Acer Aspire 5742g - Getting Message Unable To Connect To Wireless?
Jan 12, 2013
I have an acer aspire 5742g laptop . I use wifi at my home , and the wireless network seemed to work fine there.
Then after a few days I came to the hostel . We have wifi in the hostel , so I tried to connect my laptop with the wifi . And there is a message that came , "Unable to connect to stes(name of the wifi network ) , earlier I thought that it was a temporary thing and that it would work the next day, but then the next day , my room mates arrived and their laptops connected easily without the error message .
1)When I click on the wifi icon on the right hand side bottom bar , I can see the network , but it does not connect , and gives me the same error message .
2)When I click on Network and Sharing Center , and then on manage wireless network , I don't see the name(stes) of the wireless network(So I can't even remove it)
3)I have tried uninstalling, installing, updating my network adapter , drivers etc . but none of the things have worked .
I can't seem to figure out what the problem is . Its really bugging me now :| , I formatted my laptop , restored it to factory settings , nothing worked. I also tried to connect through a hotspot which I made from my mobile and it got connected easily without any problem .
I have an Acer Aspire 5570Z that is running Windows Vista with an Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter. The Windows installation is a brand new clean install with all drivers on the computer being the latest and greatest from their respective manufacturers. Now for my problem...I am unable to connect to any wireless network using either the onboard wireless network card or an external USB wireless network adapter. When I scan for wireless networks my cpu will see them. I can then select whichever network I want to try and connect to but when I click the connect button it never takes me to the authentication screen to input the WEP key.
I have tried to manually enter the WEP and configure the network but then when I try to connect to the network it still tells me that Windows is unable to connect to the network. It gives me the option to diagnose connection or connect to another network but when I try diagnosing the connection it scans for a split second then it only gives me an option to go view available wireless networks. It is like my computer has lost the ability to authenticate a network connection.
I'm still having problems with my Acer Aspire 5742G not connecting to my home wireless network. Nothing at all changes, but some days the Acer connects, and others not. When it won't connect, it does see the network, and shows that the signal strength is excellent, but it just will not connect. Other devices (2 BlacKBerry's with different OS's, iPad 2, New iPad, iPhone 3G and iPhone 4S) all connect with no problems in exactly the same location, so it seems that the Netgear DGN2200 router is not the problem.
(Acer doesn't seem interested, judging by the number of similar posts I've seen all over the Internet).
i have a new Acer Aspire 5742Z with standard Windows 7 OEM OS from supplier.I'm trying to connect wireless to my network and i am getting a "limited connectivity" message.
- the network itself - have 10+ machines on the network.
- hardware - I've tried various cards internal and external.the LAN was also having issues until I disabled the QoS on the adaptor, however this does not facilitate the WLAN.I think it must be software issues and was wondering about Acers software as I know Toshiba's "config free" can interfere with WLAN. or there may be more i need to change to the adapter settings.
I have an Acer Aspire X3950 desktop, I am running Win7 and have tried two different wifi adapters and they install but they will not connect. It is almost as if my computer itself is blocking the adapter.I spoke to an On Networks rep for over two hours and he tried everything from reinstalling to rebooting and tried three different drivers. He was from a different country and when I told him what the troubleshooter said he would not deviate from the script they give them 2 hours and he was not even close. It saw the device but it wouldn't even blink.Acers website nor customer service will assist me because my warranty is expired. They want me to send the computer back but I have a feeling it is an easy fix I just don't know enough about computers to say oh just uncheckmark this box.I know in the past I used wifi but switched to an ethernet cable.
My acer aspire 5315 wont't connect to upc wireless internet but it will to all others. is this the make of acer or all acer laptops? Upc claims the fault is not at their end?
Just bought, off a friend, an Acer Aspire 7720G.Before I bought it he wiped everything back to factory settings. When I first started it it was ok, I downloaded google chrome, pokerstars and then all the microsoft updates.Since then I have only managed to connect to the internet once. This was when I left the laptop for around 20 mins and when I went back it had connected to my home network. We have 2 other laptops and an iphone that connects to the internet so I know the router is working.I have disabled the wirless adapter and restarted the laptop but still get nothing. As I type this, on another laptop!, the problem one has been on for 30 mins but still nothing.
Can't connect my NEW Acer Aspire One D257 to my ProLink PWH 2004. Strangely enough my Macbook Air is already connected to my wireless network without a hitch.I see my home's wireless signal on the bottom right but when I click it and try to enter my SECURITY KEY it's still unable to connect.I also get this message: Another computer is trying to connect to your wireless network etc..
We have a Cisco wireless rounter and internet provided thru a time warner cable modem. My son just moved back in with us and we can not figure out how to get his Acer Aspire AX1300 desktop to commect to our internet. When we do network search it pulls up our internet no problem. When we hit the connect button it comes up with a box with 2 options 1. add add'l information or 2. connect to another network.when we click the conect and add addl info it comes up with another box wanting us to list username, password and logon domain. We have tried adding our passcode and network id, but it does not work. He also has an Acer laptop, all he did was turn it on and search for the network then put in the key and password and it was connected. I believe both the CPU and the laptop are using windows vista. How to get his laptop connected to our network and have internet access?
The router is Canyon Cn-WF514, my laptop is Acer aSpire 5755G with wndows7 x64.Password protection and mac filtering are disabled. I'm connecting to the router from my other laptop Acer 5730z without problems and everything is fine on it. I tried changing the wireless driver on my laptop,Here are some pics of router settings.
I bought a new wireless modem. It works perfectly on my PC but I can't connect to wireless with my laptop or my phone. I have the right configuration and the password is correct. The devices show full wireless bars but just can't connect.
I have an Acer Aspire M1100. When trying to download the lates wlan drivers from support.acer.com they can't be installed because they require at mos the XP version of Windows (I have windows 7).
I've just installed a new wireless router (Netgear wgr614v9), but I'm having trouble getting an Acer Aspire 1 (with Linpus Linux) to connect. All other devices within the house can connect (iPod, mobile phone, other laptops), but this laptop wont.It was connected but it disconnected itself and now refuses to connect. Clicking "Connect" on the dialog does nothing. The OS is possibly the worse I've ever used, but there doesn't seem to be much you can upgrade it to.The router is protected with "WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]" according to the router setup, it's name is unique and password 8 chars long.
I purchased a new Acer 5742G-6600 from Newegg about 2 weeks ago. When using my wireless connection, I am randomly dropped, then reconnected to the internet. This effects gaming (constantly disconnected from WOW after maybe 2 or 3 minutes) and streaming video. I can connect directly to the router or modem by cable and the issue never occurs. My girlfriends laptop is able to connect to the wireless connection with no issue. We also had a friend over on his laptop, and he had no issue with the wireless connection.I have uninstalled and reinstalled the wifi card drivers (Atheros AR5B97 Wireless Network Adapter), disabled the power management features, and updated Win 7 64-bit.
I have an Acer Aspire 3810T, recently I reloaded windows 7 to get rid of a virus. It functioned normally for about a day and then it stopped connecting to the internetEvery other wifi enabled device I have connects just fine so its not my modem. It says its connected to the network but there's no internet access. I've tried troubleshooting, but the only suggestion it gives me is to reset my modem, which I know isnt the problem.
I have a Acer Aspire 5738Z (Pentium Dual-Core T4200 Processor 2.0GHz, 3GB RAM) laptop for a long time now I've had problems with my internet connection. Quite often the laptop will connect to the wireless network but then very soon after it will go from being able to access "local and internet" to it just saying it can access just "local" meaning that when this happens I cannot connect to anything. often i disconnect from the wireless network then re connect to it and the internet will come back briefly but I am having to do this procedure over and over again and I know there must be something which I can do about it.
My family recently purchased an Acer Aspire One netbook running Windows 7. Unfortunately, once I got it out of the box and tried to connect to the internet, I had some problems. My family predominantly uses Apple devices - in fact, this netbook is the only PC that we have in the house. All of our Apple devices work wonderfully with our current Wi-Fi connection (iPhone, iPad, MacBooks, etc). The Acer is able to detect our wireless, and it even says that it's "connected" with excellent signal strength. However, it says it is an "Unidentified Network" with "no internet access." To see if this problem limited to just that wi-fi connection, I hooked up my Verizon Wireless Mi-Fi and it worked just fine with the Acer.
I have an Acer Aspire X3950, the computer was on standy-by, but my dad didn't know and pressed the power button, suddenly turning it off. When he turned the computer back on, the internet no longer worked.
I've had my Acer Aspire One D255e For a few months and it connected to the internet just fine. One day I turned it on and now I can't connect to the internet even though the signal connects just fine.
I am using Acer Aspire M5621, It does not have a wireless card. My aunts computer is currently using the modem. So, do I need to buy another Bell Modem, and will I be able to connect via that? Or do I buy one of those wireless cards or external wireless things you put in the USB port.
I am trying to connect, but also have the best speed I can get.
So I have a relatively new (only about 3 weeks old) Acer Aspire laptop...now my internet worked all fine and dandy up until about 36 hours ago. For some stupid reason my laptop will not connect to wireless networks, now at first I just thought "boo the wireless is probably ******" but that is not the case because the internet works perfectly fine with other laptops. I've tired my school's wifi, along with my home's and the library's (I'm using a library computer right now).
It keeps saying that my home network is an "unidentified network" and subsequently I cannot connect to the internet. It's very frustrating because I have restored the system and it still won't work.
My acer for some reason will not connect to my wireless internet. We just got it installed yesterday. It's the Verizion Fios. All the other people in my house have no problem connecting but for some reason, when i try to connect, it says i have limited access, then kicks me off.
i can connect to my wifi but not the internet...I've connected it to the same network using an ethernet cable and it all works fine, the same can be said for when i connect to any other wireless network.. It only seems to be my wireless network which doesnt work... We recently changed our internet in the house from bt to virgin, and this was when the problem started.
I've just bought an Acer Revo R3700 and installed Windows 7 on it, but I just can't make it connect to my router. My Router is from Sky, and successfully has 4 laptops (two running Vista, two running 7), an Xbox a Wii and two smartphones connected to it. Yet I just can't make this system connect to it.I've tried absolutely everything. I've trawled Microsoft answers and found several similar problems, and tried many solutions, including adding files to the registry and updating drivers. At first I could connect to the internet every now and then, but it was biblically slow (I tried to download Google Chrome and it did so at 0.2kbps) and soon disconnected. Now I can't make it connect at all.I just downloaded a the Ethernet Controller Driver and updated a WLAN driver as they apparantly don't come with Windows, but it still wont work. Although the message has now changed from "Unable to Connect" to "Limited Connectivity" (Although I think this is more coincidence than anything)It shouldnt be a signal strength issue, as the Xbox and the laptops work fine when placed beside it.
My partners Aspire 5315 laptop will not connect to our newly installed Virgin wifi. Virgin have tried to access while hard wired and can see no issue with wifi, my laptop runs without issue Samsung Q35.When trying to connect Windows Network Diagnostics the message that comes up is;Cannot communicate with primary DNS Server(194.168.4.100).Network diagnostics pinged the remote host but did not receive a response. We can take her Aspire laptop out and connect to friends WIFI (Virgin, BT etc.) without any issues but cannot do this on our own wifi at home. Every diagnostic thats been run shows no issues with anything. [code] When I hard wire the internet through the ethrnet connection I have no issues but kinda defeats the purpose of WIFI for my partner.
I just recently bought a wireless router (DIR-615) from dlink. After installing it my laptop cannot connect to the wifi network but all other devices(iphones,etc..) can. After speaking with the dlink techs they told me it probably was a problem with my wifi adapter. I downloaded the latest driver with no success. I don't know what to try anymore.
I have an ACER Aspire 5552 laptop. A couple of days ago started having problems connecting to the Internet. Seems to connect to WiFi ok but no Internet connection. I know the router's fine and there is Internet connection because my phone's connected to Internet fine. Even when I use Ethernet cable, it still says there is no Internet connection.
This is a new Acer Aspire 5733Z laptop. A backup was not made. I don't think it was known that there was a restore feature. As such, when the 'auntie' who got the computer began using it, she wound up disabling the entire system with a virus. The entire machine was wiped out. Windows 7 Ultimate was installed, along with Office 2007, Adobe Reader, and the Acer updater (which now indicates 0 updates needed). Auntie does not have wireless internet.
The local area connection reads "Network Cable Unplugged", even though there is an Ethernet cable connected to it and modem in the correct locations. Roadrunner indicates that it's an Acer problem. Acer indicates it's a Windows problem. Both calls cost me 2 hours of my life that I cannot get back. Would I just be better off telling my Auntie to call ISP and have them install a wireless option? I know the wireless works fine, because I am on the machine at home, and there isn't a single issue.
Aside, when I click on the LAC button, I get a box that reads, "This connection uses the following items:", with a list of 'stuff'. If I click on the install button, it asks me the network feature I want installed - client, service, or protocol. I'm not sure which one, and none of them will install anyway, because it's asking for a disc that the laptop box didn't have, since we were supposed to backup the machine to begin with.
I have an old laptop and thought it would be OK for grandson to use until he can use a better one.It runs XP home so I thought I would reinstall win before handing it over, however after the reinstall the laptop cannot see my Virgin modem. The model of laptop is Acer Aspire 1640z it has a button on the front to indicate wireless status but that is showing nothing at all it is just a clear white colour.I did search on here before posting and found a post that had been dealing with a similar problem, I downloaded "win XP -KB91702v3-x86ENU.exe" as was suggested in post but that hasn't worked. This is an old laptop but it was working and connecting to internet fine before I did reinstall.
I downloaded both broadcom and athon wireless lan driver and nothing my pc doesnt even show my wireless lan in device manager. but there is a ? in network controler but it will will not conect to internet to download the driver whatever it is.
