My questions is: If I want to setup Active-Passive redundancy, do I need to manually setup the 2nd one exactly as the 1st one and put them in the same group? Dec 12, 2011New to working with Wireless and the Cisco Meshing concept so have a few questions to ask.I currently have the majority of the mesh setup and configured. I have a setup with two RAPs with 9 MAPS connecting to each RAP.
First question is how many MAPS can connect to a RAP generally?Secondly how can I block other cisco AP's that are not in my mesh network from trying to connect to my AP's
The below is constantly hammering the logs for 6 devices that are Cisco close to my mesh that are not mine.

Mesh child node '58:35:d9:aa:db:4f' has changed its parent to mesh node '88:f0:77:b7:c6:e0' from mesh node '88:f0:77:b7:c6:c0'.
Mesh Node '58:35:d9:aa:db:4f' failed to join controller, MAC address not in MAC filter list.
I have only added the MAC addresses of my AP's in to my AP Policy under security. Would these other AP's affect the mesh in any way?What I am seeing is the AP's constantly changing the child to parent relationship. I have inherited this network and they have about 20 AP's all within a square mile which is absolutely overkill. Would this close proximity of AP's together be the cause for the constant child parent changes?
How close should I have RAP's together. The network was setup so two raps are about 20 metres apart and the AP's on one side connect to RAP1 and the other to RAP2?How do you deal with Radar? The install is pretty much next to an airfield with radar running and a few times I have seen all the AP's disconnect and change channels.

Feb 24, 2013My understanding is that for fully WLC 5508 integration with ISE 1.1.2, it needs Version 7.2.103.0. Question is if customer has 5508 with either 7.0.230 or 7.0.98, and ISE 1.1.2, can AAA part work? what part will not work, any potential issue if they don't upgrade 5508 to 7.2.103?

Seems that the AP doesn't work with WLC ver 7.4
Except changing these APs to autonomous mode, any other alternatives?
Besides, if we change them to autonomous mode, can Prime Infrastructure manage/monitor these APs?

client machine stops DNS resolution after some time once we enable global multicast mode on WLC .websites are opening with IPs but not with DNS names .

I am mostly interested in a router with a fast and stable wifi and high throughput which can manage a high amount of maximum simultaneous connections. The linksys e4200 seems perfect and very well reviewed.I am currently on adsl, no cable in area, so i would need one to have an adsl modem. Is there a version with a modem? Or will i need to look around for another?
I am mainly interested in throuput and the reviews and comparison sites sugest that linksys seems perfect midway between max simultaneous connections and price. Any comparison website that has adsl routers. Linksys E4200V2 - Recommend Router To Be Used As Access Point
Dec 11, 2012I am using a Linksys E4200V2 for my routing needs. I have 6 hardwired connections and 9 wireless connections. Due to my hardwired connections all going into one corner of my basement my router is placed there. When I had an E3000 my wireless coverage was fairly acceptable. After a power surge took out a bunch of stuff (which I have remedied with a whole home surge protector and better surge protectors for my devices) my E4200 replacement just doesn't have as good of coverage, especially in our office. This renders wireless to our phones/tablet useless in there (wife's laptop and my desktop are hard wired when in the office). I have a fairly large home so no wireless router is going to give me great coverage in my office, which is furthest from my router and has a bunch of obstructions to go through.I want to do an access point. I tried with an old Belkin Wireless G router, but it is only working when it wants to and there is probably a reason I stuff it in a box years ago. Of course I gave my other working Netgear N-router to my mom...so I'm out of wireless routers.
I want to buy something that:
- Is under $50
- Can do dual-band wireless N
- If it has Gigabit Ethernet ports that would be sweet as I could make use of them, but I can live without
- Can either repeat the wireless signal from my Linksys or be hard-wired as I have Ethernet connections all over my home. I'd suspect there would be a performance benefit from a hard wired unit.
Usage - from a hardwired perspective, I do some heavy LAN file transfers and high-bandwidth streaming on a semi-regular basis. For wireless, some random downloading (nothing time urgent), surfing and video streaming off the web is about it, and Airplay from our iOS devices (iOS stuff is only Apple stuff we have, rest is Win 7/8 and Android) with Apple TV being hardwired.

My question is can we upgrade the WiSMs and do the WCS at a later date with no issues or do we need to do them at the same time to keep visibility of everything?
The reason I ask is that some of my clients use lobby ambassador for some of their users and they will need wireless access on the day we are due to upgrade WCS (the WiSMs are due to be upgraded and rebooted earlier that morning.
