Oct 18, 2011where i am from, the houses are made of conrete. so obviously my wi-fi degrades. i currently have 1 basic wireless g linksys router set up, in my bedroom as thats where the primarry devices are. there is a portion of the house where the signal is non existant and i want to set up a 2nd wireless router for that area to have signal. its a fairly large house with 4 bedrooms.here is a breakdown of the device priority:
The main room (my room, east end of house)
Gaming PC (gaming, downloading, netflix streaming) non wireless
Wife's Laptop (occasional streaming, general internet surfing)
PS3 (gaming and netflix streaming)
Ipad (streaming)

The general purpose of all this is just have wireless across the whole house for mobility, my room is the priority as far as bandwidth usage and coverage.Also i will be purchasing an N router for my room and moving the G router to my moms.

Sep 16, 2011When I set up the E4200, the LinkSys tech had me code the name aquapanda and aquapanda1 for the "guest"....now when I look at the computer right hand corner icon I can see the wireless networks available in my area and I see aquapanda as "secured" and aquapanda1 as "unsecured" does this mean somebody in my neighborhood and use aquapanda1? I entered a password for aquapanda which is what I am using. Aquapanda1, the quest "unsecured" network has a small yellow icon showing but I do not remember entering a password for this...does my password for aquapanda cover the aquapanda1 network?

3.23 desktop computers

everything is working fine internet is accessed by all pcs now i have to add 3 more computers to this same lan network to share internet & file sharing. so how can i do the lan setup ? 3 pcs are about 80- 90 meter far in same room this my 2 solution which would work without effecting the speed of internet and best ?
solution 1.24 port 10/100 Ethernet switch connected to 2nd switch 10/ 100 ethernet and add 3 pc to 2 nd switch via 3 cat 6e Ethernet cable which is 80-90 meter far for 3 desktop pc
solution 2: connected 80 -90 meter long cat 6e Ethernet cable from switch 1 directly to 16 port 10/100 ethernet 2 nd switch and from 2nd switch i took 3 cat 6e ethernet cable to 3 pc which are 20 meter far

May 8, 2011I have a new site needing PoE for their VoIP system as well as the usual LAN config.I haven't used Cisco PoE switches for a good couple of years now and was wondering what you think of the 2960-48PST-S?
I will probably need PoE up to around 50 Meters and will be using PoE on most of the 48 ports over CAT5e 100Mbps with 1Gbps upload is fine so these switches do seem to tick all the boxes but I’m not sure if there are better options?

Aug 9, 2012We have a home use WRT160N router linked to a PC desktop and two wireless laptops, Yesterday bought a new I-Phone, but could not link to my network (entered the security key many times). I accidentally connected to computer fix it firm that linked to my PC and wanted a large sum to fix the problem which he said was due to large number of temp?? internet files and once removed he would change the IP address of the desktop computer? Is this diagnosis logical and can I do it on my own. The router is definetely working - both laptops access the internet and I was recently able to hook up a Samsung Blu-Ray player using the same security code I used for the I-Phone.

Jul 23, 2011Router 1: I have a WRT120N wireless router connected to the Internet. It has IP 192.168.1.1 and DHCP is enabled with address range 192.168.1.100 up.
Router 2: I have a WRT310N router connected to the LAN via LAN port to ethernet jack in the wall (not WAN/Internet port). It has ip 192.168.1.2 and DHCP is DISABLED.
All the devices on my network can see each other. Devices connecter to router 1 can see devices connected to router 2.The problem is, devices connected to router 2 cannot get to the Internet. I verified clients connecting to router 2 are assigned the same DNS addresses and the same gateway 192.168.1.1 as the clients connected to router 1. But for some reason router 2 doesn't know how to router Internet traffic out through router 1?
I tried plugging the LAN cable into the Internet/WAN port on Router 2 but then devices on Router 2 can no longer see devices on Router 1. I've seen discussions of setting up router 2 on its own subnet: 192.168.2.1 instead of 192.168.1.2 but then supposedly devices on router 2 will still not be able to see devices on router 1.
I'm guessing router 2 can't access the Internet because it is default configured to send Internet traffic to the Internet port, no t the LAN port. how to configure it so all devices on both routers see each other and router 2 devices can get to the Internet.

Jan 20, 2013I connected EA6500 internet port to actiontec router provided by Verizon fios. I don't have any other way to connect as FIOS connection is coax to actiontec modem. I must take a drop from actiontec to internet port on EA6500.
With that said, I can't get EA6500 to work, it keeps saying no internet. The only way I can get it to work is when I set it to bridge mode. This makes my EA6500 a dumb switch/access point. I didn't spend $200 for a switch. I need to use advanced features offered by this router but I can't until this problem is fixed. I made sure I am running latest version of firmware (1.1.28.146856).
I have reset my fios router as well as ea6500 to factory defaults multiple times.

The media server works fine but after a while i loose contact with the router and the server this means that the Cisco connect doesn't work, the 192.168.1.1 doesn't work and I can't find the disk via \. I do have internet connection via wifi as im using it now....why I loose connection to the router? The lease time is 24h and it can happen more than once in a day.

Mar 20, 2013I bought a Cisco-Linksys E3200 8 months ago and it worked well until last month. I usually power down the router after midnight & power up in the morning and evevry time it can connect to internet through DSL modem without problem until this Feb. Most of the time after powering up the router it just can't connect to internet anymore. I am sure the AT&T DSL modem is working. I have to reboot/reset the router & DSL modem several time to get router to connect to internet again. The order of resetting/rebooting DSL modem & E3200 router seems to make no difference. It just appears suddenly the router can connect to internet by chance. I changed router IP and it didn't work either. It's really annoying becuase I have to spend 10~40 minutes to resetting/rebooting DSL modem & router to get internet connection every day.
