I wanted to setup some type of free software to do monitoring from my laptop on my home network. I'm using a Linksys WRT54GL with DD-WRT that provides decent monitoring but I wanted to start becoming more familiar with the mainstream products.
I have two core switches - 4506E, and i noticed there are frequent cpu spikes on both of the cores switches. As its spikes intermitendly i couldnt able to anlyze the issue. I need inputs on the following,
1) Is there any Free CPU process monitoring tools to identify which process is spiking ?
2) Troubleshooting techniques to identify the issue.
I'm in the market for a wireless router/AP. It must have gigabit LAN and would like it to have 300mbps wireless rates. I've been looking at the Linksys E3000 but I'm a little hesitant because of some of the reviews about this thing getting hot. Heck, even reading thru threads on here, it seems like there's mixed reviews on most everything!
I have been looking for a new router as my current one has packed in. I am mostly interested in a router with a fast and stable wifi and high throughput which can manage a high amount of maximum simultaneous connections. The linksys e4200 seems perfect and very well reviewed.I am currently on adsl, no cable in area, so i would need one to have an adsl modem. Is there a version with a modem? Or will i need to look around for another?
I am mainly interested in throuput and the reviews and comparison sites sugest that linksys seems perfect midway between max simultaneous connections and price. Any comparison website that has adsl routers. The information am looking for on that's between £60 and £160 with high amount of ram, high throuput for Maximum Simultaneous Connections, similar to link text
I am using a Linksys E4200V2 for my routing needs. I have 6 hardwired connections and 9 wireless connections. Due to my hardwired connections all going into one corner of my basement my router is placed there. When I had an E3000 my wireless coverage was fairly acceptable. After a power surge took out a bunch of stuff (which I have remedied with a whole home surge protector and better surge protectors for my devices) my E4200 replacement just doesn't have as good of coverage, especially in our office. This renders wireless to our phones/tablet useless in there (wife's laptop and my desktop are hard wired when in the office). I have a fairly large home so no wireless router is going to give me great coverage in my office, which is furthest from my router and has a bunch of obstructions to go through.I want to do an access point. I tried with an old Belkin Wireless G router, but it is only working when it wants to and there is probably a reason I stuff it in a box years ago. Of course I gave my other working Netgear N-router to my mom...so I'm out of wireless routers.
I want to buy something that:
- Is under $50
- Can do dual-band wireless N
- If it has Gigabit Ethernet ports that would be sweet as I could make use of them, but I can live without
- Can either repeat the wireless signal from my Linksys or be hard-wired as I have Ethernet connections all over my home. I'd suspect there would be a performance benefit from a hard wired unit.
Usage - from a hardwired perspective, I do some heavy LAN file transfers and high-bandwidth streaming on a semi-regular basis. For wireless, some random downloading (nothing time urgent), surfing and video streaming off the web is about it, and Airplay from our iOS devices (iOS stuff is only Apple stuff we have, rest is Win 7/8 and Android) with Apple TV being hardwired.
How many AP in h-reap mode recommend with WAN link 512k ?,i have read in document it show h-reap mode must requirement minimum link is 128k for connect to wlc but i don't know this requirement for 1 ap or all ap to connect across WAN to register and send traffic across WAN. Because now i have 2 site HQ -> Branch (link 512k) it can use for this solution.
I found a ton of them on the internet but I'm not sure which ones are safe.I'm trying to use my home NAS as an ftp server that can be accessed remotely.
I would like to make my audio MP3 stories and audio books available to the visually impaired and others who can no read for any number of reasons. I have already written and recorded the material in MP3 format.I find that virtually everywhere I look I must pay, or the upload limit is so small that a story of any size can not be uploaded. I have an Ipage web site and two blogger blogs where I could post the link for listeners to download the text. I do need to do it all for free, since I am on S.Security.
Stated differently; I want to offer my audio books and audio essays for free from my blogs or website. I can not seem to find who will store my recordings (large enough to actually be a book) for free. The site should be easy to navigate so impaired patrons can use it easily. I did find one, yourlisten.com, but the user has to agree to buy something from their advertisers before they can download my audio text. For the user, then, the service is not free.Does any one know who will store and share my audio text for free?
I am on the lookout for free dynamic DNS for top level domain name. There seem to be quite a few free dynamic DNS providers for third level domain but I am having trouble finding one for top level domain. I am almost on the verge of actually mapping the top level domain to a CNAME of a third level domain with dynamic DNS but I really don't want to do that.
I'm trying to connect to a VPN using the free OpenVPN software. This has been working for a while, but recently I keep getting the following error. My OpenVPN config file is also copied in below. I've tried searching for a fix but haven't managed to find anything.
I have a virtual FreeNAS server running from VMPlayer and I want to allow my friends to connect to my media server from their houses, but I don't want to buy a domain. Is there a way to port them to it when they connect to my Public IP? I am willing to use another program if necessary. I have looked at Filezilla, but have the same issue.
what it looks like after it was cleaned up and my switches added in:That is a 3750, 48 port switch that it came with. I added in my 3750's and a 3550. The PC is for GNS3 and will have additional ports added for router interfaces soon.
I have a terminal server in the mail to round it out.
I got a wireless HP all-in-one PC and was able to connect to the Internet via the free Dlink wi-fi access point. Dlink no longer appears in the list of available networks. The network adapters are fine. I'm running Windows 7.
Recently returned from a holiday where thee were various free wifi hotspots. Some needed a password which the cafe just gave you if you asked, others were open. My laptop connected without any problems at all these places except one. Other people at the same cafe did not have any problems but mine would not connect - kept receiving messages about certificates. The cafe owner even tried and could not connect to my laptop. My laptop found the signal okay..
