My laptop connects and has excellent strength throughout my whole home but my internet slows down when i move only three meters away from my modem. I have been sent a new modem, changed wireless channels and troubleshooted with my network provider but still no luck.
View 8 RepliesI just installed my new EA6500 and everything works ok I think, Netflix across my PS3 is ok, laptop connects, and smartphones connect. The problem is that my Internet connection to my desktop (wired) PC is slow as mud. My ISP is a fiber optic provider and although I'm not sure exactly what my connection speeds are my Internet connection has always been blistering fast. With everything other than two smartphones turned off my desktops Internet access is slow. How to get my speed back and still use my new router?

everything is working fine internet is accessed by all pcs now i have to add 3 more computers to this same lan network to share internet & file sharing. so how can i do the lan setup ? 3 pcs are about 80- 90 meter far in same room this my 2 solution which would work without effecting the speed of internet and best ?
solution 1.24 port 10/100 Ethernet switch connected to 2nd switch 10/ 100 ethernet and add 3 pc to 2 nd switch via 3 cat 6e Ethernet cable which is 80-90 meter far for 3 desktop pc
solution 2: connected 80 -90 meter long cat 6e Ethernet cable from switch 1 directly to 16 port 10/100 ethernet 2 nd switch and from 2nd switch i took 3 cat 6e ethernet cable to 3 pc which are 20 meter far
I have a new site needing PoE for their VoIP system as well as the usual LAN config.I haven't used Cisco PoE switches for a good couple of years now and was wondering what you think of the 2960-48PST-S?
I will probably need PoE up to around 50 Meters and will be using PoE on most of the 48 ports over CAT5e 100Mbps with 1Gbps upload is fine so these switches do seem to tick all the boxes but I’m not sure if there are better options?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I try to connect to my internet wirelessly and my laptop has more than 2 meters distance approximately from my router then for some reason it doesn't connect.The laptop can spot my network at that distance and i can connect without problems from any other device such as my mobile phone or my mother's laptop, so I'm pretty sure that I'm not out of reach.Occasionaly it connects but this appens very rarely (in fact it happened twice so far), disconnects shortly after (after about 5 min) and the internet speed during that time is rediculously slow

View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently my wirless computer has been loading web pages extremely slow. When I download anything the download speed will start at around 2Mbps and then within second drop to 1Mbps then so on untill it's showing a download speed of bytes. Not kilobytes but just the b. Then int will hang up and the download will fail. Sometime resetting the adapter will allow me another failed attempt to download it. Ive reset the router reinstalled the operating system (was due for a fresh install anyway). Still nothing. Adapter shows connection to the router with 4/5 bars and through to the Internet.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOften (almost always) , when i am connected to wifi via my linksys wireless n PCI e card, speeds are suuuuper slow, and it even causes my computer speeds to slow down (mouse tweaks and glitches, loading bars will stop and start spinning.. etc. almost like low RAM problem?).When i disconnect from wifi, the slow computer problem goes away.I have replaced the wifi card since i thought that was the problem. Although the problem came back.I am currently using a USB wireless N adapter, and i have one bar connectivity, and it runs 100x faster than my PCI card. OH AND ALSO: a few times i have been using m,y desktop with super slow speeds on the PCI card, and i connect on my PS3 or laptop and open a web page. SOMETIMES it will affect something, and my desktop will start running with network speeds again. It's almost like the other devices re-set something in the router?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy DIR-601 router with 1.02NA firmware When the wireless is activated and not in use by any device (as shown in the wireless status) I experience major and gradual slowdown of my DL/UL speeds and ping. When I deactivate wireless the problem is solved even though no device was using the wireless at the time of the slowdown. I've tried resetting, reverting to factory defaults, updating the firmware(was already up to date), unplugging the router for a considerable amount of time (2hours+). Even though it's not quite related I've tried connecting directly to the modem just for thoroughness' sake.

I had to move my desktop computer to a different room with no ethernet connection so I purchased a Linksys AE2500 usb wireless adapter for it. My router/modem is a Actiontec 2000 which came with my internet. When I have my desktop on and connected to the internet it slows down all the computers on the network and it is really slow. My question is do I have something installed wrong? I used the driver for teh adapter from this site and nothing else has changed.

After a day or so I start to lose speed (down to 5MB) until I reboot the E3000. Then I resume 20-30MB download connections. My wired connections appear fine and don’t experience the slow down. The wireless slow down seems similar to the old memory leak condition of old Windows OS’s. Called Cisco and they don’t have an idea. They had me change a few settings (channel info) but I’m pretty technical and don’t feel that will fix it.
Why my internet was so slow .90mbps. They got on my mac and changed the Ethernet setting to "manually" instead of "Automatic", then changed the speed to 10mbps instead of "autoselect". Now the internet is going at the 10mbps im supposed to be getting, but when i plug it into my router (wall>router>laptop) i get the .90mbps again. So do i how do i change the same setting on the router?

Usually, unplugging the router for a while then starting it up again restores the speed as per my cable company's speed test. The same applies to long PDFs, software updates, long virus definition updates, videos in general and graphics heavy websites. It just slows down eventually to a standstill and the download fails. As stated when the router is not connected the above items pop up or download reasonably quickly through the modem. We have moderate speed DSL.

1. The data rate slows down after a period of time (long message trail elsewhere)
2. I cannot see everything on the network.
I have several Win 7 computers, two win xp computers, three NAS devices (linux based), and a printer sitting on the network, along with two switches to cope with all the traffic (not to mention iPods, iphones etc.)With my old router, I couold see everything plugged into the network from my main Win 7 computer. (note: the win 7 network map does not always work, but the windows explorer window of the network always showed everything).With the E3000 router, I can only see 1 or 2 of the devices on the network. If I reboot the router, then sometimes all of the devices appear on the windows explorer window (sometimes not)I am running a workgroup (not a domain) and i am not using win 7's homegroup because that will not work with the non-win 7 devices.Is there a setting that will see all of the devices in Win 7 (either on the router or on the computers). I suspect it is a router issue as it worked with my old Zyxel router.
I have had a wireless network set up in my 2-level home. There is one cable connection to the house. My roommate has set up a separate wireless (WPA) on the lower level..without coordinating with me. Could this cause technical difficulties for connecting to or speed in surfing the internet?
View 1 Replies View RelatedFacing some troubles with my internet speeds, firstly the set-up is very simple, its just about 4 devices connected to a regular home router, 2 devices are connected via wireless and i am having trouble with my desktop PC.
Basically what keeps happening is that it fluctuates between 10Mb/s and as low as 0.8Mb/s, right now its at about 4Mb/s but i cant understand why this keeps happening, I am using a G wireless USB NIC and the laptop (the other wireless device) is fairly new so it should be an N wireless NIC, also it doesn't change my speed when it is being used for browsing and my neighbors wireless devices are also laptops with N cards. I believe that the router is G, having 3Mb/s at best which is far worse than normal.
I believe it is because of my GFX card driver, because when not enabled, im getting around 5mb/s DL and once I enable it, I get around .37mb/s.

This was done so two salespeople could share one ethernet wall connection. They've been complaining about internet speeds, so I did some tests.
1) Replaced the Linksys workgroup switch with a higher end 16 port switch we had on hand from Allied Telesis (an AT-GS950).Resulted in no change in speed on the two user computers (one desktop, one laptop; both seeing avg of 7 Mbps). However, when I connect my laptop, the speeds were twice as fast (15 Mpbs vs.7).I looked at the NIC configurations to compare settings and we all had the same settings.
2) When I eliminate the switches altogether and hook the user's computers directly to the wall connection, the speeds are as promised by our ISP (15 Mbps).Is there something I need to configure in these switches to speed them up?I don't think it's possible to manage the Linksys. Is my only option at this point to pay for another ethernet re-wire so each of them can connect directly via the wall and eliminate the switches?

I tried a speed test to see what i was receiving it started at 100mb/s then it started to go down stopped for a sec then shot down to 10mb/s like this
When I am playing a game or watching a video on youtube or twitch it's fine streams with out needing to buffer only time i notice this is when i try to download some thing
My Internet speed slows down from about 4mpbs to 1mpbs approx until I reboot after which it runs fine until it slows down again.I have a Netgear DGN2000 router, and have tried restoring to factory settings and using it that way - made no difference.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have FiOS and their supplied wireless router Actiontec #: MI424WR. I have equipment that uses the newer N signal so I purchased a Linksys E3000 Wireless-N Router. This is working great for my wireless home theater equipment but I am having problems with my wired speed. It has gone from 20 to 30 mbps to around 10 mbps. I have one of the LAN outputs on the Actiontec feeding the Linksys input, I have my computers plugged directly into the Linksys verses the Actiontec. This makes it easier to program the Linksys router. Since I am no longer using the wireless part of the Actiontec there really is no need to be plugged into it. Is there anything I can do get my speed back or will I have to plug the computer back into the Actiontec and move it every time I may need to make a change to the Linksys
