Nov 19, 2012
I have AP3500e serises and I need to cover distance up to 300m in directional point. I was trying to find any materials about distance which are covered by different types of antennas but I can't . I think I will prefer to use external antena , but can I get a converter from RP-TNC to N type connector.

I am expanding coverage in a big outdoor area. Most of the area is covered with AP1552 with AIR-ANT2506 5,2 db antennas. At the border of the area i have some masts where i can place ap's.Would it make sense to use directional antenna's there? I have a big open area where it is not possible to place ap's.The only placement is a mast in the middle of the area.I have a AP1552 with 5,2 db antennas there. Can i get better coverage if i place 3 or 4 ap's with directional antennas ?Or should i try with a 12dBi AIR-ANT24120 ?

The 3502e has 6 antenna connections, 3 for each band, 5GHz band is marked in blue. The antenna pigtails are only marked with the matching color - 3 blues or 3 blacks. No A,B or C. Does it matter which pigtail goes to which of the 3 terminals so long as the band is correct?

I have a TP Link router which is written as 300M wireless router in the home page when I login into it.
I can think of it as 300 Mega bits per second router. Does it mean it can support upto 300 MBPS internet speed or something like that?

where i am from, the houses are made of conrete. so obviously my wi-fi degrades. i currently have 1 basic wireless g linksys router set up, in my bedroom as thats where the primarry devices are. there is a portion of the house where the signal is non existant and i want to set up a 2nd wireless router for that area to have signal. its a fairly large house with 4 bedrooms.here is a breakdown of the device priority:
The main room (my room, east end of house)
Gaming PC (gaming, downloading, netflix streaming) non wireless
Wife's Laptop (occasional streaming, general internet surfing)
PS3 (gaming and netflix streaming)

The general purpose of all this is just have wireless across the whole house for mobility, my room is the priority as far as bandwidth usage and coverage. Also i will be purchasing an N router for my room and moving the G router to my moms.

When I set up the E4200, the LinkSys tech had me code the name aquapanda and aquapanda1 for the "guest"....now when I look at the computer right hand corner icon I can see the wireless networks available in my area and I see aquapanda as "secured" and aquapanda1 as "unsecured" does this mean somebody in my neighborhood and use aquapanda1? I entered a password for aquapanda which is what I am using. Aquapanda1, the quest "unsecured" network has a small yellow icon showing but I do not remember entering a password for this...does my password for aquapanda cover the aquapanda1 network?

I've got two RT-N16's one is a bridge and the other is the AP.I don't need an omnidirectional antenna on the AP because it is literally in the highest, farthest corner of the structure and a quarter-sphere signal would be perfect... I'm looking for some antennas to replace the omnis on it. [URL]

Netgear Cable (CBVG834G) wireless routerON the cable router are connected multimedia type equipments (TV/ IP set top box/ IP amp ) located on the family room DHCP ON (because I can't get internet connectivity when I assigned Fix IP address I come to that later) IP Adress:192.168.1.2 DHCP range:192.168.1.10/ 19 Reserved IP : 1292.168.1.10 for the Dlink 4 DEV a connected D-LINK ( DIR-855) wireless router.mainly PCs, NAS (x2) located on the first floor. DHCP ON Lan IP Adress: 192.168.0.1 DHCP range:
192.168.0.100 / 120 WAN Ip address : 192.168.1.10 6 PCs are connected
Everything works fine from an internet connectivity standpoint:
DEVx can connect to internet fine
PCx can connect to internet
PCx can access DEVx
Now the issue DEVx can't access resources from PCx!

I am currently trying to find the method or mechanism for calculating the distance between two wireless mobile nodes.Let's say, there are 2 nodes (node B and C) coming in communication with node A. How can node A knows whether node B or node C is nearer than the other? Is it possible to find it out by using RSSI? or are there any other mechanisms to calculate the distance?

I cannot make a long distance fax with my phone card & HPOffice Jet 6500A-It will take the long distance fax # then say long distance is not supported. If I dial my phone card # - It then asks to press 1 for english, 2 for spanish and there are no dials lit to enter the language choice. If that would go through, I could enter my pass code then dial the long distance fax # once my available minutes are confirmed. It seems like this was not thought out on this machine - how am I to make a long distance fax with out having to purchase long distance service from the phone company?

I have a client family who will be moving into a big one floor (but on a giant slope hill as if it had two floors) house. About 88 feet seems to be the longest distance from a small room with the new cable modem. This is based on Google Maps' aerial shot: [URL] Longest Distance FromACableModemRoom.jpg (right side/east is a huge hill with trees). Will an old wireless Linksys WRT54GL router be able to handle this far distance with fast speeds and stability? If not, then which wireless routers can do it? It would be nice to have third party firmware options like Linksys WRT54GL routers. Also, fast speed like gigabits for fast local file transfers between computers in the big house! 100mb/sec is slow these days! Stability and support are important too. The routers doesn't need to be the latest too

I have two Cisco AP 1242G and i'm trying to configurate a Point-to-Point Bridge Configuration to connect two wired LAN. Figure 1.8 [URL] I would connect two wired networks.
I tryed two configurations: Root and Non-Root AP. This way every wired PC on the Root AP can connect to the Access points, but cannot connect to the wired PC on the Non-Root AP.AP and WGB. Even this way the wired computers on one AP cannot connect to the wired PC on the WGB. This way only the wireless client can connect to the wired network. This is my network:
Root Bridge Non Root Bridge
10.0.0.1 10.0.0.2
Wired clients on the RB Wired clients on the Non RB
10.0.0.100 10.0.0.200
