View 7 RepliesI own a Dell XPS M1330 laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit, service pack 1) that is about three and a half years old. I realize this Dell model has been discontinued. Work with me here. I STRONGLY believe after 6+ hours of personal troubleshooting that the laptop model is NOT the problem. I have lived at the same apartment complex the entire time I have owned this laptop. Up until a month ago when a new management company (the third one I’ve had) took over, I was able to use the free WiFi they offer at the office and the laundry room without one single speck of a problem weekly for YEARS. Suddenly I am getting: Unidentified Network: No Internet Connection with a public park bench (which it is a public network, I suppose) and a “!” over my perfect five bar signal. Therefore, we can rule out signal strength as the problem. I have a Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN Mino-Card, the card that came pre-installed with the laptop when I bought it brand new. Also, I know the Dell Wireless Card WLAN Utility is installed on this computer but I’ve always used Windows Network and Sharing Center to control the WiFi network I am connected to. I saw something somewhere about this maybe being the problem but since I’ve never used it I don’t think it has anything to do with my problem…
Talk about the router will be brief as it is my apartment complex they will not allow me access to the router so I know virtually nothing other than it is a Cisco wireless router, there are three office computers connected to it that run the internet just fine, and DCHP is enabled on both my laptop and the router (I may or may not have snuck in against their wishes to figure this one out…).
Also noteworthy are two things. One: I can connect to about a dozen other public WiFi networks around the city malls, coffee shops, bookstores, the college campuses, ECT. So connecting to WiFi is not the problem, this WiFi network specifically is (AKA. My NIC is NOT dead). I can also connect to my boyfriend’s private network at his house. The second thing worth noting is that once, I got the manager to cave and re-set the router for me. It connected! I re-started my computer and it still connected! I took my laptop back to my apartment, brought it back re-booted an hour late and it still connected! The next morning; back to the same old annoying problem. I asked him if they did ANYTHING with the computers at night and he said no.
As I stated, I have 6+ hours of troubleshooting pre-done on this problem. I have tried what I am able to with no access to the router (okay, maybe I snuck in and did a couple more things…) including:
Re-start laptop.
Re-start router.
Disable all firewalls/virus protection programs/ect.
Connect to the internet in Safe Mode.
Disable Bonjour.
Uninstall wireless card/re-install wireless card/un-install drivers/re-install drivers/update drivers.
Reset the TCP/IP stack.

Tech Support Forum, I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I couldn't find a software section, so here it goes.
Right now I'm using Teamviewer to remote connect to my desktop when needed, but it seems like quite a bad product. As in, response time is slow between computers, colors get messed up, ect. So my question is: Is there a better software for remote connections between computers, that is free.
How to connect to free wi-fi with mobile phone
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been in a home office for the past 2 years with 30mb internet, but I will be getting an office soon downtown. The building I'm moving into has free wifi, what is my best option to connect to this with my desktop?
1. Using an ethernet cable from my desktop to my ASUS rt-56n router as a bridge to connect to the buildings wifi.
2. Buying a wireless adapter to connect to the buildings wifi.
My phone only gets 2 bars when connecting so I'd like to know which of the options above will give me a faster and more reliable connection.
I have just moved into a new office and I have free internet, but I would like to set-up my network multi function printer in the same office.I don't have a router in my office I just have the socket (presumably from the building owners cabinet). Adding another network card.I tried removing the internet cable from my PC and setting up the printer by creating a TCP port but it didn't work. (I used to do this with my HP 1050tn).RouterI tried adding a router but that didn't work either.

I have a Samsung RV510 laptop computer running Windows 7 that is about 6 months old. It has worked well until the last couple of days. Despite the fact that it shows an active wireless internet connection, I cannot get web pages to open. I have tried both IE and Firefox with no luck. I have tried many different websites including microsoft, msn, google and yahoo and none have connected. Other devices connected to the same wireless network include a laptop running XP, a MacBook pro, an iPhone, an iPad, and several android smart phones and all have been functioning without issue. An XP desktop is also connected to the router with an ethernet cable with no issues. This laptop is the only device running Windows 7.
When I run the windows network diagnostics tool I get the message "Problem found The remote device or resource won't accept the connection". I have tried most of the recommended actions associated with the linkI have successfully pinged www.google.com and www.yahoo.com. I have also tried several other things that i found while doing research on this problem with no success.[CODE]

View 1 Replies View RelatedA few weeks ago I tried to install vmware to my toshiba laptop to play around with is and eventually install Windows server 2008 virtually. Well I didnt complete the installation and set up because I forgot to write down the registration key #. Ever since then I have had a terrible time getting my network reconfigured and have tried everything with Verizon network support over the phone. I am now unable to get a valid Ip address or default gateway with either my Wireless or my LAN connections. I have done all types of troubleshooting, resetting netgear router, modem, ip config /reset /renew,netsh winsock reset catalog commands and etc . . . STILL NOTHING WORKS ! I have another machine that is a mac book on my home wirless network that connects just fine, the only problem is my machine. And I have also taken this machine to my job and try connect to the wireless public network and all I get is "limited access" I ran the network test that Kadar provided and this is what I get:

I bought this router a couple of months ago and it was working fine until this morning. I tried to use the internet and there was no connection at all (wired or wireless). I tried power cycling but that didn't work. I finally decided to call my DSL provider and we changed the setup from the router connecting to PPPOE to the modem connecting to PPPOE. Now, my two computers (wired) can access the internet but all my wireless devices (Android and BB) connect to the SSID (unique) but can't actually access the net.I called DLink but they decided to stop assisting me once I told them that my computers could connect but not the wireless devices. They said I need to call the manufacturers of my wireless devices - I really doubt that all 4 of my wireless devices are faulty.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using my home desktop to make this post. This is issue is with my Dell laptop that--up till an hour ago--had a wireless area connection icon in the lower right corner and a Wireless Area Network option when I went to "Network Connections" (I still have my LAN option.) I was using a Driver Whiz program to update all my drivers when it said I needed some Intel Wireless Config program. So I downloaded it but at the end I had no Internet access and no icon, etc. So I uninstalled that program but it was too late. I've even tried a system restore to a few hours prior to this mistake of mine to no avail. My husband says I need to connect hardwire to the Internet and download a WAN driver...is that correct?
View -1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new E3000 router less than 2 weeks ago. I spent hours with my tech guy setting up the router so that I was getting excellent internet speed and the connection between my computer and my nas was maximized. In the process of setting up the router my laptop (Windows 7) and the basement laptop (Vista) were set up to access the router. Both work perfectly. These are now the only two devices in the house that can get internet access. The other devices that should connect are:
-2 Laptops (both Vista)
-1 iPhone 4
-2 iPhone 3gs
-1 Printer
I can't get them to connect. I spent an hour with a guy at Cisco tonight who just couldn't seem to get past the idea that it was not the laptop that was the problem.
I just set up a new router/modem from Centurylink (C1000A) and am having a problem connecting wirelessly to the internet on my laptop. I have a Dell 1390 Mini-card. The laptop shows that I have excellent wireless connectivity. Is there a setting that I need to change to get my internet to stay connected?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have had a problem with my WRT400N wireless Linksys router. Whenever my router restarts or if the DHCP lease expires, I'm unable to connect to internet. During this time I can access the router, but not the internet. Oddly something that seems to "fix" this is if I use my nintendo wii to access my wireless internet at that time, all computers on my network are able to access the internet. However this is annoying to do since this happens once a day from DHCP lease expiring. Using any other computer to attempt to access the internet at this time would be unable to get a connection until I do the "fix" with the Wii. WRT400N

View 2 Replies View RelatedReciently I bought a WRT120N Router to get a better internet connection and to have more capacity to connect different wireless devices, because the modem from my internet provider company is extremely restrictive.
I use an iMac, a Notebook with Windows 7 and a Netbook with Ubuntu 11.04, besides different devices (iPhone, iPod, PS3, Kindle). Although when I configured the router I connected every devices simultaneasly, with better signal quality than before, after using it for a couple of days I found that it disconnects itself, I can't access internet, and my only solution it's to switch it off and on.
