I would like to setup a a wireless antenna so one of my relatives can get online. I live in the city with a dsl connection and they live two houses down and out of the city limits. Can I configure the wireless connection so they can not use it to download music and movies ? Just to use it to browse the internet and check mail. Is it possible to throttle the band width they could use?

It is both wired and wireless combination. We have it set for dial-up connection. The AV I currently use is AVAST Free.What is the usual port forwarding methods used for this type of router as I am unable to do any special downloads of music and movies anymore. I had contacted TBayTel and they said that they would give me a static address I could use. [code]

I love this router have 35 Mbps on internet speed so I don't think that is the problem. Range runs from 35 up to 45 Mbps all the time. I know how to access my router settings and navigate where to go and what to change if I can. I have 3 laptops, 1 wireless printer, two blue-ray devices attached.

This is very annoying when i am trying to download a game and do something else. Now this isn't an ISP problem, the internet light is always on for that. But the router seems like it might be the problem. I have a linksys e2000. Is there anything I can do to prevent this annoying intermittent connection during heavy use?

I use itunes/apple airport express to play music located on a Buffalo NAS (LAN connection to E3200) on my home stereo. Before upgrading I was able to do this without a problem. Any suggestions for improving performance with streaming music at home? Internet/access to files on Buffalo NAS wirelessly works fine.

I have been using handbrake to convert both blu-ray and DVD movies to MP4 videos with AAC audio and I have been getting strange results. If I convert a blu-ray movie to MP4 with a DTS audio track down mixed to Dolby Pro Logic II AAC then I can play the movie and I am able to fast forward and rewind. If I convert the same movie but convert the audio in any other way, AC3 pass through etc., the video will play but I will not be able to fast forward or rewind.
I want to separate my house in three zones plus guest W LAN. One for my mother in law living upstairs, One Gega-net for my family and one for my own little company office. Additionally I want W LAN on three of the V LAN's in addition to one guest W LAN.
And I want remote access to my music on the family LAN and my documents on the office LAN.
Can I accomplish this with one (W LAN)router or do I need more equipment?

The TV sees the media on the device and music plays fine. However, every movie I've tried shows up with an exclamation point and when I try to play it I get a message to the effect that "unable to open media". Is the EA4500 media server only compatible with certain movies?
I am sharing media from my Linksys E3000 router and would like to use subtitles (in separate files) for movies. It is working when I am using Samsung PC based AllShare server but not while using E3000 UPnP server. On the other hand I found some info on the web that Twonky should support subtitles. But maybe different version then embedded into E3000.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI use to could be able to watch videos and listen to music, and download at optimal speeds, I could even watch HD if I wanted to, but now all of a sudden (starting at least 3 weeks ago) videos, downloads, and music seem to run super slow no matter what quality I have it on. It takes 5 minutes to buffer a 3 min video, and if I want to watch a show, it take like 2 or 3 hours to fully buffer. My internet still goes fast, and I have trendmicro antivirus, as well as ccleaner, i updated my drivers, i have ie9 and adobe flashhplayer 11.1, i updated everything in windows update, i unplugged the modem for awhile and shut down more often, and opened it up and blew all the dust out. I don't know what else to do. I do have a cisco E2000 wireless router if that's a problem, and both my ps3 and my computer are on the connection, but my computer was working fine with both on the same connection for a year. I go on the http:192.168.1.1 cisco place, and i renewed ip settings, and nothing worked.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 655 and two TVs. One is connected to my network by a Samsung 5700 Blu Ray player, and the other is connected by x box. The x box is 20 ft away from my router and the Blue Ray is about 60 away with one wall between. The x box pulls movies down and plays them no problem, and Blue Ray takes about a minute for loading the moving, will start playing but them pauses several times throughtout the movie showing the loading sign on screen.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am on a 4Mbps internet line.i have 3 PCs connected to the internet through a router. i noticed that direct downloads on the 2 PCs that are connected to the router wirelessly are capped at about 50-60kbps/sec per download. just to clarify, i can still achieve a full speed of 400kbps in total, but just that each download is capped at 50-60kbps.however, on the PC that is connected directly to the router via ethernet cable i am able to download well over 150kbps per download.so i don't think it's my ISP that is capping my downloads here, but i can't figure out why downloads would be capped on the wireless PCs. is it some settings on my router? i have everything pretty much set on default. the modem is a D-Link 2640B.
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo I got 8MB/1MB internet at home and so far I haven't been able to fix the problem I have: if I watch youtube and try to play pretty much any game that uses internet, i go from 70ms ping to 300ms++ instantly. Even if only two computers are on and both have the same game on, just opening a Google Chrome with one youtube tab on causes a HUGE ping. Two computers with youtube and CS 1.6 on shouldn't cause that.My setup is as following: old ZyXel ADSL-modem 660 series with one LAN port and web config (so it has settings to be modify) and a Linksys WRT54GL with DD-WRT v23. All computers I use run either 32-bit Windows 7, Vista or XP. However, it doesn't matter which computers I use; I've tried this with more than 5 computers already. All cables have also been tested and changed.
