset it but I dont think it worked, since the power LED didnt blink as its supposed to do after holding reset for 10-15 seconds (or more!!).

It's been set at wpa2/wpa mixed mode all this time without a problem. Out of the blue: no wireless connection on any device. I restarted the modem, router, PC's, phones, etc. I've updated the firmware. The only way I can get a wireless connection is to use wep. How can I get the better security and speed of wpa2 back?

For my desktop PC in oder to use the router to get on the internet or to even use the Cisco Connect to check the router, the E1000 needs to be rebooted. I am unable to access the router otherwise. I have tried 3 different LAN cards all with the same results.
The latest firmware notes do not look like upgrading the firmware will work. My Router info from Cisco connect
