My Internet speed slows down from about 4mpbs to 1mpbs approx until I reboot after which it runs fine until it slows down again.I have a Netgear DGN2000 router, and have tried restoring to factory settings and using it that way - made no difference.
I have a Linksys WR-110 wireless router that has been acting up lately. I have 10mbps cable internet and have my desktop computer hardwired to the router. I notice that after a few days the download speed gets down to the 2mbps range. Verified by { URL}. If you do a hard boot (unplug for 30 seconds) it will go back to 10mbps speed again. But it seems after a few days it slows own again.
I always run speed test to verify, and it always runs back up at advertised speeds once i hard boot.
When connecting wirelessly (5GHz) to the E3000 after a day or so the wireless connection starts loosing speed. I have Comcast and usually get 20-30 MB download connections. After a day or so I start to lose speed (down to 5MB) until I reboot the E3000. Then I resume 20-30MB download connections. My wired connections appear fine and don’t experience the slow down. I'm doing my speed test with [URL]
The wireless slow down seems similar to the old memory leak condition of old Windows OS’s. Called Cisco and they don’t have an idea. They had me change a few settings (channel info) but I’m pretty technical and don’t feel that will fix it.
i have a problem with my adsl line connected on a HWIC-ADSL on router 2901 it was working good until yesterday the atm interface is down but the interface dialer is up .i connected this line into home adsl modem and the line is working good?
When I connect directly to my dsl modem, I am getting better than 5 megabits/sec. which is what I should be getting for download speed. When connected thru the router, I am getting about half of that.My wireless connection speed is 54 megabits/sec, so that is ok. I cannot get any connection when I hardwire the connection from the pc to the router too.
I have just received Time Warner Cable and get 16Mbps down from them directly through their modem (motorola DOCSIS 2.0 modem- SB5101) to my PC (using speedtest.net). When I then connect TWC's modem through my 2801 router on fa0/0, the download rate I get is considerably slower (on the order of 3-4Mbps via same testing method). What am I missing?
Here is how the passthrough interface is setup:
interface FastEthernet0/0 bandwidth receive inherit ip address dhcp ip nat outside ip virtual-reassembly in duplex auto speed auto
I have attempted removing bandwidth command - nothing changed with it not there. I have also hard coded the speed and duplex to 100/full to no avail....
Other possible relevant configs: ip nat inside source list 1 interface FastEthernet0/0 overload ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 dhcp access-list 1 permit 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255
Basically this things is wide open... for testing but the download speed differential is perplexing to me.
I am on a point to point internet connection that is rated at 2mbps. With my PC connected directly to the modem or through an old Airlink101 (model AR680W) router typical DL speeds are 1.9 to 2.4 mbps. However the Airlink router has to be reset 2 to 3 times per day.
I am trying to replace this router, however every router I've tried cuts the download speed in half (about 0.9 to 1.3 mbps). So far I've tried two Ultra Speed wireless N routers; two D-Link DIR 615's; and one Linksys E1200. When I talk to their tech support after testing they say that the routers must be faulty, but what are the odds of getting 5 bad routers from 3 different manufactures.
My IP does not know of any compatability issues with any routers.
I have a D-Link DIR-655 Router with a Motorola SB5101. When the computer is directly plugged into the modem i get 10Mpbs but when it is connected to the modem (either wireless or wired) the max speed is >3Mbps.
Ever since I started using iPads at the house I have had to reboot the router about once a week because the download speeds drops by approximately 90%. As soon as the reboot completes all is right with the world for about another week. During the course of the week, but not all at once, we will have 4 iPads, 3 iPhones, 2 laptops and one desktop(wired), a Verizon signal booster and house guests. I have updated the firmware.
I used to use a DSL modem/router supplied by Bell (my ISP) and it was a 2wire router, but the signal was not enough to supply my entire house, it was 802.11b/g.Now recently I bought a Tenda W307R, N router all-in-one with an AP.I just plugged it right into the 2wire (modem) and now the Tenda routes the wireless signal. However, I am experiencing that it slows down every few minutes or so, for 30 second intervals, then the internet catches on again and everything is good.
I just installed my new EA6500 and everything works ok I think, Netflix across my PS3 is ok, laptop connects, and smartphones connect. The problem is that my Internet connection to my desktop (wired) PC is slow as mud. My ISP is a fiber optic provider and although I'm not sure exactly what my connection speeds are my Internet connection has always been blistering fast. With everything other than two smartphones turned off my desktops Internet access is slow. How to get my speed back and still use my new router?
Why my internet was so slow .90mbps. They got on my mac and changed the Ethernet setting to "manually" instead of "Automatic", then changed the speed to 10mbps instead of "autoselect". Now the internet is going at the 10mbps im supposed to be getting, but when i plug it into my router (wall>router>laptop) i get the .90mbps again. So do i how do i change the same setting on the router?
This issue started about 6 months ago. I have noticed the following issues:
1. I cannot download large files. It starts downloading then it stalls.
2. I cannot download videos on Youtube and other video site to stream the video. In [URL] the test shows 100% complete but the test keeps on running and upload speed goes down.while running the upload speed test on [URL] sometimes it cannot connect to server to upload the file. When it connects to the server I get error saying that it cannot read the file it uploaded.Had Comcast come out to take a look at the cable and they claim that it was the PC's fault and not the cables's fault. I have the cable coming out of the modem to a linksys router ( WRT54G), then to my PC. I connected the cable directly from the modem to the PC and still had the same proble.
I have the following:
System Manufacturer: Velocity Micro Model: Edge V420 Processor: Intel core 2 Quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.83 GHz Memory(RAM): *.00 GB
I have a WRT160Nv3 router connected to a CM100 modem. I noticed that over time, perhaps a day or more, the connection speed slows. Usually, unplugging the router for a while then starting it up again restores the speed as per my cable company's speed test. I have called the cable company and their tech support reports a good signal to the house.
I'm using Cisco EPC3825 cable modem for my home network, and wondered a thing, that if I set up modem to work in router-mode, my real connection speed slows down to around 5-7Mt/s, when using modem in bridged mode, my connection speed is close to 15-20Mt/s. My serviceprovider provides 200/10M speed to my modem, and they've checked, that modem is working with 204/10M speed, and computers works also, if using modem in bridged-mode.
I can't get utube videos when I'm going through the router. I can get them if I'm on the modem only. The same applies to long PDFs, software updates, long virus definition updates, videos in general and graphics heavy websites. It just slows down eventually to a standstill and the download fails. As stated when the router is not connected the above items pop up or download reasonably quickly through the modem. We have moderate speed DSL.
I have just bought an E3000 router when my old router died last week. I am having two problems:
1. The data rate slows down after a period of time (long message trail elsewhere)
2. I cannot see everything on the network.
I have several Win 7 computers, two win xp computers, three NAS devices (linux based), and a printer sitting on the network, along with two switches to cope with all the traffic (not to mention iPods, iphones etc.)With my old router, I couold see everything plugged into the network from my main Win 7 computer. (note: the win 7 network map does not always work, but the windows explorer window of the network always showed everything). With the E3000 router, I can only see 1 or 2 of the devices on the network. If I reboot the router, then sometimes all of the devices appear on the windows explorer window (sometimes not)I am running a workgroup (not a domain) and i am not using win 7's homegroup because that will not work with the non-win 7 devices. Is there a setting that will see all of the devices in Win 7 (either on the router or on the computers). I suspect it is a router issue as it worked with my old Zyxel router.
i have a peak wireless router connected to my desk top or should i say modem, which was security enable with password and used to use my laptop a toshiba which used to automatically connect to my wirelless router i then rebooted router as couldnt remember password as my son wanted to connect with his laptop an xbox from his bedroom . since rebooting the router my son has conection with the xbox and his laptop but my laptop want find my nework
I had to reset my Linksys WRT300N router because of issues with my internet provider and now I cannot get my Dell Inspiron E1405 to connect wirelessly. I am getting a status of limited or no connectivity with an ip address starting with 169. I have included the following:
Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.2 OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2, 32 bit Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T7200 @ 2.00GHz, x86 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 6
Model No.BiPAC 5200S, Firmware: v2.10.1.0(UEO.C2C)3.6.0.0The router was supplied by Tata Indicam nearly 7 years back. Now I tried to configure for Bsnl BroadbandConfiguration is completed as specified in the user manual without any hitchRestarted the system as directed. But rebooting is not fructified. The system did not respond. Hence closed. Later verified the diagnostics and found that the adsl synchronization is failed. I am not a qualified person to analyze the problem.
So I rebooted my router after adding a MAC address to the MAC address filtering scheme, and now it wont get its static IP and broadcast. what have I done and how can I fix it? and before someone says "Turn it off and on again" and "hard reset it", ive done this! it was first port of call!
I have to reboort my router every day to get back an internet connection? I have a desktop and a laptop plus iPads, etc. The laptop loses connectivity every day about the same time. My only solution so far is to reboot the router. I realize that the client lease time is set to 1 day by default but isn't it supposed to ask the modem for another day of life when this happens?
I unplugged my router and when I plugged it back in, it stopped working. The 4 port lights and the ethernet light come on immediately when I plug it in instead of the normal boot sequence.
I tried resetting it, leaving it unplugged for long periods, using the power supply from my other router,... nothing works.
seeing very strange behaviour of router router is connected to switch to provide analog when swich configured as trunk the router crash and reboot but when change to access its stable
I have an office addition in which I've extended the network connection from the wall by adding a 4 port Linksys workgroup switch. This was done so two salespeople could share one ethernet wall connection. They've been complaining about internet speeds, so I did some tests.
1) Replaced the Linksys workgroup switch with a higher end 16 port switch we had on hand from Allied Telesis (an AT-GS950).Resulted in no change in speed on the two user computers (one desktop, one laptop; both seeing avg of 7 Mbps). However, when I connect my laptop, the speeds were twice as fast (15 Mpbs vs.7).I looked at the NIC configurations to compare settings and we all had the same settings.
2) When I eliminate the switches altogether and hook the user's computers directly to the wall connection, the speeds are as promised by our ISP (15 Mbps). Is there something I need to configure in these switches to speed them up?I don't think it's possible to manage the Linksys. Is my only option at this point to pay for another ethernet re-wire so each of them can connect directly via the wall and eliminate the switches?
I have upgraded my existing computers from win2k to win7 except for 3 machines. My servers are running Win2003 server. When copying files through the network from server to backup, network is extremely slow. When I shut down win7 machines network flys.
I recently installed a tp-link router everthing works ok. The problem is when I turn off my pc and disconnect it and all attached devices (modem, router ect) from the electric supply. When I turn it back on I have no internet connection until I reboot the pc a second time. This problem only occurs when I disconnect the router from the electric supply. If I just shut down without disconnecting then I can turn it on and it connects to the internet without any problem.
