Linksys Wireless Router :: 9000 Cannot Get To Free Ports
Jul 29, 2012
I am in a small office and we have a Buffalo NAS being used. Configuring it was fairly easy, but recently it just stop letting us have web access. My External and Internal Ports were 9000, but for some reason now my router will not even show that there is a 9000 port and even if I port forward it. It does no good what good possibly be keeping this port invisible after it was being used the last couple of months. I called my cable company and they said they are not blocking it. But right now I cant access the server from a remote location.

I'm looking to setup a few ip security cameras in my house and would like to monitor from work. The first thing I did was give the ip camera a static ip on my local LAN 192.168.1.104. I also forwarded port 9000 to this ip. I then went to [URL] to look up my external ip address. I was able to obtain one ip for my router and another for my modem (disconnected router and went direct through modem).
I've since tried to ping my router WAN ip from work numerous times via http://24.x.xxx.xx:9000 and I get timeout errors. I've tried traceroute and it gets close, but times out the last 3 hops. I've had Comcast on the phone many times trying to resolve and needless to say they weren't able to work.

We have a number of sites which have high-speed L2 links which terminate on our L3 switches at each site. The ports are between the sites are placed in routed mode.
I would like to use Jumbo frame between two of the network which will communicate across sites and 1500 mtu on the rest, is this something which is possible?
From my understanding is the mtu is set on the interface therefore if I set the mtu on the L2 link ports on both sites to 9000 then would this cause a problem for the 1500?

dynDNS (dyn.com) doesn't offer any free version of their service anymore. Without using 3rd party firmwares: Is it possible to use other free DDNS services like no-ip for DDNS and if not, will there be an update soon that includes free DDNS hosts?

I've been really stumped when I decided to start using xbox live. When ever I try to join my friends party I am slammed with a NAT error. For years now I have not been able to forward ports at all. Any port checkers come back with unable to contact your router.I am fairly certain its the router because, I directly plugged my 360 into my modem and everything worked like a charm.I've read on a similar post found here "Similar post" that updating the firmware might fix the issue?

I have an E2500 and i need to disable the ports on the router. I have a DSL line going in and thats it. I do not want it to be able to accept any wired device and have someone get on the internet. I do not want someone to just take a laptop, with a LAN able, plug it into a port, and get internet. How would i be able to disable the ports?

This is my first experience using a Cisco Linksys router. Up to now I've always used DLink. But when my newest Dlink router failed for the 3rd time I decided it was time to find a better make. The Linksys E2500 came highly recommended. The trouble I am having is that I've been using an old DLink DI-604 wired router as a hub to get 3 extra wired ports. But with the linksys router I can't get this to work.. Can this be done with this router and if so, how do I have to setup the routers?

I recently joined an ISP support desk and increasingly often come across LAN configuration with a separate "modem" (DSL cable mobem or Fibre/Satellite/Fixed Wireless box - will call all these toys "modems" from now on). I have a bit of an issue understanding the difference between Internet and LAN ports of Lynksis routers (there are other brands too but as the most advanced on the market, Linksys has been given me the hardest time so far).
Let's take WRT-120N as it is one of the most popular Linksys models out there. Basically, I am coming to a conclusion that the 4 LAN ports act like switch ports and cannot have different IP addresses (so as a single WRT-120 device could be a gateway for up to 4 different networks) and Internet port is the one that is getting an address different from LAN port address (gets it from "modem"). If my understanding is right, "modem" must be hooked up only to WAN port to work and if we connect it to one of the 4 LAN ports we cannot access Internet. But is my understanding right or wrong??Also, can these routers have one default gateway address for Ethernet connection and a different one for WiFi?Are there any other differences between Internet and LAN ports? If you get to decide what port to connect the "modem" to does it matter what is the "modem's" physical implementation? (DSL modem, Sat box, etc)I possess X3000 home gateway myself and have a similar question about it's Cable and LAN ports which I will post in "Cable and DSL" forum.

The last few weeks I've been having problems with my 360 Slim. Sometimes it boots up just fine, other times it wont connect to XBL at all. Some days I have a open NAT, other days I have a moderate NAT.
I have followed the steps on the portforward website. I make a static IP and all that good stuff. I open the ports, using the IP address the Portforward static IP program gives me. After that...My computer stops working. It fails to connect me to any websites at all.I'm running a Linksys ea3500 router.

I am using remote management to attempt to open port 8889 on my Linksys WRT54G router. I have successfully opened ports 22 and 80 with no problem. Additionally, I can close and reopen these ports without having to physically reset the router. However, if I try to open any other port (I have tried various ports: 23, 100, 8888, 8889, and several others) this port will not open. The ISP this router is connected to is Comcast and according to this site URL port 8889 isn't among the ports that Comcast blocks. I have tried everything I can think of to resolve this issue (short of manually resetting the router or restoring the default settings).

Is there a wireless router available that will support a free dynamic DNS provider such as [URL], without the need for custom firmware?
I have a device that requires DDNS, and I do not want to mess with firmware updates. I've already bricked a router trying to do that. So I'm looking for a replacement router that requires little to no modifications to use a free DDNS provider.

I just upgraded to an E4200 from a D-Link DIR-655. I cannot seem to get my desktop to connect to the E4200 at 1 GBS. My adapter is set to "auto negotiate" but will only connect at 100 MBS. If I try forcing the adapter setting to 1 GBS, it never connects. I can swap out my E4200 with the DIR-655 and it will connect at 1 GBS just fine. I am using a CAT 5E cable. Is there something I'm missing here or is the E4200 just more finicky than the the DIR-655?

I bought the EA6500 yesterday, to replace my E3200.Formerly, with the E3200, I was able to block applications on the router admin page, without blocking all internet access, under the "Access Restrictions" Tab. I could create access policies that allowed internet access to specific devices, while blocking port ranges/protocols for specific applicatons. while this didn't work for Skype, which jumps from one port to the other until it finds an open one, it worked perfectly for World of Warcraft. the primary target of my restrictions.in common with the old setup for the E3200, the new cloud login allows me to block internet access completely to a device. it also allows me to block websites to my heart's content, an improvement upon the old system, which stopped at four. but to my great surprise, it will not allow me to specify port blockages for specific apps for specific devices., while the new EA6500 is blessed with the added capability of actually recognizing applications by name, *it is only to give them greater priority*. the Media Prioritization tab lets you give a ton of your bandwith to specific apps, but won't let you throttle or block them. Is there some way to work around this? Some alternative firmware? again, I don't want/need to block all internet access to a particular computer. I only need to block some apps (World of Warcraft, and Skype, possibly some torrents) by closing some ports.
