he has the same problem "default gateway is not available" on his Acer laptop with Windows 7, so we were psyched to find this problem posted - and today even (weird?). However, we tried resetting the : netsh winsock reset catalog etc and rebooted but still no internet access.

I've been trying to connect to the internet all day. Every time it connects, but only with limited connectivity. I run troubleshooting, but it doesn't fix the problem. Sometimes it won't have anything to report back other times it says that the default gateway is unavailable. My laptop is the only device in our home that won't connect, so I don't think it's the router.I think the router is a cisco router, there is a cisco box mounted on the ceiling with a cord leading into it (I don't have access to any buttons though)I live in an apartment building with free internet, so I'm not sure who the provider is.

I have been able to connect successfully to multiple wireless networks and access the internet until I tried to connect to the new network.Initially everything is OK - I can connect to the network and access the internet. However after a short period of time (anywhere from a few seconds to 20 minutes) the network connection will change to limited, without internet access. If I simply disconnect and reconnect to the network the internet will immediately be working again (at least for a few seconds/minutes)alternatively, if I run the troubleshooter, I always get the message that the default gateway is not available, which has been fixed by resetting the wi-fi adapter.

The wireless keeps going out, just on mine and my cousin (hers is a compaq along with the other cousin but the other cousin, doesn't have an issue... just me and this little cousin and I don't know why.Its been now happening for a few days. We have a Windows XP machine on our network that is giving us a strange problem. We have it statically configured with an IP and a default gateway address which points to a router on our network. This is the same router that nearly all of our machines point to and none of the other machines have this issue.If we open up CMD and make a ping request from an outside server (public or interal servers on other subnets) we get a 'destination host unreachable' error. We can ping the ip address of the router that is assigned as the default gateway. We can circumvent this ip address by adding a static route ('route add' from CMD) directing all traffic on the network interface to the ip of the router. Once this is done we can ping and get a response from any server both internal and external. We also tried doing a tracert (without have the static route added) to an external site by IP address. The tracert does not even show a hop for the router so it seems as if the request is never making it past the interface on the XP machine. We simply get an error saying it is unable to find the host. Interesting though it does provide us with a domain name for the ip address. So somehow it is able to reslove DNS. (We have a local DNS server on the same subnet)

After installing several drivers and probably 10-20 tweaks, the issue has stopped for about 50 minutes after consistent at least every 10-20 minutes.I actually just placed an order for a Motorola Surfboard 6121 Although I need the upgrade anyway.
I installed Windows 7 a few weeks back with no hitches but over the last week I have been getting regularly kicked off line with above message that the default gateway was not available! Fortunately the Windows troubleshooter fixes it every time but intrigued why it keeps happening.I have reset the adaptor and the router but still no luck!

I constantly drop internet connection, mainly when downloading and playing games. In the right bottom corner, where my wireless connection signal strenght is showed, I get an yellow triangle with '!' mark in it saying 'Limited access'. When troubleshooting, the only way to get an internet connection again, I get an message 'The default gateway is not available' and it says that it's fixed. after awhile I lose internet connection again and everything repeats. I figured out that it's not from my router or Internet Service Provider. I saw in the forums the option to exchange this card for the 6230 upgraded version but that is not a variant for me because in my country the technicians can at very damage the laptop.

Users are able to connect without a problem. Windows 7 (32bit) clients with this same VPN client get this address but get a default gateway 10.10.50.2 and are unable to connect for obvious reasons.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using my ACER tablet with my Netgear router for several months with no problems at all. Then last night I decided to restore my tablet to its default settings, meaning that all my programs, apps, files, etc., were erased. Then I rebooted my tablet and started from scratch, entering the requested information. Everything appeared to be going just fine until I turned on Wi-Fi and attempted to connect to my network (Secured with WPA2), which was available and showed Good signal strength. I clicked on it, then attempted to enter my password. As soon as I entered the first digit of my password, the option to Connect to the Internet immediately disappeared, becoming greyed-out. Repeated attempts to connect failed for the same reason.
I called ACER Level 2 Support and tried a couple of procedures which didn't solve the problem. One was pushing the Reset Button twice. The technician told me that I may have a problem with my router settings. He suggested that I go to a local fast food outlet and see if I could connect there. I went to McDonald's and was able to get on the Net without using a password. I returned home and tried again to connect, but still was unable to enter my password.
Would it make sense for me to completely disconnect my router from everything, then reconnect and go through that set-up process all over again? I guess I would have to change my User Name & Password, or whatever is required. Also, if I go this route, should I change my security setting from WPA2 to a different option -- WEP, for example? I just don't want to foul things up to the point where my laptop wouldn't work. I doubt that would happen. I recently received the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade which has been working satisfactorily; however, it does mean that I'm now attempting to start over from scratch with a different operating system.
When I ran a reset to factory settings of my acer aspire one netbooks which runs windows 7 I no longer have a wireless connection option at all. I have done this before and never lost my ability to connect wirelessly. I tried to look for driver downloads but I'm not even sure what it is I need to do to recover the missing program as it was a original factory program.

I'll disconnect, run troubleshooter, and I'll get the error message saying that the default gateway is not available. My college is designed for Macs, but I'm running Windows 7. My Mac colleagues do not experience problems. The computer works at home and at nearly every other wireless network I've brought it in range of. Specifically, either IBM or Dell.

I recently got a new laptop and ever since, the internet goes in and out. Most of the time it is not out long enough to display the no connectivity icon or stop music from streaming but it is noticeable. When I run the troubleshooter it says that the default gateway is unavailable. I tried manually setting the connection information but the same thing keeps happening except the troubleshooter then says that DHCP is not enabled. Can I be able to use the ASA, not only as a security appliance / firewall, but also be able to write the access lists, etc, to be able to use this as my router to push packets to and from my internal LAN to the outside world? View 2 Replies View RelatedI rdp into our server 2008 via IP. This is a router on ip 0.1, this is forwarded to my server on IP 0.3. This server was setup with DHCP default gateway of 0.1. We added a new outside connection on IP 0.2. I was talked through the changes so that internal DHCP requests went to gateway IP 0.2 but RDP still used 0.1. I plan on getting rid of 0.1.Where is the setting to change the RDP to use default gateway of 0.2?
