View 1 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine has experienced a crash with her Toshiba Satellite while watching a vid on the net.It froze completely so she did a battery pull and re-booted the system. After booting up Windows 7 after the password screen the laptop crashed completely.
The same problem occurred once again so she loaded Windows in safe mode with networking. The computer seemed to function normally so she rebooted into normal mode.Since then everything appears to be functioning except the Wifi (that was used in conjunction with an ADSL net connection). The LED where the Wifi switch is no longer lights up and no Wifi connection can be made.I suspect that as a result of the initial crash the connection settings may have been reset but perhaps the Wifi in the laptop itself has just died and needs to be repaired.
I know it could just be corrupted drivers or something - I updated the drivers for something called "Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter" using the auto update feature in Windows Device Manager but it didn't solve the problem.
I am at my friend's house and she cannot connect her Acer laptop to the her own wifi (netgear router). Her iPad and my laptop (lenovo) both can connect to the wifi. This would lead me to believe that the issue is with her computer but her computer can connect to other wifis in the area...just not her own. I am not sure what is causing this...it may be that program "Acer eNet Management" but that still doesn't explain why she can connect to other wifis and not her own. Is there maybe a compatability issue with netgear and her wifi card?

View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently we have set up internet in our student accommodation flat and for some strange reason the internet speed seems to be incredible low when I am connected using wireless. I am trying to download some stuff and the download speed drops below 10kb/s. The internet speed is very temperamental as it can be fine for a minute and then it will suddenly drop really low. If I disconnect from and reconnect to the network the speed will be high again then it will drop really low again. If I am connected via an ethernet cable the speed is fine and does not drop at all.My ISP is Orange, and I am using an Acer 8930G laptop. Some of my flat mates are experiencing this as well but some aren't. I was wondering whether or not it could just be a laptop thing or a router thing. The speed can drop that low that I can not even browse web pages.
View 2 Replies View Relatedso I have an Acer laptop, and it won't connect to the internet. Whenever I try it says Local Only and won't let me access anything on the web. This happened a few months ago, and I had recently switched to a new router. I know this question has been asked before, but I've tried all the non-specific solutions, and non of them worked.
Also it won't even connect when I use a non-wireless, ie cable, connection.
I have an ACER Aspire 1830 (netbook) and has 3g build in according to the teacher, and it obviously is in because the sim has been put in the laptop (The scrap is in the box from the sim). Everytime I try to use it it says that my APN is incorrect.
I have taken a few steps to try and fix this:
1. I have changed the APN to all of the possible ones from Telstra (telstra.internet, telstra.data, etc.), and none of them seemed to have worked.
2. I asked a friend who has the same laptop whos 3g IS working to check the details on his laptop, and there is no APN or user/pass in his laptop.
I'm unable to trace the wireless function key in my acer 4736 laptop, to connect to wifi
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe computer has a strange habit of dropping my internet connection after it's been turned on for a while. I've already checked to make sure that the setting which allows windows to turn the wireless adapter off to save power is disabled, and I've set my laptop up to use a static IP address which no other device should be using. I'm connecting via wifi. The only way I know to fix the problem is to restart the computer whenever the problem presents itself.I have a motorola surfboard modem and a linksys e1000 router. The computer always says that I am connected and that I have full signal, but it displays an exclamation point over the internet icon saying 'no network access'

I also have a desktop and another laptop in my house and both of them are working and connecting fine. I am not sure what is going on. View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought an Acer laptop running on Windows 8, but the internet would disconnect every few minutes and it would say no internet connectivity or limited connectivity.
I replaced the PC with an other one and I had the same problem. so I returned the PC and bought a Packard Bell running on windows 8 as well, but again the same problem. I do have other computers in my household working fine (not windows 8).
I recently upgraded my dads(vista rig) to windows 7. It ran fine, had all the drivers, etc. The wifi works fine on my home network. However, at his house it's not connecting. I'm currently trying to get model numbers, etc to try and figure it out but in the meantime I was wondering what things to check while waiting on that information? His phone and my sisters laptop connected to the wifi just fine(so he says) but his laptop won't.
I find out but I plan on going over there after work(45 minute drive) and wanted to have a list of things to check so I don't have to do it in multiple trips.

There is only one choice, (being Belkin) in Home Group and would like to take my puter to another room in my house using my WIFI modem occasionally. It did work fantastic at a friends house hooking up to their WIFI. I have been looking for a manual to download, but can't seem to find one on line or at the Acer home page.
