Linksys Wireless Router :: Guest Password On E1000?
Dec 9, 2010
Just bought myself an Cisco E1000 today and I am having problems figuring out what the "Guest" password is, how to change it and how to possibly disable it all together?.
The Cisco CD can't access my router now claiming i changed the admin password, which I havent done at all.
But is there some way to manually get access to said password, change it and/or disable guets access all together

I used Cisco connect to set up guest access with a secure password. Cisco Connect now indicates guess access is allowed and shows the password. However, when I actually try to connect to the guest network, it shows no security at all, and I can join the network without a password.

The Cisco E1000 I just purchased provides two connections: a main connection, and one for "guest access." I've successfully disabled the need for password on the main, but the guest access still requires that I assign a password. How do I make this connection open and accessible as well?

I have a Linksys E1000 router. The firmware is 2.1.00 Build 7 August 30, 2010. I would like to turn on or enable the guest access function. I have gone to 192.168.1.1, and do not find anything there about guest access. At the Wireless tab, the choices are Basic Wireless Setting, Wireless Security, Wireless MAC filter, and Advamced Wireless Setting. Tfhan

I want to disable the guest access connection on E1000 wireless router but this option is not in the firmware menu. So, now I read that I need to use Cisco Connect on the CD to change this feature. When I run the Cisco Connect software, it says it can't configure the router (probably because I already have it configured). Why doesn't the Cisco Connect software simply take me to the settings where I can change the guest access feature? Why does it try to re-configure the router? Whoever designed this at Cisco was probably smokin some medical MJ because it doesn't make any sense that I have to go through so many hoops to do something so simple.

I just bought a E1000 and connected it to my cable modem. I can connect to the internet with my wired PC and wired Xbox 360 with no problems. For some reason on my wireless laptop I can only connect to the internet by the Guest connection. When I connect to the regular router SSID I get local only access, no internet.

I have sent up a wireless network in a large building using WAG120N Modem Router and four E1000 wireless routers set as access points. The E1000's have the DHCP switched off to enable roaming so the WAG120N takes care of all that.

I think I used an incorrect password during setup. When I setup the router, I was asked for a username with instructions to use my login ID (name@ISP) and system password. I entered the password I would use to get to my email, not the system password. How can I get back to that screen to correct the password? Now, I have no internet connection without disconnecting the router.

I upgraded my Mac OS to 10.7 (lion). I can no longer use Cisco Connect. I cannot recall the password I created when using Cisco Connect prior to upgrading to Lion. Is there any way to determine or reset my password without Cisco Connect. And why is it taking Cisco so long to provide firmware that works with Mac OS 10.7?

I have an E1000 linksys router. I am trying to determine the admin password. I have looked at seeral entries regarding this. I do not have CICSO connect installed. Not sure why. The router works fine. I have the CD that came with the router. I have also downloaded current version of connect software. Both of them want to config the router. The first item asked for is the admin password. I know I press reset button. I am trying to retrieve password without doing that.

I changed my E1000 router name successfully, and then went into the Administration section to change my password. After changing the password and clicking on Save a small screen pops up asking me to verify my router's username and password. When I enter the exact same user name and password it does not accept them. When I try to enter the old user name and password it does not accept them either. I then try combinations of the two and it still will not accept the input. I have reset my router 4 times now and this keeps occurring. I am completely baffled.

I have setup my EA3500 for guest access however when my clients connect and start their browser they are never prompted for a password to continue their session. The browser times out. I can connect to the secured network by using the wireless password and the clients work.
I have the lastest firmware. I have a host of different clients, Kindle Fire HD, RIM Playbook, Windows 7 laptop. I have turned off guest account restarted, reconfigured and nothing changes. The browser always times out and the client is never prompted for a password. I bought this router because a friend that I visit has one so that visitors can use the internet...I know hers works, I have brought my Kindle along with me and connected to her Linksys router and it prompts for a password. I liked the feature so much I bought this one.
FYI. This router was replaced under warranty, I spent two days (I'm not kidding) on the phone with Linksys support trying to get the first one to work. I rebooted, reset to default, changed settings, tweaked, used different clients all with no effect so they replaced it.
