ok the title is not all that descriptive. windows 7 will share the music with the xbox if its on the c deive however i do not keep my music on the c drive i keep my music on a second hard drive and windows will not share the music on that hard drive even thogh i have told it to share that drive and gave it full permissions. what do i need to do to make windows 7 share my music hard drive with the xbox 360?

After failing to find a sucessful way, I decided I would just print it on her printer. Problem is, we have been unsucessful in using google cloud print, or setting up a remote connection or VPN in windows in order for me to print to her computer. Both computers are running Vista. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have between 8 and 10 computers on my home LAN. They are split between the default workgroup name 'WORKGROUP' and the name I have assigned to my home LAN.There is a mixture of Win XP, Win 7 32 & 64 and various levels of Ubuntu.
After 6 long days of trying I have made not one step forward in allowing file/printer sharing.The Windows machines are all running Comodo Internet Security, on one of which I have created my idea of a set of rules to allow file/print sharing.The Windows XP machine, with a user created set of firewall rules,can see no computers on the network (using My Network Places), aside from itself and the shares created on it.It cannot see the computers which are not in the workgroup.
The most common error message this computer generates is 'network path not found'. A win 7 32 bit computer, in the workgroup, can see all other computers that are in the workgroup, including itself, twice.It cannot access any shares on the Linux computers. It is able to access shares on the Windows XP computer.ufw Firewall is installed and enabled on one Linux machine and has a vaguely similar set of file/print sharing rules.That machine can see nothing at the Network place.A couple of hours ago it could see the machines that are NOT in my workgroup but could not see the machines that are!
Another linux computer can see the two workgroups (named and default) within the windows network, but cannot browse either workgroup. The most common error message from sharing attempts with the Linux machines is 'unable to mount location. Failed to retrieve share list from server'.Right now I am reduced to transferring USB sticks between adjacent computers....

I've also tried remaking the VPN and turning off the firewalls but nothing works. Also, I've heard that I can use a bridge connection instead, but don't I need a wireless connection for that? I use another USB broadband for backup anytime the first one is not working. The problem now is anytime i sue the USB broadband, it is only the host system that will work. other system will not work. I use it sometimes and it worked suddenly it stopped working and I have tried all I can.

I just hooked up a new (wired) computer and it won't work on the network either. With the wireless computer, if I click on "view workgroup computers" I can see all the computers but cannot access them. With the 2 wired computers, I always get the message, "MSHOME is not accessible," etc. Funny thing is, the network used to work. I don't know what happened to it. I just formatted this new wired computer and loaded XP on it, used the network setup wizard, but keep getting the "not accessible" message. However, last month, I was working on my mom's computer and I put it on my network (hardwired). I had just formatted it and put XP on it and with that computer, I was able to access the laptop computer through the network.I have tried several times to create a new network by using the network setup wizard but it keeps saying that MSHOME is unavailable.I am using XP service pack 3 on all computers, Zone Alarm on 2 of the computers (the router and the new computer), and Windows Firewall on the other wired computer. I can access the Internet with all 3 computers.

When one of those users tries to connect to the share from a PC, he is denied permissions, but when the same user connects to the share from a Mac, the file permissions work as they are set.I checked effective permissions for each user in the group, and they have the access they are supposed to. I've tried re-creating the share, recreating the group, and comparing the permissions to another share that is set up the same way (but working properly).

I have a little small network created with 6 computers. 5 of them are windows xp home and pro. jsut bought a new laptop with windows 7 64 bit home pre. All the xp laptops can share files easily but the windows 7 is giving me a really hard time.

Ok, I have a new win 7 pc and my old win xp pc has all my video and picture files. On both of my xp pc's i can transfer files via my network places. Can I and if so how do I do that from the xp pc to the win 7 pc? I can stream the videos from the xp on the win 7 but not transfer them.

I was trying to do this by setting up a static IP. Here is the thread I posted to ask questions about it. I also used Hamachi to do the same thing. It basicly creates another netowork for you to connect to other people on, I guess. When I started using it another network appeared in my network and sharing center.I have tried reseting my modem and router. I've checked my network settings on my PC and my Xbox 360 and they both look like they use to look before I tried to use my PC as a server.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to stream videos from my PC to my Xbox 360 via the Windows Media Center app. I've got it all set up, my PC detects the 360 just fine and vice-versa. However, when I go into the app on the 360 and select the video to play, it plays it extremely pixelated. Usually it just freezes up on an extremely pixelated frame while the sound of the video continues on as normal. I've tried MP4, MKV, AVI, WMV, etc. all at multiple resolutions all with the same result.I can stream just fine via HBO, Netflix, Amazon, etc. so I don't think it is my network or internet speed. I've tried putting the 360 on a static IP, I've gone through all the FAQ from Microsoft about enabling Windows Services and the like, none of which has made a difference.I am able to stream to my PS3 just fine, so I am not sure what is going on with the 360.
