I am trying to stream videos from my windows 7 desktop to my Xbox 360. When I try to do it through windows media player it doesn't work. But when I use some third party software like tversity, my Xbox and pc can communicate perfectly. why does it only work through tversity and not wmp?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am wanting to make my desktop wireless I have a D LINK dual band wireless router now. My laptop is wireless and works fine my desk top is hardwired to router. Thinking of moving my moden and router to TV and making my desktop wireless and hardwireing my media server I think it called ( still yet to be bought still doing home work on which one to get and how to hook up ) Thinking less signal loss be hardwired to media server. I now have AT&T DSL 1.5 MB upgrading to 6.0 MB to stream netflicks . Do you think 6 MB will steam OK? Should I Go with just a USB adapter or go to PCI internal Adapter? In reading some of the other post seems hit or miss on adapter seeing and working with routher. Is there a brand or type of adapte I should look at? as I said Desktop will now be wireless media hardwire dose this sound like the way to go about doing this? Any media server that seems to work better than others . not doing x box or Wii not a gamer just want to stream Netflix without buffering and as good a picture as Poss.

1. Motorola SBV5220 Surfboard Cable Modem for internet
2. Rosewill 8 Port Switch RC-406X
And I have:
1. Dell Q6600 desktop running on Windows 7
2. Dell Latitude laptop running on Windows XP
3. Xbox 360
These all need access to the internet.Up until now, everything worked fine. The Motorola modem was connected in Slot 1 and my desktop, laptop and Xbox were all 3 connected into slots 2, 3 and 4.The other day, I accidentally pressed a switch in my home that switched off my modem. Anyway, once everything was reset, things changed.I can no longer be on the internet with all 3 devices at the same time. Either only the laptop can be connected, with the 2 other devices being offline, or just the desktop and not the laptop.Whenever I gain access to the internet via the desktop, it shows as Network 10 and if I try and repair the connection on the laptop, it says it is unable to renew the IP address. If I switch it up and I have access on my laptop but try and have access on the desktop, the network shows up as Unidentified.
it all xbox was connecting fine before i upgraded to windows 7?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI can't remember the last time I connected to the Windows media center on my Xbox 360 but I know recently I have tried to run a game server on the PC that the media center runs on. I was trying to do this by setting up a static IP. Here is the thread I posted to ask questions about it. I also used Hamachi to do the same thing. It basicly creates another netowork for you to connect to other people on, I guess. When I started using it another network appeared in my network and sharing center.I have tried reseting my modem and router. I've checked my network settings on my PC and my Xbox 360 and they both look like they use to look before I tried to use my PC as a server.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to stream videos from my PC to my Xbox 360 via the Windows Media Center app. I've got it all set up, my PC detects the 360 just fine and vice-versa. However, when I go into the app on the 360 and select the video to play, it plays it extremely pixelated. Usually it just freezes up on an extremely pixelated frame while the sound of the video continues on as normal. I've tried MP4, MKV, AVI, WMV, etc. all at multiple resolutions all with the same result.I can stream just fine via HBO, Netflix, Amazon, etc. so I don't think it is my network or internet speed. I've tried putting the 360 on a static IP, I've gone through all the FAQ from Microsoft about enabling Windows Services and the like, none of which has made a difference.I am able to stream to my PS3 just fine, so I am not sure what is going on with the 360.

Adding the extender from Media Center always claims it can't find the X Box (Yes, I did enter the 8 digit key exactly as displayed on TV).
Ive been trying to work this out on XBL forum for a while. all my settings seem to be correct ( UPnP, NAT type: open, no port forwarding or triggering, IP settings on Xbox's are auto).
The two Xbox can play online separately, when either one of them attempts to join the others party it disconnects from Xbox live.
According to the microsoft website, Xbox live only supports the Hardware version 1A and Firmware: 1.00NA.
My router has B1 and 2.00NA. is there a way to downgrade?

The desktop can see the notebook (shared folders), but the notebook cannot see the desktop. I cannot now generate a network map (I could earlier today), due to an "incompatible device".
There are also wireless connections but currently I don't use them. Both machines are on the same-named connection. Homegroup doesn't work at all on either computer.
I would really like to print from the notebook. All the printers are wired into the desktop. All are shared. Yesterday I could print from the notebook. On occasion, the homegroup shows both computers but hasn't for a while. In File Explorer, on the notebook, not even the notebook appears under the Network icon.
I have a Windows 7 desktop (so it's NOT wireless) that is having problems with packet loss. Now, the modem is fine, I've tested 'pingtest' on some laptops and the packet loss is very minimal. I've tried reinstalling the drivers for the LAN controller, using a different ethernet cable, using the 'winsock' reset command, and I have no luck. This does effect upload times on YouTube, to where a minute long video takes an hour.

I know the problem isn't with the router or internet connection themselves, as my laptop works perfectly fine. I've tried resetting the TCP/IP, resetting the modem, and resetting the WINSOCK entries. And it's been running in great shape until this. I'll retrace my steps as best I can.I was on the internet and my connection was still connected (Completely, not limited) but my browser wouldn't surf. I naturally restarted my router, nothing changed. So I restarted my computer. When it came back on the Wireless didn't boot up like it used to. I checked my internet, it was fine. My laptop was running fine on it.Now as I try to figure out whats wrong, my "Wireless Network Connection" is gone completely from my computer. AND the Wireless isn't on my device manager anymore?? I installed another USB wireless stick (which I used on my old desktop) and it's working ok but I feel like my connection used to be so much better which the ASUS wifi instead. View 10 Replies View RelatedMy Windows 7 desktop cannot use the ethernet connection for some reason while it works just fine on my Macbook Pro. When I run ipconfig in CMD I'm seeing a 169 IP address which from my googling of the issue I understand is invalid. When I run network diagnostics to try to fix it the result is that "Local Area Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration, and that this is now FIXED. My network and sharing center screen even claims I have internet access for a few seconds (instead of a red x between the network and internet icons) before dropping out again.I've been trying all kinds of stuff to try to fix this like ipconfig /release and /renew but this doesn't work because it says an address hasn't been associated with the network endpoint and so no operation can be performed "while it has its media disconnected."

I have a Win 7 machine with Win SBS 2011 in my office and an iMac. The Win machine is being setup for Exchange 2010. My problem is this: I can't Remote Desktop in from my iMac into the Win machine, but CAN when outside the network.The Win7 machine has a static IP, the iMac a dynamic. When I access the internal part of my router I can only see my iMac. I get a "can't connect to win-based machine" error when I try to Remote Connect.The only thing I can think is that using the same gateway is somehow messing things up? I've had two techs try to figure this out and they're both stumped.I was maybe thinking that since both comps are going out the same gateway that I should try anc configure the iMac to try and RDC on a different port, since maybe the iMac is listening on 3389 and sending the RDC back to itself?
