I am sharing media from my Linksys E3000 router and would like to use subtitles (in separate files) for movies. It is working when I am using Samsung PC based AllShare server but not while using E3000 UPnP server. On the other hand I found some info on the web that Twonky should support subtitles. But maybe different version then embedded into E3000.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm using a 8GB flash disk formatted as FAT32, under OSX when I copy a 1.51 GB file to the flash drive it completes but the file will not appear in Finder?? I thought this problem was fixed in 1.0.04 firmware??So when I load up a Window 7 PC and access the storage device, I see the file but it's only being reported as 4KB?FAT32 file size limit is 4GB so what the heck is going on with this router? Clearly the E3000 seems to have continued problems with OSX. Doesn't appear to be any fix now or in the near future?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently copied files to my hard drive that was connected directly to my computer (via USB).When I connected the disk back to E3000 the files were missing. I connected it back to PC directly and verified the files are there.My PC runs Windows 7 Enterprise.Why can't I see files copied via local connection when I connect the disk to E3000.I carefully compared the permissions with files that I can see just fine and there is no difference - same permissions, same owner.I also get all kinds of permission errors when I try to delete a files from the network drive.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOn the main floor I have a Linksys E3000, hooked up to my ADSL modem along with laptop #1 which has all my video and photos on Picasa. Laptop is on 5ghz, running speed at 300. I'm running the E3000 in dual mode (running 2.4ghz and 5ghz at the same time.) I have 2 different network names mjames5gz and mjames24gz.
In my basement, I have a laptop running on 5ghz and an IP camera running 2.4 ghz. the signal in the basement is on the low side for both. Under Wireless network connection, I am getting around 100 on Speed vs.300 on the laptop.... The basement is fully finished so I can't run cables to the basement easily. What could I buy so I can stream videos from laptop to laptop on 5ghz. Would also be nice to have the 2.4ghz signal boosted as well
When I go upstairs, both laptop read 300 ghz and I can stream between them just fine.
On my WRT610N with firmware version 2.xxxx (latest available at this moment), I have connected a Lacie harddisk (in RAID-1) by the USB port and I have activated the mediaserver. I have connected through a wireless dongle my Samsung TV(UE46B7000) to my mediaserver.
My mediafiles are visible and can be played, however I'm not able to get my subtitles with them. I tried srt, ssa, smi, sub formats but in vain. These subtitles are stored in the same location. If however I copy the same mediafiles and subtitles directly to another external harddisk, which I connect to another USB port on the TV I can watch these mediafiles and my subtitles are also available. So my question: what do you need to do to render your subtitles visible?
I just installed this router and connected the hard drive (Western Digital 1TB) which worked fine at first. When I moved some movie files to another folder they lost all of their data. The file names are still present, but all the media files show zero bytes and are no longer usable. Is there anyway to get these files back? I have been digitizing all our movies to the tune of about 90GB. What could be going on here? I disconnected the HD from the router and plugged directly into the laptop. Still shows the file names, but each file is still at zero bytes. Not a cool way to have a media server for your house!
View 6 Replies View RelatedI bought a seagate USB hard drive today from Target. Its a 2TB and I was going to use it via USB attached to my router. I connected it and the Linksys firmware detected it and I was able to create the appropriate folders on the drive for storage through the linksys GUI.My issue is that I am now trying to move my movies and tv shows over to the drive and it isn't allowing me to do that.
I get an error message that says "You don't have access to //myshare. contact your administrator".
I'm not sure why I was able to create folders on this drive but am unable to move files to it. Makes no sense to me. Write permission is write permission no?My machine which currently stores the media files is windows7 utimate. The router is E3000 using up to date stock firmware.
Does anyone use an external hard drive connected to their e4200 router to stream movies over DLNA? If so what format of videos are you using and what program and settings are you using to convert the movies from DVD or blu-ray to video files?
I have been using handbrake to convert both blu-ray and DVD movies to MP4 videos with AAC audio and I have been getting strange results. If I convert a blu-ray movie to MP4 with a DTS audio track down mixed to Dolby Pro Logic II AAC then I can play the movie and I am able to fast forward and rewind. If I convert the same movie but convert the audio in any other way, AC3 pass through etc., the video will play but I will not be able to fast forward or rewind.
When we stream movies in two different rooms at the same time we drop our netflix or vudu connections. Can I enable or disable any settings on my router that would work. I love this router have 35 Mbps on internet speed so I don't think that is the problem. Range runs from 35 up to 45 Mbps all the time. I know how to access my router settings and navigate where to go and what to change if I can. I have 3 laptops, 1 wireless printer, two blue-ray devices attached.

The TV sees the media on the device and music plays fine. However, every movie I've tried shows up with an exclamation point and when I try to play it I get a message to the effect that "unable to open media". Is the EA4500 media server only compatible with certain movies?

I do not want either A or B to be able to see each other for security purposes. Both are secured networks for the wireless connections and have different SSIDs.
After online research, and the inability to find my exact question answered, this is what I did and I'd like to know if I'm missing anything to keep A and B completely separate. Or, if I've done anything that will cause any problems on my network. [code]
I disabled the ability to change settings using wireless connection on both routers.
I set up my new EA4500 last night, and configured the 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz bands with separate SSIDs (as recommended). While I can see the 2.4Ghz band with all of my devices, I cannot see the 5Ghz band with any of them.I followed the advice given (including the settings shown) on the EA4500 FAQ.Title: Personalizing and connecting to the 5 GHz wireless band on a Linksys Wireless-N routerArticle ID: 21466.Did that *multiple* times, and still nothing. I recently bought a Cisco e3000 router. I updated the firmware but I am still only getting 1.33 Mbps at most. The only things plugged into it is my PC and my xbox. I bought the router so i could get a better connection on my xbox so netflix wont stop playback.

I bought a WD 1TB hard drive, formatted it with the router set everything up. after about a day I tried to upload a file from work and got an error, and it wiped the harddrive clean. I reloaded thinking it was a fluke and everything worked fine for about a month. Uploading and downloading worked fine from where ever I was at, on the local network or over the internet. Then I tried to upload a small file, got the error and all of my files were gone again.

I can get an address on the computer and an old router by directly connecting the cable to the computer or the router. I can also daisy-chain the e3000 to the old router, and I can get an address on the e3000 from the old router. I have hard reset the e3000, changed firmware from the Linksys to TomatoUSB and back to Linksys, and I still can't get it to work. It worked fine on Saturday until a bolt of lightning hit close to the house. Since then, I cannot get the e3000 to connect to the ISP.

And it's not just the internet, I have a media server connected to it, and usually when I put something on it, the transfer rate is about 3.5MB/s (not bits, bytes). But everything is slow, I top out at speed of maybe 1/6 normal on the internet as well.

I used the e3000 router when we lived in town with broadband internet and it worked fine. I can't get it to keep a hold of a signal. I can connect to the router from the computers but the router drops the signal from the tower. I have an old router that the wireless company was kind enough to lend me that works , but the signal is weak and it could die at any moment... I"m at my wits end.. I have an expensive piece of equipment that wont hold the signal. I have updated the firmware and the Cisco connect software..
View 5 Replies View RelatedHas anyone tested QoS on the new E3000? Whenever I add an application (e.g. Voice Device) and set priority to Medium or High, my upstream bandwidth for everything else is immediately cut significantly, even when I'm not using the priority application.
For example, with QoS disabled, I can consistently get 10Mb upstream (speedtest.comcast.net). As soon as I enable QoS, upstream is capped to exactly 2Mb! On my old router, there was an option to set the total upstream bandwidth -- but on the E3000 there is no such option that I can find.
