I have cisco catalyst 6509 with 2 x WS-X6k-SUP2-2GE. on the supervisor module is a switchload led indicator . I switch has never load according to load indicator.
Do i need to enable this in the switch config. The switch is running catos
I need to implement over an ethernet link L2 tunnel because I want to isolate another VLANs domain.On the first side I can use the command : sw mo dot1q-tunnel on a new C4503 on the other side I cannot configure the command : sw mo dot1q-tunnel.
the other side is an old C4503 we upgrade the flash with a compact flash to upgrade to a new IOS v15 but the command doesn't exist also.I red the cisco feature navigator feature and I am sure the dot1Q-tunnel is available on my image : cat4500-ipbasek9-mz.150-2.SG.binso I don't know why I can use it.
I am going to upgarde SUP2 to SUP32 on my 6509 by next week. right now I have 2 SUPs on the 6509 in redundant mode.

I just found out that I can not have the CISCO WS-X6500-SFM(Cisco Switch Fabric Module switch) with Sup32 and I have to remove 2 xCISCO WS-X6500-SFM2 modules from the switch.I am using this switch as a access switch and most of the ports are 100Mbps.

we have a WS-X6K-SUP2-2GE running CATOS software, we are facing a TCAM exhaustion.I would like to know the following:
1. during an exhaustion, based on what ACLs will be kept in hardware or moved to software? the name or number gives any precedence to an ACL over another ACL?
2. If the TCAM's utilisation was on the limit and we increased ACEs to a specific ACL, all the ACL will be moved to software or only the new entries?
I am unable to find a sample config that doesnt use autoqos.

I found cpu load around 90 - 100% on cisco 3845, so I show tech-spec and show log on router and found process "Virtual Exec" use high load. I'm not sure this situation make high latency time on my network.

1) the 3 routers are on DHCP from the ISP on the WAN side.
2) the 3 ciscos are on the same class C subnet on the LAN side: 10.201.1.252, 10.201.1.253 and 10.201.1.254
I am seeing on my 3750E series switches (WS-C3750E-48TD). I have multiple VLANs configured on here, one which is used as a 'workstation' VLAN. I have an inbound ACL applied to the VLAN interface *(int vlan 50 to be exact). This list is admittedly long at roughly 6000 ACE's. Now I just recently installed these switches as they replaced some 4507R switches which we moved to our new centralized DC. Here is the issue I am having. This same ACL was applied to the same VLAN interface on the 4507s when they were doing the work of the 3750s. What I used to be able to do was actually edit the ACL by removing it with no ip access-list extended WS-In and then followed up by the ip access-list extended WS-In ......and the lines I wanted in the ACL. I know I could use the line numbers to edit the ACL but this worked OK for me. When I would do this on the 4507R, the ACL was still applied to the interface but traffic never seemed affected by the removal and re-adding of the ACL. I did this by copying and pasting the ACL into a terminal window. It seemed as though on the 4507 the ACL was not compiled until the entire thing was in loaded in and therefore traffic was not processed by the ACL until the load was done

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 2821 Router, with a VWIC2-2MFT card in it, with two T1s going into that card. The two T1s are a bundled MPLS line.
I then have a cable modem connection going into the gigabit Ethernet GE 0/1 port on the router.
Right now, the cable modem provides a backup connection in case the T1s go down.
What I was wondering is if there was a way to 'combine' the bandwidth from the two T1s with the cable modem?
I'm setting up a lot of small remote sites that are only reachable via VHF ethernet radios that operate at 32k. I'm going to be using 2 of these radios shooting to two seperate base station radios to provide diversity. I'm going to have a Cisco 1941 sitting between the two radios and the way I have it configured now is to only use one radio and the second is only sitting there in case the primary fails. I was thinking though that I could load balance them to give a little more throughput. The devices at these sites are really low speed but we like to use snmp to monitor everything that is ethernet so I wanted to give as much bandwidth as I can.
Will load balancing work in this situation? What would the basic configuration be? This is all internal to our network so there are no ISPs to deal with. We're using C1900-UNIVERSALK9-M IOS will that work or will I need to change that?

I am familiar with the primary Sorry Server command and see that the CSS would send all connections to the named service that is configured as the primary Sorry Server.
What I would like to do is to configure the CSS, so that once it’s decided it’s in a “sorry” state (all the services that are configured with “add service” are down) that it load balances to a different set of services.
To explain what I’ve been trying to do in the form of configuration on the CSS, I’ve pasted some pretend config below.
Connections come into IP address 1.1.1.1, which normally get load balanced between 9.1.1.1, 9.1.1.2 and 9.1.1.3.
If 9.1.1.1, 9.1.1.2 and 9.1.1.3 are all down, the sorry service is used and the CSS starts passing traffic to 1.1.2.1, which I want it to load balance between 9.1.2.1, 9.1.2.2 and 9.1.2.3.
The order that I have applied the config, is different to the below, as I set out to configure in this order: secondary services, secondary content, sorry service, primary services, primary content.
The order of the config below is different, because I wanted it in the order that the traffic flows and the CSS won’t take the config in that order!
The wall I have ran into, is that when I try to create the service I have named “Sorry Service”, I get the following error:

This model (WS-C2960-48TC-S) come with lan lite image and it's the same (phisically) of the 2960 TC-L (lan base image).If I try to upload the lan base image on flash of 2960 TC-S will works?? ..or the switch goes damaged?

I've 3750X switch that isn't loading email. then I went to rommon mode and accidently for "format flash". after that I loaded 15.0 SE2 s/w on it using tftp server but it doesn't boot up with that image. flash had only .bin file after I loaded it from tftp server.
since it wasn't booting up, I did format flash again and thought to load image again from tftp server but now, it doesn't load image from tftp server.

We are using a few Cisco2811's with the AIM-SSL2 hardware encryption module in a private WAN. This WAN is ethernet based and uses private address space.To add security, we are using cisco group-VPN with AES-128 encryption. The IOS version is advanced ip services.Routing is done with OSPF. According several sources on the cisco site this hardware combination should be able to handle a throughput of 30 -90 Mbit/s.In effect, we see that the CPU uses 60% at 2 Mbit/s load and almost flatlines at 100% on 4 Mbit/s load.With a 'show proc cpu' however the biggest individual process uses only 1,5%.The testscenario at which the 30 - 90 Mbit/s load get reached is a point-to-point Ipsec solution encrypted at 3DES.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have probem with symmetric load balancig, in case when both ends of ether channel are on the sam switch (we are using VLAN translation).We need to create L2 port channel with both ends on same switch (Cisco WS-C4500X-24X-ES), for example:Po1 – Gi0/1, Gi0/3 (one end of port channel )Po2 – Gi0/2, Gi0/4 (other end of port channel)On ports in Po2 we will configure VLAN mapping.My question is what is the best ether-channel load-balancing scheme with wich we can accomplish full symmetry in both directions? For example, if traffic in one direction goes through Gi0/1 (member of Po1), in other direction also must go through Gi0/1. This is required because we need to connect four appliances for DPI (they are full L2 transparent) and traffic through each appliance need to be symmetric.
I can set-up src-ip, dst-ip, src-dst-ip etc. load balancing, but, actually I need src-ip on Po1 and dst-ip on Po2. Is there any way to set up different load balancing mechanism for different ether channel on same switch (4500X).
If the load balancing is set to src-dst-ip, will a layer 2 switch forward based on that information? Particularly talking about a 6500, with trunk interfaces, since those packets never go to the layer 3 engine, will the load-balancing work as intended?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have our network setup as displayed in the attached. We have 2 HQ offices and 1 branch office. The branch office needs to connect to resources located at both HQs but taking the most effecient path. We have ethernet circuits connecting from each HQ to 2 x Cisco 3560 switches in the branch. HSRP has been configured on the 3560 switches with SW1 as active and SW2 as standby. OSFP has been configured in a single area 0 and the path cost on the link between HQs has been increase to allow 3560 SW1 to route to HQ1 directly and HQ2 via 3560 SW2.The 3560s are connected with a trunk with a L3 SVI for OSPF. This seems to work ok but I have noticed that the branch could become transit if the HQ1 to HQ2 link breaks. How can this be avoided? I realise that if we configure the branch subnets and SW1 to SW2 link in a stub area (area1) then all traffic will route from SW1 to HQ1 and will never share over SW2. I'm assuming that this is because OSPF chooses inter-area routes over intra-area.
