We have implemented WLAN using Cisco WLAN controller (5508) and AP (AIR-CAP3502E-E-K9), i am trying to connect AP (which have gigabit port) with Layer 3 switch using UTP Cat-6 Cable having 24 AWG Wire Gauge.
What maximum length i can achieve by using above mentioned cable?
I want to connect internet via telephone cable by using rj11 jack from my ethernet switch to another computer it is 150mts away from my office premises.
I have seen 5-port network switches (for home network use)for sale that list CAT5 and CAT5e as the cabling. My question is, can CAT6 cable be used with these switches without performance issues?
Is there a difference in an ethernet cable and an Ethernet networking cable? I have an Ethernet cable and a 6 port splitter I am trying to connect. I have 4 ports in the router that are in use. When I connect them to the splitter nothing s working.
I have 2x WLC 5508 running version 7.2. 1st one is setup and running. My questions is: If I want to setup Active-Passive redundancy, do I need to manually setup the 2nd one exactly as the 1st one and put them in the same group? Or is it a way to copy all of the configs I made on the 1st one over to the 2nd one?
using a Cisco 5508 controller (code version 7.4.100.0) with an ACS appliance running version 4.1 or 4.2?I've found that the ACS constantly reports a 'Bad request from NAS' (Invalid message authenticator in EAP request). message. This usually indicates a mismatched shared secret but this isn't the case. The controller works fine opposite a Microsoft NPS Radius Server.
I am having a problem with my Realtek RTL8168D/8111D PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC. It is not detecting my ethernet cable, and thus leaving me without internet on my desktop, after i updated its driver. The cable is not the problem as I have tested the cable with my laptop. I tried rolling back drivers, doing system restore and removing drivers with driversweeper and letting windows install the drivers again. However, none of these worked for me. I doubt the NIC is faulty as it was working before i updated the drivers. I am using windows 7 home premium 64-bit.
We are deploying two 5508 WLC running 7.2 ios. Is it possible to anchor these to a 4402 running 7.0.116.0. Is there any version mismatch issues. We can find documents on the older compatibility but not on the new code.
I have a WAG160N wireless gateway . Yesterday when i tried to power it on after a couple of seconds the power led was solid green and the Ethernet leds were blinking with no Ethernet cable attached to the router . The ethernet leds would keep blinking for minutes . I tried to use a screwdriver to do a hardware reset ( with power on ) and i noticed that the power led would start blinking green/red for minutes . I tried to use another wired router which i have for backup and it could connect to the internet normally without a problem.
What the green / red blinking power led means ( power led is green and then changes to red and then it starts over ) ?
I have a Dell XPS M1530 with Vista 32 bit. When i plug in a cable i get nothing, no error, and the comp does not recognize that a cable has been plugged in. I think that this started after my Hard drive failed and Dell replaced it but i'm not positive. No errors (? or !) in Device Manager and I can't find the Marvell 88E80XX 10/100 Ethernet Controller in device manager. I have attempted to Reinstall the drivers. The wireless is still working. I have one Light to the right of the port that is on all the time solid but no flashing with the cable in or out.
modem only lets one computer connect to wireless. The other computers that try it says unable to connect to the network, without even giving limited access. Wired connections work fine though?
I need to a run an Ethernet network between 2 buildings 1000ft apart. The buildings are in a forest so I don't think wireless is possible. What kind of cable can I run between the two buildings and what type of adapters do I need on each side?
My pc is windows xp an has service pack 3, the adaptor is realtek RTL8168/8111 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC. I have 3 gig of memory and a very larg nvidia card. OK my pc has worked absolutely fine until this weekend when my sister came and her son was on my pc when everyone was in bed. He attempted to print of not less than 88!! pictures he had acquired from different sites but i had disconnected the printer so it didnt take place. When they left earlier today i switched on my pc and there was a virus alert so i ran a scan. These got put into the chest. I then attemtpted to close down the programmes that had come back up when i switched on and this is when it happened. The pc told me it was going to shut down and when it restarted i had not internet connection. I checked the modem and the ethernet light is out.
I tried to do a favor for a friend. He has this terrible Dimension 4700c running XP.I went to the dell site and found the Intel driver and also foudn the chipset. The Ethernet Controller still has yellow question mark. I stried to pint the ? to the Unzipped file under C://dell/drivers etc...!
I installed Windows XP Professional SP3 x64. Naturally, the Device Manager informs me of missing drivers with the yellow question mark. I am looking for the driver called "Ethernet Controller".
I have looked under Drivers & Downloads for Dell Precision Workstation T5400 with my service tag <ADMIN NOTE:Service tag removed per privacy policy>. I have installed over 45 drivers but I still can't find the ethernet controller I'm looking for. I'm frustrated because I cannot connect to the internet or use ipconfig without this.
I have a Netgear wireless router and just set up my wireless network. The only problem is that when I remove the ethernet cable, I lose connection to the internet. My operating system is Vista. In the network connection icon, it shows that I am connected to an unidentified network. Also, on the globe icon it shows that I am connected to the network by local access only. Furthermore, I seem to be missing tabs under the wireless network connection properties section, such as advanced and sharing. I seem to be sending packets but not receiving any.I tried all the basics at this point, including rebooting and powering the modem and router down.
I am going to use my ethernet cable to connect my pc to my xbox to use the PC as a bridge for the connection. My one question is, when I go to the adapter settings and go to the sharing tab on the properties of my wireless, what does the check box named 'Allow other users to connect through this computer's internet connection' do?
I have just replaced a wbr-1310 with a dir-601. I can connect with an Ethernet cable, but not wireless. I have comcast cable with a Motorola surfboard modem. I was able to connect with the wbr-1310 with this setup.
I have a 5508 controller with multiple SSID’s that are non-broadcasting. My goal is to get a 1142N to work in non-root bridge mode by accessing one of the existing WPA2 SSID’s.
I have a IDF that has a 3750 switch with multiple devices connected to it in 3-4 different vlans. B/C of fiber length restraints, I can’t uplink in a traditional way. So, my thought is I can connect a 1142N in non-root bridge mode and connect it to an existing WPA2 w/AES that’s being broadcasted by our 5508WLC. Connect the 1142 to 3750 and let it act as the trunk port for the devices on the switch.
i can't connect to the wireless internet but can connect to internet through the ethernet cable. i am connected to network on wireless but no webpages work. other devices like iphone, and other laptos can connect to internet on wireless. i have tried turning the router on n off to restart it, and even resetting it back to factury settings but still doesn't connect wirelessly to my laptop.
have a netgear N150 Wireless Modem Router DGN1000 running microsoft windows 7 hp pavilion dm4 laptop
I have a D-link WBR-2310 wireless router connected to a ZyXEL P-600 series modem. Everything worked fine untill a couple days ago when I had a power surge; since then the wireless router won't show on the modem that the ethernet cable is plugged in, and I get no wireless or DSL internet. I called the internet service provider, and they told me to reset both the modem and the router, which I did and it worked fine for about an hour; then it didn't recognize the cable again. I thought maybe it was the ethernet cable itself so I bought a new one, and it didn't correct the problem. When I hook any of the cables up directly from the modem to the labtop or the pc the ethernet light comes on and I have internet connection again. Why doesn't my router recognize the cable?
I have a couple of 2600 APs (external antenna) which are getting PoE from my switch but no ethernet. This is happening on both APs. If I connect a laptop to the (cat5e) cable I get ethernet. If i move the AP to another patch lead adjacent to my switch I get ethernet connectivity too. So, change the cable is the answer I thought, however I have exactly the same issue on both APs and each ethernet cable has been reterminated a number of times (straight through). I wonder is the 2600 AP less tolerant to the actual ethernet cable ?
I just swap the cable, however the patch leads have been run (only 15m or so) and have been replaced once - relaying again is not an easy job. It's more a case of reterminating the cable that is already there and as I've already done this a few times on each patch lead and the results are the same each time I'm thinking I'm missing something obvious.
I try connecting via ethernet cable and it doesn't seem to work until the administrator of the network (my brother) comes home and then turns his computer on and starts using it. However, if i switch to a wireless adapter it sometimes works (like right now) even when my brother is not using the internet. Also, i tried to connect via wifi on my macbook pro to the same server and it used to work flawlessly 100% of the time, now i can only connect once in a while for short periods of times.
I have a Belkin usb adapter to pick up my wireless internet. problem is when i choose my network to connect to it constantly says "acquring network address". But as soon as i plug in an ethernet cable from the router the wireless starts working and i just unplug the ethernet cble. So why does my wireelss card depend on my ethernet conenction?
I'm using a refurbished WRT54G2 v1.5 router. I've had the router for two and a half years and have never had a problem. I recently unplugged my DSL modem and this router to move them, and when I plugged them in again, the router stopped picking up the internet signal from the DSL modem. I'm able to get internet when I hardwire directly to the modem though. I tried resetting the router and setting the router up from scratch again, but now I just get error 321 Ethernet cable not connected when I try and run the setup cd.
The last time I had to reconfigure the connections it took me hours! My son had to wipe his desktop clean and reinstall everything. Now when he tried to connect to the internet we can't get a connection at all. My desktop is still working fine as well as the wireless laptops. What do we have to do to get him reconnected?
I am looking to upgrade my home wifi from a Linksys WRT54G running DD-WRT to something that will handle .11n. I've been looking at the Unifi PoE APs. Their base model support N, but only on 2.4GHz, and only has a 100Mb port. I was concerned about that being a limiting factor. They've recently released a new line that supports Dual Band and has a Gig port, but it cost about 4 times as much. Here are my goals:
1.) PoE if possible. Currently the AP is my rack in the basement. I'l thinking of running an additional cable to somewhere central on the first floor and putting the AP there for better coverage/signal. Running just a CAT 5e cable is much easier than having to supply power as well. Second thought was to get two Unifi APs and setup a mesh with roaming, which it looks like they support, for best coverage. In that case I'd put one in a top floor room that already has CAT 5e.
2.) I'd really prefer access points to a router. I already have a pfsense box that does the routing. If this means getting something that will run DD-WRT, Tomato, or the like and turning it into an AP fine.
3.) I would like something that is dual band .11n.
4.) Something that support RADIUS
5.) Multiple SSID support and VLAN support. I want to be able to offer at least 2 separate networks.
So am I stuck buying the Unifi dual band AP? Or should I get something like the Asus RT-N66U and put Tomato on it?Does anyone have acutal expreience with the Unifi products?
I have found some samples on the FlexConnect setup for the controller side. However none of the documents mentioned how the switch port should be configured that goes to the controller and AP.
At this moment I have a Cisco 5508 configured in CAPWAP mode with 20 APs. I would like to use same controller for connecting one of the remote sites with 2 APs in FlexConnect mode. Current the 5508 to switch port is configured as 802.1Q port. All CAPWAP AP ports are configured as "switchport access vlan X" where X=capwap VLAN. Need to know how the switch port should be set for the remote site where flexconnect APs connect.
Region : UnitedKingdom Model : TL-WR740N Hardware Version : Not Clear Firmware Version : ISP : I am trying to set up my router for about 2 days without any effect.
Here you can find, what I have to do to connect through Ethernet cable to the internet at our university:[url]....
When I set auto-detect IP on router, it says that I have Static IP. In CMD I can find out all the information about the connection and the licence is usually for one day (automatically renewing). I've also tried to clone MAC address, nothing happened.
