SA700 IPhone Enterprise Controls

Aug 31, 2011

if any of you are controlling iPhones within your organizations. I was hoping to use JUNOS Pulse licenses on my SA700 to control things, but all they offer for iOS devices is SSL VPN. I can do remote wipes with activesync, but I'm worried about cloud backups of corporate data on mobileme, and setting and enforcing security policies in a scalable way. I know I can manually deploy XML config from the iPhone configuration utility, but that's a bit of a PITA for remote devices (ie other countries) that I'llnever have physical access to.

Wireless Home Router With Admin Controls?

Feb 4, 2012

We have a fast broadband service and three teenagers, two of which have laptopsWe are allowed 100Gb/month; if we exceed that, the we are charged $1.5/Mb. The provider has a web interface where we can check the last 24hours' usage. When ever we go over the daily budget, I ask the darling children who was watching all the videos-- to which they all say "not me".I want a wireless router with some admin features that allow me to see real-time who is the bandwith pig and shut them doI am not aware of any routers in the $100-$150 range that have these kind of features. There are industrial grade Cisco routers, but these have more features than I need and are really expensive

D-Link DIR-655 :: Access Controls Don't Work In Firmware 2.07

Oct 28, 2012

Why the access controls don't work in firmware 2.07? I have some sites game sites disabled in my DIR-655. When I upgraded the firmware to 2.07, the router just didn't work until I removed all the access controls features that I had enabled. I started over, downgraded to 2.03, re-upgraded to 2.07, didn't bring in my saved settings, had everything with factory defaults. I then created one policy in access controls and added it to schedule, and bingo, the router didn't work after that.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA3500 - Set Parental Controls On It?

Mar 13, 2013

I need to set parental controls on a device EA3500. Problem is that the device is listed under the same icon as a device I don't want restricted.  If I click on the icon it lists one MAC as wireless 1 and the other as wireless 2 but still as one device name.  One is an Xbox (the one I want restricted) and the other is a PC on Windows 7.  I can only set up parental controls by icons/device names, not MACs and MAC filtering is a pain as I have to add and remove it everyday at a certain time.

Cisco :: When To Use DWDM In Enterprise

Mar 11, 2013

I'm used to seeing DWDM and muxes being used in the service provider world, but when and why would an enterprise want to use this kind of gear? The two basically lets you combine streams of signaling from many different physical sources into one media, but can't a VLAN trunk or a routed link, for example, do the same? Sure, they all operate at different layers of the OSI model, but in all cases you're still getting separate streams of data from Point A, putting it all on one wire, and sending it to Point B.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Parental Controls Don't Work On EA4500?

Jan 30, 2013

I have a Linksys EA4500 Router.  Both my kids have laptops.   I've tried using the Parental Controls to restrict access to certain websites and also to put in timeframes that they're computers can't access the Internet.  However, it does not work at all!  I've tried turning off their computers and then resetting the router after I made the changes, but the access restrictions do not work.  We also have their Xbox set up on the router -- so maybe some of the settings we have for the Xbox are messing up Parental Controls?

Linksys Wireless Router :: Disable IPv6 For Parental Controls?

Jan 14, 2013

So I've realized that my parental controls were being ignored by the computers, at first I figured my son had found a work around to by-pass. But reading through the forums today, I've found that IPv6 being enabled might be the cause of my issue. So I'm currently sitting at work and connected to my router remotely, but for the life of me, can't see where to disable this option.  Using the Smart Wi-Fi interface, closest I can get is "Connectivity, Internet Settings, IPv6 but everything is grayed out and no option to edit this.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA6500 Smart Wi-Fi Parental Controls

Mar 31, 2013

I am new to the forum and Linksys products.  i have always been a Netgear fan.   What brings me to Linksys is the Smart WIFI parental controls.  My children have iPod touch and Kindle Fire.  I want to "manage" the content (Youtube, internet, etc..) on these devices.  I want to be able to control when they have access to the WIFI and when they don't.   Another words, I want to go the router web interface and find the device and turn OFF the connection without affecting the rest of the house.

I was looking at EA6500 router as a pontential new router.  Would this router give me the control I need?

Enterprise Network In Terms Of Security?

Jun 19, 2011

How to treat your enterprise network in terms of security? Do you firewall between sites? Between subnets? I've been a little gung-ho with packet filtering, and the more the network is growing the harder is becoming to make that scalable and manageable. It's looking like a pretty good idea to just open up access to/from all my sites. I'm going to continue locking down user areas where we can't necessarily trust the boxes, but all our server subnets I think can be opened up to unfettered access.

WPA2 Enterprise Connecting Much Too Slowy On HP Laptop?

Oct 29, 2011

Recently bought a laptop HP Pavilion DM4 with Windows 7 home premium 64 bit for use in a college wireless environment. The school insists on WPA2 Enterprise connection, which is supposedly the recommended Microsoft security protocol for Win 7. I have all the correct settings, such that I can routinely connect to the wireless network but on this model HP I consistently get speeds way under 10kbs, while if I use EXACT same settings on a different Lenovo, Dell, or other models of HP get speeds of over 5MG. Yes 500x faster.Of course HP wanted to blame the network, but after sending 2 technicians to visit on campus, they agreed it was their hardware, so they sent a replacement unit. Unfortunately, the replacement unit has the EXACT same problem. BTW the problem computers do connect flawlessly to other wifi networks at full speed, just not the WPA2 Enterprise network.

Cisco WAN :: 2621 - How To Setup Enterprise EIGRP

Dec 19, 2011

OPTEMAN: 3 routers connected via a private subnet (/29) over the OPTEMAN: Site A, Site B, and HQ. Site A is a 3560 that is the gateway for two subnets: siteA1 and siteA2. SiteB is a 2621, and HQ is a 6509 w/ MFSC.

HQ also connects to 4 other sites via MPLS: SiteC, SiteD, SiteE, and Site F.

HQ has the server subnet, Internet connection, and connection to other services via MPLS.

I have basic EIGRP  setup on HQ, SiteA, and SiteB. So far only siteA and HQ are updating each other. Not sure why. I am looking for the best practice example of how I should setup my enterprise EIGRP. I currently use static routes between the sites. I would prefer to be able to setup EIGRP in parallel, the remove the static routes.

MSM410 Wireless Enterprise Deployment / HP Or Ubiquiti

Jan 13, 2013

I currently work for an enterprise that want to deploy wireless network (6AP for now) and I'm the one who will manage and install it.I had initially planed to deploy Ubiquiti network because I've heard lot of good thing about them. But they did not wait me and bought (crappy?) HP access point (MSM410)

What do you think about HP wireless network ? They did not yet buy the access point controller and I'm not sure they want to buy one.I can't find any review on the HP solutions it looks like no one is using it.

Do you recommend me to continue with the HP solution and buy a HP controller or go with Ubiquiti and rebuy the access points (no so much expensive in comparison with the price of the HP controller alone)

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 V2 - Can Parental Controls Work With DHCP Server

Mar 5, 2012

On my new E4200v2, after I tried to move beyond the disappointment of Cisco removing Internet Access Policy entirely, I decided to give the stripped down Parental Controls a try.

Sadly, I didn't have any luck doing what I needed to do... block my Tivo's from accessing Youtube.

I enabled Parental Controls, Added the Target Devices (my Tivo's did show up), and added "Youtube.com" as blocked site #1.  Saved.  Entered the parental password when prompted.  Even rebooted the router.

But Youtube wasn't blocked.  So I added to the target list a non-Tivo device (a Macbook) for a reality check, and rebooted the router again... still no luck.  Youtube still not blocked.

So then I started to wonder if their Parental Control depends somehow on the local DHCP server & Client list.  Because my E4200 has DHCP Server = OFF (I have always used a Windows Server for DHCP).

I tried to call Linksys support to get this working, but after 45 mins, including escalation to senior engineer, they really were pretty useless (no real familiariarity with my problem) then they disconnected my call!
