Linksys Wireless Router :: WAG120N - Handle 20 Connections With Large Coverage

Nov 20, 2012

we are currently using a modem router LINKSYS WAG120N Wireless-N ADSL Router but are not satisfied. lots of dead zones and I think that there are too many users for this AP. last count gave around 20 users. so I'm looking for a solution to be able to handle 20+ concurrent connections and with large coverage - 600 m² .

Cisco WAN :: ASR1002 / 1002F Are Touted To Be Able To Handle Large Routing Tables

Jul 8, 2011

The ASR1002/1002F are touted to be able to handle large routing tables. They are also touted to have the software based IOS HA.What is not stated is that once IOS HA is turned on, the memory left in the router is so miserable that only 1 view of the internet GRT is pratically possible. My grumble is that this isn't documented anywhere and only more recently when the RP2 was launched has this been "corrected". But we have 7 units of ASR1002/1002F all not living up to their initially advertised functionality.

Cisco Routers :: Wag120n How ADSL Modem Handle Incoming Sip Calls

Feb 14, 2013

I have a Cisco wag120n adsl modem. I am setup with a SIP provider, so all my incoming and outgoing calls use SIP.So my question is, how does my ADSL modem handle incoming SIP calls,e.g the SIP call comes in and reaches my adsl modem. Then, how does the modem find the actual port that has my ATA adaptor (analog phone) or CME router attached  ? I know port forwarding would handle this, but I am not actually using any configured port forwarding rules.

Linksys Cable / DSL :: WAG120N - Double ADSL Connections On One PC?

Jul 11, 2012

I only have access to rather slow connections (256 Kbps). But since I have two lines and two modems, I was wondering if I could bond them together and make a faster one. My main modem is a Lynksys WAG120N Wireless-N ADSL2+ Modem Router, which as you can see is also in charge of both wired and wireless networks at my place. The second one is an older D-Link ADSL modem (JUST modem).Since I have an extra LAN port on my Lynksys modem, I want to know if and how I can connect the second modem, and combine the two rates.

With a wired computer (not wireless), connected directly to the router, the fastest internet download speed I get is 30Mbps. When I called Comcast's technical support, they are telling me I need a new router as the older routers can't handle these high internet speeds.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54GL - Handle Far Distance With Fast Speeds And Stability?

Aug 24, 2012

I have a client family who will be moving into a big one floor (but on a giant slope hill as if it had two floors) house. About 88 feet seems to be the longest distance from a small room with the new cable modem. This is based on Google Maps' aerial shot: [URL] Longest Distance FromACableModemRoom.jpg (right side/east is a huge hill with trees). Will an old wireless Linksys WRT54GL router be able to handle this far distance with fast speeds and stability? If not, then which wireless routers can do it? It would be nice to have third party firmware options like Linksys WRT54GL routers. Also, fast speed like gigabits for fast local file transfers between computers in the big house! 100mb/sec is slow these days! Stability and support are important too. The routers doesn't need to be the latest too

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 2.4GHz Has Lesser Coverage Than WRT54G V2.2?

Jul 11, 2011

Both use the same encryption (WPA2-Personal), same channel and they are tested in the same location with g-only mode. Only one router is switched on at any one time during the test. When 3 g-client notebooks (of various brands) are associated with the E4200, the signal indicator is a single bar, wherelse they can get 3 bars with the WRT54G (in the same location). For Internet speed test on a 20Mbps link, WRT54G is able to substain about 10Mbps, but only 1-2Mbps with the E4200.
Is such difference in performance between the two router models normal? Is there any configuration required to tweak the E4200? Or is it a hardware related issue with E4200?
The E4200 has been updated with the latest available firmware as of yesterday.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Access Point To Maximize Coverage Throughout House

Jan 27, 2012

I bought two E4200s with the intent of using the second as a wireless access point to maximize coverage throughout my house. I just learned the hard way that the E4200 doesn't support that feature, and will only act as an access point if physically connected to the primary router that is connected to the internet.
Before I spend even more money on equipment, I was wondering if any of the experts here can tell me whether I can use a Linksys Bridge, like the WET610N or WES610N, to operate the second router in bridge mode and turn it into a wireless access point?

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 Unresponsive While Transferring Large Files

Aug 9, 2012

I got a refurbished EA4500 (directly from Cisco) last week. I have been having a few issues, which I have found (not too great) workarounds for. However, the latest issue has me stumped, and is unacceptable.Whenever I am transferring files between 2 computers, I get kind of OK speed (5 MB/s). However, while this transfer happens, no other device can connect to the net. Actually, even trying to go to router home page ( times out.The clients still say they are connected to the router, but I just can't get anywhere. As soon as the file transfer finishes, everything goes back to normal.EA4500 replaced a WRT54G. Never had any problems with that router. It was such a workhorse. Just needed to upgrade to a n-router.I am on the latest non-cloud firmware.I have reduced the MTU size to 1200. Not sure that matters.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Sharing Large Movie Files With E3000

Sep 18, 2011

On the main floor I have a Linksys E3000, hooked up to my ADSL modem along with laptop #1 which has all my video and photos on Picasa.  Laptop is on 5ghz, running speed at 300.  I'm running the E3000 in dual mode (running 2.4ghz and 5ghz at the same time.)  I have 2 different network names mjames5gz and mjames24gz.
In my basement, I have a laptop running on 5ghz and an IP camera running 2.4 ghz.  the signal in the basement is on the low side for both.  Under Wireless network connection, I am getting around 100 on Speed vs.300 on the laptop....  The basement is fully finished so I can't run cables to the basement easily.  What could I buy so I can stream videos from laptop to laptop on 5ghz.  Would also be nice to have the 2.4ghz signal boosted as well
When I go upstairs, both laptop read 300 ghz and I can stream between them just fine.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2500 Stops Receiving Data For Any Large Download

May 3, 2011

My setup is as follows:
Linksys E2500 as DHCP client, all default network settings (MTU auto configured to 1500), connected to:
ZTE 831 II ADSL2+ modem in bridged mode
The issue is that whenever any large file is downloaded over HTTP, the download stops after about 4 minutes and never resumes. This results in:
1) HTTP downloads of anything > ~80 MB failing; tried using several browsers and CURL, all with the same results

2) iOS downloads in iTunes timing out

3) YouTube videos stalling every few minutes
Interestingly, Netflix streaming works OK. Perhaps that's because the protocol for Netflix is not a single large download but a bunch of smaller ones, but that's conjecture.
This all occurs over both wireless and wired connections to the E2500.
If I connect my Mac directly to the ZTE modem, I don't have the problem.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT350N Chokes And Hangs On Large And Fast Downloads

Apr 7, 2012

I recently upgraded my internet speed service from my ISP (Brighthouse).  They installed a gateway to replace their old modem, but I have had it bridged so it should act as a modem. shows downloads on the order of 40-50 Mbps and uploads around 5 Mbps.  If I try doing something interactively that pushes the speed and size of files (like flying over Google earth using my mouse to guide the direction and speed) my connection seems to hang.  I have to reset the router (unpower and repower it) to get my internet connection to work.  This has also happened when I quickly downloaded a series of large images - I click to get the next page fairly soon after the current page has finished downloaded.  My router is a WRT350N.

Linksys Cable / DSL :: WAG120N Wireless Router Disconnects?

May 4, 2012

My WAG120N wireless router disconnects every hour, precisely at the same time. This problem has started a few days ago, until then everything was fine. When the connection is gone, the "Internet" light goes off, the other lights remain on. For example, it disconnects at 07:30. It takes a minute or two to reconnect. Then it disconnects at 08:31. It reconnects, and then disconnects at 09:32.. and so on.Here are the things that I have tried (with my limited knowledge.. I'm not good with technology):- Turned the power on/off. No matter what time I do this at, the router disconnects at the same time again. For example, if it last disconnected at 07:30, and I turn it off and on at 7:50, it still disconnects at 08:31.- I tried resetting it, by pushing and holding the reset button on the back for 30-60 seconds (did it several times). Reconfigured the router (manually, not from a backup config file). Same situation as above, disconnects at the same time as always.
- I upgraded the IOS to v1.00.16, which I found here: [URL] reset and then reconfigured again. Still it didn't work.- Looked in the configuration pages for any values that resemble a 60 minute time span, and changed them. Only thing I found was the security key renewal period. Or was I sold a faulty product?

Linksys Cable / DSL :: WAG120N Wireless Router Hardware Failure?

Apr 29, 2011

I have been using it since approx 6months ago. Previously it was working well except for some major signal issues. However, 3 days ago it decided to go haywire. 1) It does not connect to the internet 2) It does not detect/connect to the computer when LAN cable is plugged in (does not load in 3) I have tried resetting the router many times and even holding the reset button for 30 secs and switching off and switching on but to no avail. 4) I have had a linksys live chat with Johnel and he determined that it may be a possible hardware problem 5) Current Status of the Router: It makes no attempt to establish any connection/load whenever turned on, as seen when no lights are blinking when switched on. Upon switching on, Power Light becomes Red and Internet Light becomes Red and the middle Refresh Button become Red. 6) I have tried installing the driver for the router but there is no way I can install the driver because the computer does not detect that the router is connected What can I do about these? 1) Can I get a replacement of a different model? This router has been giving me problems since Day 1 2) I am seriously considering switching my service provider from M1 to Starhub. If that is the case, is there any way I can be replaced with a Cable Modem instead of ADSL Modem?
