View 1 RepliesI would like to setup a a wireless antenna so one of my relatives can get online. I live in the city with a dsl connection and they live two houses down and out of the city limits. Can I configure the wireless connection so they can not use it to download music and movies ? Just to use it to browse the internet and check mail. Is it possible to throttle the band width they could use?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having several issues with this router we have from TBayTel. We recently had digital cable installed along with the router ComTrend CT-5374 Multi-DSL CPE. It is both wired and wireless combination. We have it set for dial-up connection. The AV I currently use is AVAST Free. What is the usual port forwarding methods used for this type of router as I am unable to do any special downloads of music and movies anymore. I had contacted TBayTel and they said that they would give me a static address I could use. [code]
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I connect directly to my dsl modem, I am getting better than 5 megabits/sec. which is what I should be getting for download speed. When connected thru the router, I am getting about half of that.My wireless connection speed is 54 megabits/sec, so that is ok. I cannot get any connection when I hardwire the connection from the pc to the router too.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am on a point to point internet connection that is rated at 2mbps. With my PC connected directly to the modem or through an old Airlink101 (model AR680W) router typical DL speeds are 1.9 to 2.4 mbps. However the Airlink router has to be reset 2 to 3 times per day.
I am trying to replace this router, however every router I've tried cuts the download speed in half (about 0.9 to 1.3 mbps). So far I've tried two Ultra Speed wireless N routers; two D-Link DIR 615's; and one Linksys E1200. When I talk to their tech support after testing they say that the routers must be faulty, but what are the odds of getting 5 bad routers from 3 different manufactures.
My IP does not know of any compatability issues with any routers.
We have Cisco ASA 5510 256RAM running 8.2.4 with CSC 6.3.1172.4, it slows down internet traffics drastically when we do speed test, we get something like this, It the computer is bypassing the CSC, it gets This was done when there's very low traffic on the LAN and CPU is low usage on the CSC. The CSC has been re-imaged also but still doesn't solve the problem.

This router supports 7 branch offices using site-to-site VPN to other RV042 routers. After connecting the new RV042 at the main office, three of the branch offices had very slow response over the VPN tunnel. I disabled the firewall on the new RV042 and the problem resolved. The three branches with the problem have Windows 7 systems and the other 4 have Windows XP. I confirmed that the Windows firewall was disabled on the Windows 7 systems.I did try leaving the firewall enabled and disabling SPI, but that didn't work. Have to have firewall disabled to resolve the problem. I would not expect the firewall on the main office RV042 to affect VPN tunnel traffic, but apparently it does. Do we need specific access rules to fix the issue. It works fine with firewall disbaled, but I'd be more comfortable with it enabled.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a mysterious problem with my Internet connection. The Edge topology is in the attachment so are the most important "show" commands. We have a 50Mb/s symmetric Internet connection. When we use Internet through ASA the download speed does not exceed 3Mb/s whereas the upstream is at about 45Mb/s. When we connect our LAN directly to 2960 the downstream increases dramatically up to 47Mb/s whereas the upstream remains at about 45Mb/s. Duplex is manually set to 1000/full on all interfaces. All that I have noticed are dropped packets on outside interface (Gi0/0). The reason is unclear.

View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone use an external hard drive connected to their e4200 router to stream movies over DLNA? If so what format of videos are you using and what program and settings are you using to convert the movies from DVD or blu-ray to video files?
I have been using handbrake to convert both blu-ray and DVD movies to MP4 videos with AAC audio and I have been getting strange results. If I convert a blu-ray movie to MP4 with a DTS audio track down mixed to Dolby Pro Logic II AAC then I can play the movie and I am able to fast forward and rewind. If I convert the same movie but convert the audio in any other way, AC3 pass through etc., the video will play but I will not be able to fast forward or rewind.
I want to separate my house in three zones plus guest W LAN. One for my mother in law living upstairs, One Gega-net for my family and one for my own little company office. Additionally I want W LAN on three of the V LAN's in addition to one guest W LAN.
And I want remote access to my music on the family LAN and my documents on the office LAN.
Can I accomplish this with one (W LAN)router or do I need more equipment?

The TV sees the media on the device and music plays fine. However, every movie I've tried shows up with an exclamation point and when I try to play it I get a message to the effect that "unable to open media". Is the EA4500 media server only compatible with certain movies?
I am sharing media from my Linksys E3000 router and would like to use subtitles (in separate files) for movies. It is working when I am using Samsung PC based AllShare server but not while using E3000 UPnP server. On the other hand I found some info on the web that Twonky should support subtitles. But maybe different version then embedded into E3000.

When I download anything the download speed will start at around 2Mbps and then within second drop to 1Mbps then so on untill it's showing a download speed of bytes. Not kilobytes but just the b. Then int will hang up and the download will fail. Sometime resetting the adapter will allow me another failed attempt to download it. Ive reset the router reinstalled the operating system (was due for a fresh install anyway). Still nothing. Adapter shows connection to the router with 4/5 bars and through to the Internet.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOften (almost always) , when i am connected to wifi via my linksys wireless n PCI e card, speeds are suuuuper slow, and it even causes my computer speeds to slow down (mouse tweaks and glitches, loading bars will stop and start spinning.. etc. almost like low RAM problem?).When i disconnect from wifi, the slow computer problem goes away.I have replaced the wifi card since i thought that was the problem. Although the problem came back.I am currently using a USB wireless N adapter, and i have one bar connectivity, and it runs 100x faster than my PCI card. OH AND ALSO: a few times i have been using m,y desktop with super slow speeds on the PCI card, and i connect on my PS3 or laptop and open a web page. SOMETIMES it will affect something, and my desktop will start running with network speeds again. It's almost like the other devices re-set something in the router?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use to could be able to watch videos and listen to music, and download at optimal speeds, I could even watch HD if I wanted to, but now all of a sudden (starting at least 3 weeks ago) videos, downloads, and music seem to run super slow no matter what quality I have it on. It takes 5 minutes to buffer a 3 min video, and if I want to watch a show, it take like 2 or 3 hours to fully buffer. My internet still goes fast, and I have trendmicro antivirus, as well as ccleaner, i updated my drivers, i have ie9 and adobe flashhplayer 11.1, i updated everything in windows update, i unplugged the modem for awhile and shut down more often, and opened it up and blew all the dust out. I don't know what else to do. I do have a cisco E2000 wireless router if that's a problem, and both my ps3 and my computer are on the connection, but my computer was working fine with both on the same connection for a year. I go on the http:192.168.1.1 cisco place, and i renewed ip settings, and nothing worked.
View 19 Replies View RelatedMy DIR-601 router with 1.02NA firmware When the wireless is activated and not in use by any device (as shown in the wireless status) I experience major and gradual slowdown of my DL/UL speeds and ping. When I deactivate wireless the problem is solved even though no device was using the wireless at the time of the slowdown. I've tried resetting, reverting to factory defaults, updating the firmware(was already up to date), unplugging the router for a considerable amount of time (2hours+). Even though it's not quite related I've tried connecting directly to the modem just for thoroughness' sake.
