Dec 4, 2012Does anyone use an external hard drive connected to their e4200 router to stream movies over DLNA? If so what format of videos are you using and what program and settings are you using to convert the movies from DVD or blu-ray to video files?
I have been using handbrake to convert both blu-ray and DVD movies to MP4 videos with AAC audio and I have been getting strange results. If I convert a blu-ray movie to MP4 with a DTS audio track down mixed to Dolby Pro Logic II AAC then I can play the movie and I am able to fast forward and rewind. If I convert the same movie but convert the audio in any other way, AC3 pass through etc., the video will play but I will not be able to fast forward or rewind.

I love this router have 35 Mbps on internet speed so I don't think that is the problem. Range runs from 35 up to 45 Mbps all the time. May 28, 2012I am trying to stream movies and music to my Panasonic TV. I have a USB hard drive connected to the EA4500.
The TV sees the media on the device and music plays fine. However, every movie I've tried shows up with an exclamation point and when I try to play it I get a message to the effect that "unable to open media". Is the EA4500 media server only compatible with certain movies?

Feb 26, 2013This is just a tip that we used on our controllers that I wanted to pass along. We were having issues with unwanted access points associating to our controllers. We had a stack of older 1242s that came up missing and hit our network. On way we came up with to prevent this was to number all of our wlans above I'd # 16 on the controller. By default the default ap group allows all wlans from 1 to 16. By starting with 17 we are not allowing any SSIDs in the default group. All if our production access points are in their own ap groups. Any access point that hits our controllers that has not been configured with the correct ap group name will be in the default ap group and will not be servicing any SSIDs.I know there are other ways to set this up but this was a tricky way for us to set it up and see who calls about there wireless not working.

The x box is 20 ft away from my router and the Blue Ray is about 60 away with one wall between. The x box pulls movies down and plays them no problem, and Blue Ray takes about a minute for loading the moving, will start playing but them pauses several times throughtout the movie showing the loading sign on screen.
