View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an established wireless network, using a wired Dell desktop (XP), wireless HP G70-250US notebook (Vista), wireless HP Officejet 650 E709n printer, and Belkin N600 router. To make a long story shorter, both my cable company and Belkin were involved to set up the router a few months ago, and I was assigned an SSID and password that I now want to change. I've received emails from Belkin on changing it at the router - but when it comes to my notebook computer, how to establish a network - I'd like to know how to change the SSID and password in an already-established network, once I've made changes with the router. I'm assuming this is possible? It is my understanding that I don't need to make any changes with my wired desktop, other than to use it when making the router changes? I'm a little familiar with the network configuration setting process with my printer, so am pretty sure I can handle that.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAs far as im aware the current set up of the network is two desktops connected to a router and the router is connected to a switch (i didnt assemble the network) Now what im trying to do is get onto the router so i can change the SSID for a wirless connection.i was told by the ISP i was to change my IP, DG and subnet from DHCP to a static setup they gave me, which i did. but when i go into the browser to access the net (and ultimatly put the IP into the adress bar to access the properties) the net connection fails and i cant get on. when i change back to DHCP the net works again but i cant configure the router with this IP because the company has forgoten the admin/password.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an issue where I cannot get clients to change SSID. I have two SSID, one WPA2 secure, one open guest. The secure is locally switched via Flexconnect and the guest is centrally switched. Both of them work. I have been able to test this and both work as intended. The problem is that once you connect to one of them, either secure or guest, you cannot then change to the other. The only way to change is to delete the dhcp entry from the scope and then do it.
Fast SSID change is enabled. I also have debug client output from when the client fails when you try to switch which I will include below. I also pulled some wireshark captures and those show me that the DHCP ack packets are trying to give the client the ip address from the incorrect/previous scope. So basically it's like FAST SSID change is not working and the client is never being disassociated properly??
I am totally stumped and even though the client will most likely not be switched between SSID that often I would still like to know the solution.

The Windows domain is at 2003 functional level, but has been extended to have the Wireless policies, and we have a 2008 DC in the test network also.
Is there any definitive guide to setting up a WPA2-Enterprise wireless network? Most of what I find is mostly client side. I am trying to get the Group Policy setup to push down to the client machines.
We are using cisco 3502i AP's and 5508 controler. We have two SSID's. "SA Wireless" and "Guest Wireless". SA Wireless is WPA2 enterprise security and the "Guest Wireless" is open. The iPads will disconnect from "SA Wireless" and join "Guest Wireless" at random. Is there a way to force them to stay on "SA Wireless" and only change if you actually tell the iPad to change?

I can physically connect to it with a cable but I can't access it with the wireless card. When I look at the properties it says that it is working fine but I can't seem to find where to change the "SSID and the security phrase". I am running Windows 7 home Premium and the router is a Draytek Vigor 2710 using WPA2. I can see the network when the SSID isn't being broadcast, it just refuses to connect to it. As soon as I switch on the SSID it connects like a dream.

View 4 Replies View Relatedi live in a two story townhouse. under the stairs, there is a small closet where the modem and router are. there are also three ethernet ports, one that leads to each of the bedrooms. However, the only one that is being used is my room (my roommates dont need ethernet) so what i decided to do was run the ethernet port from the modem directly to my room and then connect the router to it using the ethernet port in my room. (my room is upstairs)
Now, this setup works great for me. I can connect my HD to the Airport and my printer via ethernet and my desktop as well. BUT ever since i moved the router upstairs to my room, the internet has been EXTREMELY slow downstairs
so this is what i was thinking, I want to get another wireless router and put it downstairs where the modem is, and use my airport Extreme as the "second" router. But, i want to use a different SSID for my airport extreme. is this possible?
I was thinking to connect the new router downstairs like normal, and disable the DHCP server on the airport extreme and change the IP address to make sure it isnt the same as the new router, then connect the new router to one of the three ethernet ports on my airport extreme.
Is that the correct way to set it up? and if i do that, would i be able to connect all my devices without a problem? (in addition to the devices mentioned earlier, i also have a second printer, a PS3, a home entertainment system, and sometimes my laptop, all connected to the airport via an ethernet switch) and lastly, will I be able to access the internet without a problem? will this slow down the internet that i get?
the reason i want to do this is because 1) I dont want any of my roommates or their guests to access my hard drive (i know, i can put a password on it. but still) and 2) if my printers are on the same network as their computers, they like to "accidentally" wirelessly print to my printers.
