I have 2x WLC 5508 running version 7.2. 1st one is setup and running. My questions is: If I want to setup Active-Passive redundancy, do I need to manually setup the 2nd one exactly as the 1st one and put them in the same group? Or is it a way to copy all of the configs I made on the 1st one over to the 2nd one?

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy questions is in relation to disaster recovery, for wireless. We have our main data center, in the US, with two 5508 controllers. We have a DR location, in Europe, with two 5508 controller. We're upgrading our 5508's to the 7.4 code, so that we can take advantage of the RP port for our controllers. With that said, is there a way to make the US and Europe controllers redundant?
If there's a disaster, in the US, would the AP licensing, and AP's attach to the European controllers? Our AP's are set up with HA. I'm more concerned about the licensing flipping over to the DR controllers. I've tried researching this topic, and can't really find anything on it.
Our organization has multiple controllers at regional sites (one per region) & want to implement redundancy by placing one controller at headquarter's datacentre as a backup in case the site's failed.All our controllers are 5508 with 7.0.116.0 loaded I did a search around and found multiple documentations of how to do it but all related to creating a mobility group?Is it possbile to implement this scenario without creating mobility group ? View 1 Replies View RelatedOne of our customer , where there 2 6509 switch , one is Core_sw1 and other is Core_sw2 , catering about 32 Vlan , and HSRP in running for all Vlans , till here no problem , now there internet Router which having one Internet link , which connected and configured on Core_sw1 in a way that one interface of Core_sw1 is given Public IP and there is vlan 85 which internet vlan and vlan 85 ip are natted with that public IP with one simple static route given toward internet router , this is how internet is working ok.
Now i have configured vlan 85 in hsrp as all other are , how can give redundancy to vlan 85 user , that if Core_sw1 get down , internet traffic can get out through Core_sw2.using same internet router with single internet link .i am not talking of ISP redundancy , but Vlan 85 in Core_sw1 goes down , other Core_sw2 will server internet.

We have 5508's already so I am familiar with setting them up and so forth. What I am not familiar with is setting them up using HA for failover and license sharing. I've looked and looked and can't find documentation online showing how to set this up. I have found some but nothing that is complete. I have spent 2 days spinning my wheels.

View 7 Replies View RelatedNew to working with Wireless and the Cisco Meshing concept so have a few questions to ask.I currently have the majority of the mesh setup and configured. I have a setup with two RAPs with 9 MAPS connecting to each RAP.
First question is how many MAPS can connect to a RAP generally?Secondly how can I block other cisco AP's that are not in my mesh network from trying to connect to my AP's
The below is constantly hammering the logs for 6 devices that are Cisco close to my mesh that are not mine.

Mesh Node '58:35:d9:aa:db:4f' failed to join controller, MAC address not in MAC filter list.
I have only added the MAC addresses of my AP's in to my AP Policy under security. Would these other AP's affect the mesh in any way?What I am seeing is the AP's constantly changing the child to parent relationship. I have inherited this network and they have about 20 AP's all within a square mile which is absolutely overkill. Would this close proximity of AP's together be the cause for the constant child parent changes?
How close should I have RAP's together. The network was setup so two raps are about 20 metres apart and the AP's on one side connect to RAP1 and the other to RAP2?How do you deal with Radar? The install is pretty much next to an airfield with radar running and a few times I have seen all the AP's disconnect and change channels.
My understanding is that for fully WLC 5508 integration with ISE 1.1.2, it needs Version 7.2.103.0. Question is if customer has 5508 with either 7.0.230 or 7.0.98, and ISE 1.1.2, can AAA part work? what part will not work, any potential issue if they don't upgrade 5508 to 7.2.103?

I know that the recommendation from Cisco for the mobility anchor feature to work well is to use the same IOS version on the anchor WLC and local WLC controller. Now I´ll install on a new site a 5508 local WLC with a newer IOS version which is installed on the other controllers ( Guest and local ). Later I´ve planned to update also the other controllers to the same IOS version. Now my question is, must I upgrade all other controller at the same time ?

I've downloaded Prime Infrastructure 1.2 eval and wanted to see what it looked from WCS that I am currently using to manage the wireless network and I added the WLC (4404) device but it list the device as "Managed with Warning" and I can't find what the warning is.

This one in particular became of interest to me because I couldn't set up SSH on it or enable any QoS features on it, so I did some research. What I found was there are basically 2 versions of the IOS, c2950-i6q4l2 or c2950-i6k2l2q4. I also read that the c2950-i6q4l2 IOS versions (like the one in the switch I am referring to) have both the SI and EI feature sets integrated, but the one that gets enabled is entirely dependent upon the switch model you are running it on. Did I understand this correctly? Does the IOS check the hardware on the switch and then decide with feature set to use? If so, what is prohibiting the EI feature set from being enabled on this switch? Is there a way to force the EI feature set to be enabled since it is integrated in this image?

I am wondering if it's possible to convert a Pix 501 configuration running version 6.3(5) to a new ASA5505 which we just purchased? We have site to site VPN on this device and i am just trying to save some time. I believe Cisco TAC might have a tool to do this but i am not sure.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a DIR-655 Version B running the stock 2.0 firmware and a Motorola SB6120 cable modem and my ISP is comcast. I have had comcast come out and test my line and everything is fine. I have a desktop directly wired to the internet and several portable devices accessing the router.I cannot connect to the internet. My network is available and none of my devices ever indicate the network isn't available. When I try to load a website it just says "waiting for reply..." and nothing happens. The solution that always works is rebooting both the modem and the router. What is odd is that this problem comes and goes, I will go a week with zero issues, then I go all week with rebooting my stuff 5-8 times a day..What have I tried? I tried the settings that are recommended by Furrynuts to users complaining. I have also tried changing the wireless band settings to different channels as well.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an ASA 5510 running ASDM 6.4(9) and Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance Software Version 8.4(4)1.I am trying to configure for the first time and I am accessing the ASA via its Management Interface.I am successfully able to connect to the device and get to the Cisco ASDM 6.4(9) page.When I try to run the startup wizard, a couple of prompts displays up to the point where the java applet runs and aks me to enter my IP, username and password.As it is a new system, password and username is blank so I enter and I get a message saying "loading software from cache" which later changes to "software Update completed" and then nothing happens.I am running MacOSX 10.7 Lion, Java version 1.6.0_33.I did try and run this on a Windows system and i was able to load the interface.

They have at the moment one old 4404 with about 70 APs.So the bought the new 5508 with HA Pair.For the HA i will need 7.3 i read in the High Availability (AP SSO) Deployment Guide.There are now two 7.3 Versions, or i can choose the new 7.4 Version.
