Mar 28, 2012I can not access Windows Live Messenger, it will not connect. I can visithotmail.com but not delete or send any e-mails. It says Hotmail is not responding.I can also not access Windows Update. When I search for updates it comes back with error 80072EE2. I also have problems accessing secure websites where I need to pay for something, e-Bay, paypal, make payments off Credit Cards etc.However I can access all websites on my iPhone over the same Wi-Fi. I took the same laptop to 2 other addresses and it works fine at both and able to access all webpages etc!I am running Windows 7 and have tried IE, Safari and Firefox, all with same problems. I am with o2 home broadband and have been with them for years with no problems. I have replaced the router, and have another new router on the way, but am expecting the same problems!

I had to perform all kinda of removal actions but I just noticed in my network domain that his name followed by "PC" & under "media devices" & "network infrastructure" contains his name again w/ PC & devices called [TV]UNE40ES6100.I am using the program's wireless service which I am allowed-to. Mar 3, 2012I have a home network running all Mac computers (though can run Windows VM if necessary) and a pair of USB printers. The wireless router and cable modem are in one room, but the printers are in another. I'd like to find the most practical way to add the printers to the local wireless network without sharing them from a computer. I've tried that for a while, but don't want to leave a laptop connected 24/7 just to enable wireless printing (rather defeats the purpose of a portable computer). I don't have any wired network lines in the home, and am not excited by the idea of running any cables.

Mar 13, 2011I have a question about my windows systems(XP and Vista) re-connecting to my network folders when my computers restart. I have some shared network folders on my Synology DS410. And then i mapped a network drive to use those folders.But every time i restart my computer i get the message "cannot reconncet all network drives"I have to put in my username and password everytime. I choose Remember login and password.How can i fix this so it automatically connects to these on restart?

Both connected via wired LAN
My iSCSI drives connect just fine on restart. Just not my mapped network folders.

Mar 20, 2013I finally was able to connect two of my computers up to share files. The only problem is My Win7 computer can't see the xp computer although the Xp can see the Seven. When I first set it up Explorer showed the name of the Xp but when I clicked on it the dialog said it couldn't find the computer. The Xp name was in all caps and when I checked on the Xp the name was all lower case so I tried to change the name. When I tried, the OK button was grayed out so I went in to So I clicked on More and was able (I thought) to change the name there. I had to reboot and when I did the computer had just appended the DNS entry I had to give to the original lowercase name.
I was finally able to rename the XP computer! I changed the name to NETBOOK all caps like I had originally thought it was. BUT it makes no difference to the Win7 machine it still can't see the XP machine. I did a refresh and the Xp's name NETBOOK showed up But I am still back where I started from because when I click on it a dialog box just says that it can't access ||NETBOOK.
Lost Home Network Map On One Computer?
Feb 8, 2011my set up is simple...main computer cable connected to BT hub (broadband) - second computer, in another room, wirelessly connected through same hub. Recently, I decided to link the two computers with XP using the network wizard. Followed instructions, and everything worked fine until the other day, when the main computer couldn't 'see' second computer (but second computer could see main.) I've checked file sharing and firewall exceptions and all is well. Basically, I am using second computer as extra storage, and so I really would like to make connection again from main computer, not the other way round. Just cannot understand why main can't see second anymore?

Jan 19, 2011I recently got my laptop fixed after it being out of commission for about a year (it turns out there was just too much dust collecting in it) and when I got home and tried to connect to my wifi network, I didn't have internet access. I received a message that said I had sucessfully connected to my network but it was only a local connection - no internet. It also shows up as "Unidentified Network." This is peculiar to me because my boyfriend's laptop is able to connect to the internet wirelessly just fine, and I am currently using the wifi on my iPhone. I ran the ipconfig and several ping tests in cmd and used a wifi inspector.

Nov 21, 2011I am just wondering how to set up a home network with an old computer used as a server... we will have a wii, ps3, lap top, and 2 desktops connected to the network as well as two dell printers. The laptop runs windows XP and the desktops run windows vista. The old computer will will use as a server is windows xp or windows 98 (most likely wont use that computer). Mar 5, 2013I am trying to transfer files from Laptop A to Laptop B. I can transfer files from B to A, but I can't transfer them from A to B. When I try to, I get an error message saying "Windows cannot access Laptop A".It then gives me the option to diagnose the problem (I'm using Vista on both laptops, by the way). When I click that, it gives me the error of "Cannot communicate with Laptop A. We pinged the remote host but did not receive a response".Laptop A is connected to the network according to it, it can access the internet fine and can access other laptops on the network fine. Aug 15, 2012Normally use internet explorer 9, but I've tried Firefox and Chrome also.For some weird reason the Wi-Fi on my computer is super slow. My roommate has no problems at all. Same issue when only one of us are connected. What's really weird is that it's only on my home network the speed is a problem. At school and at other family members houses everything is working perfectly. I now use wired internet connection, and when I take a speedtest it is around 13MB, so the speed is pretty good.
I can mention that sometimes if my computer has been closed and the cable is taken out, when I turn the computer back on the Wi-Fi is suddenly working perfectly. Only for a while though, and then it's not working anymore. Has happened more rarely recently.I've been having this problem for around 7weeks now. When I first discovered the problem I tried to uninstall the latest updates (among windows updates), and it actually worked. But I want my computer to be up to date, so it's not a go to use those settings.
I have tried to reset the router to factory settings, but that did not work.We share internet with our landlord, so to privatize what we do, it's set up like this: Landlords modem -> switch in our apartment -> wireless router But that should not be problem. It's working on everyone else's computers. My mobile phone as no issues either;I've tried to update the driver on the wireless card, but it's up to date.

Oct 25, 2011I'm working at a high school which has pretty large grounds. The network is configured via one central router and a lot of access points. Recently, they shut down my access point for a moment after connecting it again. The access point works fine (after finding my problem we've tested a lot of computers and they all connect to it and the internet). My laptop and my desktop - the only computers connected to access point when it was rebooted - do not connect to this access point however!
Instead, they "choose" to connect to an access point farther away, so that my signal strength is extremely low (and hence, my internet connection is very poor).How do I get my computers to connect to the previous access point with the strong signal?

Sometimes it occurs, sometimes not (during the same session of usage of NB). This is annoying because usually I need to work with NB on files which are stored in DSK through local network, so if I need to apply a change to a file, sometimes I won't have a chance to do that.

It came with Windows 7 Home Premium installed and because of that, I can't join it to the Windows Server 2003 domain we have. Apr 4, 2012I have a Linksys WRT54G to which 2 computers are connected of which one has no problems at all.The other computer just had its hard drive replaced and Windows XP Pro SP1 installed on the new hard drive. With the new operating system, I cannot get the computer to access the router. The connection status reports that the network device is working but IPCONFIG /ALL reports nothing (blank). The NIC is onboard the motherboard (ASUS P5LP-LE). I have swapped out cable ports at the router and tried a different cable to the faulty computer to no avail. If I had a spare NIC I would already have tried that too. FYI, it was working without problems prior to the hard drive crash that prompted the new drive and OS install.I tried a wireless USB network interface (Zonet ZEW2508) and the computer also reports it working. However, the network icon continually cycles between connected and unavailable, about 6 seconds connected and 1 second unavailable. IPCONFIG also reports blank on this.
