how to switch on the wireless on my Acer laptop aspire 5742G, I want to set up a wireless network at home.
I have an acer aspire 5742g laptop . I use wifi at my home , and the wireless network seemed to work fine there.
Then after a few days I came to the hostel . We have wifi in the hostel , so I tried to connect my laptop with the wifi . And there is a message that came , "Unable to connect to stes(name of the wifi network ) , earlier I thought that it was a temporary thing and that it would work the next day, but then the next day , my room mates arrived and their laptops connected easily without the error message .
1)When I click on the wifi icon on the right hand side bottom bar , I can see the network , but it does not connect , and gives me the same error message .
2)When I click on Network and Sharing Center , and then on manage wireless network , I don't see the name(stes) of the wireless network(So I can't even remove it)
3)I have tried uninstalling, installing, updating my network adapter , drivers etc . but none of the things have worked .
I can't seem to figure out what the problem is . Its really bugging me now :| , I formatted my laptop , restored it to factory settings , nothing worked. I also tried to connect through a hotspot which I made from my mobile and it got connected easily without any problem .

I have a Acer aspire 5742 laptop using Windows 7. Recently the laptop keeps getting disconnected from the router when using wireless, nothing has changed recently at all, except for sky being put in and using the same splitter not sure if this would affect it or not? Is there anything i can do? Like change the wireless channel or something?View 2 Replies View Related

I'm still having problems with my Acer Aspire 5742G not connecting to my home wireless network. Nothing at all changes, but some days the Acer connects, and others not. When it won't connect, it does see the network, and shows that the signal strength is excellent, but it just will not connect. Other devices (2 BlacKBerry's with different OS's, iPad 2, New iPad, iPhone 3G and iPhone 4S) all connect with no problems in exactly the same location, so it seems that the Netgear DGN2200 router is not the problem.
(Acer doesn't seem interested, judging by the number of similar posts I've seen all over the Internet).
I have an ACER Aspire 1830 (netbook) and has 3g build in according to the teacher, and it obviously is in because the sim has been put in the laptop (The scrap is in the box from the sim). Everytime I try to use it it says that my APN is incorrect.
I have taken a few steps to try and fix this:
1. I have changed the APN to all of the possible ones from Telstra (telstra.internet, telstra.data, etc.), and none of them seemed to have worked.
2. I asked a friend who has the same laptop whos 3g IS working to check the details on his laptop, and there is no APN or user/pass in his laptop.
Acer Aspire 5733 connects at 65Mbps over wireless-N and only has 1 ariel/antenna internally (but has 2 ports)...does this effect range?View 12 Replies View Related
I don't think I ever set up my laptop for home WIFI. There is only one choice, (being Belkin) in Home Group and would like to take my puter to another room in my house using my WIFI modem occasionally. It did work fantastic at a friends house hooking up to their WIFI. I have been looking for a manual to download, but can't seem to find one on line or at the Acer home page.View 1 Replies View Related
I just recently bought a wireless router (DIR-615) from dlink. After installing it my laptop cannot connect to the wifi network but all other devices(iphones,etc..) can. After speaking with the dlink techs they told me it probably was a problem with my wifi adapter. I downloaded the latest driver with no success. I don't know what to try anymore.
My computer is a notebook by acer - Aspire 1640
I have an ACER Aspire 5552 laptop. A couple of days ago started having problems connecting to the Internet. Seems to connect to WiFi ok but no Internet connection. I know the router's fine and there is Internet connection because my phone's connected to Internet fine. Even when I use Ethernet cable, it still says there is no Internet connection.View 1 Replies View Related

My ancient HP desktop connects to the network via wired connection. My laptop connects wirelessly (usually). Both have very strong signals from the router and the desktop connects to the internet just like always, but the laptop isn't getting the internet signal. The laptop is an Acer Aspire 5534 (Costco special) and the router is a Linksys Simultaneous Dual Band N-type. The only real significant thing that was done on the laptop was to install Adobe Shockwave Player with Norton Scan. I already have McAfee on the laptop tho, so I uninstalled the Norton. I'm going to do a system restore in a moment.View 2 Replies View Related
My laptop works fine on my network for 80% of the time but the rest of the time I get yellow triangle and the system says limited access. The annoying bit is that when this happens my smartphone is still connected to my wifi network and works perfectly so I can only assume there is a fault on the laptop. I take out the network adapter plug then plug it in and the laptop usually reconnects but sometimes it can take about half an hour!
My laptop is an acer aspire6935 and the operating system is windowsvista home premium. The wireless router is connected to a desktop via a yellow data cable.
One of my laptops (Acer Aspire 5741) won't connect to the internet, it stopped connecting last night at around 9pm UK time. It shows an ! in a triangle over my Internet Access bars. When I troubleshoot the message is 'Your broadband modem is experiencing connectivity issues'. My Compaq mini netbook is not experiencing any problems though. I have tried resetting the router, removing and readding the home network and checking the security key is correct -I do also have a VPN from my university which has been installed since April without any problems. Both the laptop and notebook use windows 7 and Firefox.View 3 Replies View Related
I purchased a new Acer 5742G-6600 from Newegg about 2 weeks ago. When using my wireless connection, I am randomly dropped, then reconnected to the internet. This effects gaming (constantly disconnected from WOW after maybe 2 or 3 minutes) and streaming video. I can connect directly to the router or modem by cable and the issue never occurs. My girlfriends laptop is able to connect to the wireless connection with no issue. We also had a friend over on his laptop, and he had no issue with the wireless connection.I have uninstalled and reinstalled the wifi card drivers (Atheros AR5B97 Wireless Network Adapter), disabled the power management features, and updated Win 7 64-bit.View 9 Replies View Related
I just did a clean format on my acer aspire 5100 laptop, everything went flawlessly until the last driver - the network driver. I installed the Atheros WLAN wifi driver and it installed fine. However, it showed a bubble in the task bar saying "Wireless networks detected, click here to connect" so i clicked the bubble and the network connection tab popped up, but it says "No wireless networks were found in range". I don't know what to do, it is recognizing there are networks in range, and then telling me there aren't and none pop up in the list.
The network adapter is: Atheros AR5005G and it is working properly
Edit: I can connect using ethernet, it's just not showing any routers in the network list to connect to
set up a wi-fi connection between my laptop and cellphone..
My laptop: Acer Aspire 4820t, intel core i3, 2gb ram, running win7 home basic Under network adapters in Control panel, the following items show up..

2.Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter
My cellphone: Motorola Defy running on Android v2.1(Eclair)
I use a USB modem to connect to the internet. I need to set up a wi-fi connection between the laptop and the phone so that i can use the internet connection using the phone.
I've just recently bought a second hand Acire laptop is v.good condition, it does everything fine apart from connect via wireless.I have another laptop which can connect on it's wireless and the Acer laptop can get a connection if you use a network cable directly to the router.I have a Sky phone & Broadband package.

When downloading files using chrome I keep getting "unknown network error" before the download is complete. Why is this happening and what can I do about it? I recently bought a netgear n300 wnr2200 router. The first day I set up the network and everything worked fine ( my ISP don't require any passwords etc, standard automatic set up - basically just typing a SSID and a password ( WEP)). The Internet worked perfectly and my iPhone, iPad, ps3 all connects without any problems whatsoever! without any more management than typing password. My laptop, acer aspire 3820tg (windows 7) worked perfectly the initial day. After this it struggles to connect. I will sometimes get the "could not connect to ...." message. Sometimes using the troubleshoot it wil fix the problem by itself. Most times not,
What is weird is that even if I get a connection I will at random intervals get " local access only" or completely dropping the connection. ( then it usually will not connect again) He wifi signal is 100%. I'm not able to make it work in a stable fashion. I have tried updating to the latest network driver for my laptops broadcom wifi adapter (from acer driver site) but this changed nothing. Turning on/off the wifi adapter does not work. Rebooting sometimes works but it's completely random. Sometimes going to network properties and enabling active settings for WLAN will let it connect (sorry if this is not the correct wording, my windows is in Norwegian) (it's the lowest box that you can check, and when this is done you can press "configure" . When pressing it just says cisco something is enabled and showing an "okay box " )
When connecting to the router, it says it has the latest firmware.
Example today: I boot pc, get an error message saying it cannot connect. I try letting windows solve it- doesn't work. I try reboot - doesn't work. I try activate WLAN settings - doesn't work. I reboot the pc - doesn't work. Third reboot (only difference is that pc is placed in a different table in my living room) and I magically get a connection. With active WLAN setting being enabled prior to boot!
I moved my pc 5 meters to another table, wifi signal is 100% but it starts dropping to only local connection !?!? I move back, and it's working again.. Funny thing is that the router is only 7 meters from the table where it's not working ( this could be a coincidence) and i can use the wifi in rooms much further away with devices that shouldn't have better WLAN adaptors(such as iPhone). I have never had any trouble with Internet connections on wifi with this laptop prior to this!
I downloaded both broadcom and athon wireless lan driver and nothing my pc doesnt even show my wireless lan in device manager. but there is a ? in network controler but it will will not conect to internet to download the driver whatever it is.View 1 Replies View Related

I have an Acer Aspire 5315. I recently reformatted the laptop and it now says I have no wireless adapter installed or configured. I just bought a used Acer Aspire One 10.1 netbook and I am having some issues. When I got it the pc needed 17 windows updates done. So I did that but I am not sure all the updates worked properly as the machine shut down but never rebooted after finishing updates. After I turned it back on I tried to connect to the internet through my wireless router (which is working fine for other devices), nothing. So I tried a wired connection, nothing again. The wireless is finding my router it is just not hooking up to the internet. I tried ipconfig/all in the cmd prompt and all it shows is that the media is disconnected??? Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? The compute seems to be functioning fine except for the internet.View 3 Replies View Related

My son just moved back in with us and we can not figure out how to get his Acer Aspire AX1300 desktop to commect to our internet. When we do network search it pulls up our internet no problem. When we hit the connect button it comes up with a box with 2 options 1. add add'l information or 2. connect to another network.when we click the conect and add addl info it comes up with another box wanting us to list username, password and logon domain. We have tried adding our passcode and network id, but it does not work. He also has an Acer laptop, all he did was turn it on and search for the network then put in the key and password and it was connected. I believe both the CPU and the laptop are using windows vista.
