View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have an issue in which some of our public IPs will not work from outside. We have a couple of subnets/29. We allow traffic via access rules and they point to internal servers (nat to nat). So I requested an ARP table from our ISP router. The table shows that the non working IPs have a differect MAC address than the working IPs. Our ISP blames our equipment (CIsco ASA 5510) for this. I spoke to Cisco support. They looked at our configuration, and tested it. They say our configuration is correct and the ISP's equipment is doing it.

As you can see above, the IP ending in 205 has a different MAC address ending in 4cd9. It should end in 4cd8. This seems to happened randomly with all IPs. Like if I restart the ASA. Some of the IPs will not work, and will show a different MAC address.We then have to wait a couple of hrs for them to start work again.
The router is a N Wireless Router. When I try to connect to my router through my phone the SSID appears as belkin.2lc and it won't connect but says authorizing then disconnected. The weird thing is that my laptop and all my roommates laptops and my Xbox can all see the routers real SSID and connect.just fine. I've tried restarting the router and my phone. I've also checked my router settings and made sure their is no MAC address enabled.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI have a 4410N set up on my network. I'm using 4 VLANs on my network, of which, I use my default VLAN 1, as the "public" VLAN which we use to give our clients free WiFi. I would like to have two SSIDs visible from the access point, one unsecured and connected to VLAN 1, and the other secured with WPA2 and connected to our office VLAN on which various servers and resources are available. My preference is for both SSIDs to be visible, as there is not a major security issue and as the only IT person, I do not have time to configure every computer which uses the network with the SSID, but I'll do that if I have to.
I set up the 4410N with it's first SSID using our public WiFi name and did not put any security on it. I went to the VLAN page and set it to use VLAN 1 as both the default VLAN and the VLAN for the first SSID. Then I went back to the Basic Settings page and added a second SSID and chose "Enabled". I went to the Security page and left most things as default (Wireless Isolation between SSIDs is enabled) and changed the security settings for the office SSID to WPA2-Personal. Finally I went to the VLAN page and set it's VLAN to 4.
When I go back to my computer, or from other wireless devices, I only see the public SSID, not the office. I do see on my computer (Win7 x64) an "Other Network" option, but the signal strength on that network is significatnly weaker than that of the public SSID. Also, if I try to connect to it using the office SSID name and the password I set, it doesn't connect.
Am I completely misunderstanding how multiple SSIDs are supposed to work? I am working from a lot of assumptions here.
PS I have no clue if this would affect it, but in the interest of listing all possible factors, the 4410N is powered via PoE and the switch port it is connected to is set to 802.1Q with 1-4 set as the VLANs.
After posting this I discovered that in the Wireless Status page, both SSIDs are listed, but only one (the public SSID) has a MAC listed. I assume I need to add one somewhere. Where should I do this, and what's a "safe" MAC to use that won't conflict with anything?
I have a E4200 router(firm 1.0.14), which was acting strange, so I reset it.(Windows PC's were hacked with Bluetooth RAT) I did a 30-30-30 reset, and flashed v1.0.14 firmware again.
Presently, I'm using Ubuntu Linux 12.04 LTS, to access Setup(Admin) via computer. After changing to a strong password to access the Admin, I setup everything, as it appeared, [when I used Cisco home network app in Windows, then went in and wrote everything down, in a (paper)notebook], that I keep locked in the safe.
Next, I set the SSID as JCs Gate, expecting JCs Gate & JCs Gate-Guest to appear wireless, after setting up WPA2 security(for both bands), and turning on guest AP and limiting it to 3 as not many use it. After saving and rebooting the router, I am still seeing Cisco23540 as my SSID, and I prefer not to broadcast my router make, as I've reported the neighborhood kid(to his father), after several hacking attempts, from his MAC addy(which I know because I see it in the logs, and sold them the PC custom built) and want to get Cisco out of the SSID.
I'm a hardware IT tech pro, with a MCSE cert, so I'm not a stranger to router setups, after 15+ years in the biz. Either, I'm missing something or going crazy. BTW for about 1hour both JCs Gate and Cisco 23540 were both broadcasting.
why my SSID still displays even though I have the SSID Broadcast "Disabled" for 5 GHz and 2.4Ghz configurations. The name of my network shows full signal strength and a lock next to the name but I was under the impression if I have disabled the SSID broadcast it shouldn't show up at all and would force a user to manually input the network name when trying to connect to it. I have the router configured to only allow certain MAC addresses wireless access as well. Router is running Firmware Version: 1.0.03.Also, my primary computer my iMac running 10.7.2 boots up or is brought out of sleep mode I constantly need to go up to the top of my screen and re-select my network.

This evening the signal strength of my SSID dropped to LOW and a new SSID now shows up with full signal strength. It s not an SSID from any of my neighbors and from checking several forums it appears this is known problem.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to see if I can fix my friend's NAS which apparently has some pretty important data on it that wasn't saved anywhere else. They actually had the Geeksquad look at it and they've come to the same conclusion I have so far, but I figured I would ask the internet before I gave the thing back to them and said Geeksquad was right.
Anyways, they have this 5 drive RAIDed NAS which apparently just stopped showing up on their network. I borrowed it from them to see if I could figure it out. It turns on just fine and my router assigns it an IP address, but the IP address just takes me to a blank LaCie dashboard screen. It's weird because it's clearly running it's web server because it's just a gray background with an empty white box and "(c) LaCie 2010" at the bottom. No content at all.
Additionally, I tried installing the LaCie Network Assistant on my home computer and it says it cannot find any network disks. I've tried the "wake up a device" where I enter the mac address, but that doesn't do anything.
All the lights are solid blue on the front and over all the drives so it doesn't appear a drive has failed or something. Even so, that wouldn't really explain the blank dashboard right?
In setup for old RV042 (V1), when updating / adding Mac addresses, the table is always sorted by IP addresses. But in the new oneRV042 (V3) I have, even with latest firmware 4.2.1.02 the list is random, thereby increasing the chance of user entering DUPLICATE IP addr with diff Mac addr. That will result in conflict.If the firmware sorts the DHCP entries by ip addresses, user would be able to catch duplicate ip errors even if the system does not flag the errors. All Cisco smart engineers can you all get the dhcp entries SORT by ip addresses.

Every single other device I have will connect, including other laptops, but this one won't. In the network and sharing center it shows that my network is available, but it will not connect. I have tried everything I can think of. I have looked all over the internet, nd still can't figure it out!!!! My computer's wifi IS on so its not that. The only thing that the trouble shooter tells me to do is unplug the router and restart it and that has not worked after several tries. Also is there a way to reset the computers recognition of networks? Im wondering if that would work if I could completely restart the process again, but I dont know how to get to that. I have a dell inspiron with windows 7.

I recently build a Frankenstein desktop, or at least that's what I'm calling.I started out replacing the motherboard in a HP Pavillion p6130y desktop.After some research I found that the stock motherboard as pretty outdated so I decided to go aftermarket.I wanted to replace as little as possible but now the only original parts are the dvd drive and network card.The network card has to screws on the back to attach an antenna and is a PCI1x card.
I now have a problem where after installing the card and Windows 7 Professional , I can see the list of available wireless networks including my own.But, I cannot connect to any of them even though my own network has full signal strength.
Replaced a router. My windows 7 laptop will not connect & shows nothing in the network window. It is like a setting on the computer has been changed.

There is something weird going on to me in which is shows I am connected to two networks, one my home network clearly identified. View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a Lynksys WRT600N. I had DD-WRT on it and it was working great for about a year. One day I changed some minor settings like wireless signal type, reboot it and it's gone. I can not access it from my computer. The network adapter shows "cable unplugged". The lights on the front come on, but I can't get anywhere with it.
I've done all the resets I know how to do, including the 30/30/30 and leaving it unplugged for a few months.
I have a Dell Vostro 1500 and I have AT&T wireless internet in my house. My other computers and Roku connect with no problem, but mine even though it says it is connected, is not connected. I have Windows XP the other computer is Vista and the desktop is also XP. Even AT&T came over the house and said something is wrong with the computer.

It both said "No Internet Access" Then later IPv6 said "No Network Access" That's the problem i am having on my personal laptop computer. View 1 Replies View RelatedI had a small issue wherein my pc would lose ALL network connection to my pc, but the network icon showed that i had full signal, no issues. as long as i sign in on skype before the internet drops, it will stay on after it drops and i can still chat and everything, and to fix, i had to restart my pc. well, it had gotten better.And now its back, and WAY worse then before. skype doesnt have time to sign in upon bootup, and wont connect. steam wont connect, NOTHING will conect, but i still show full signal and no yellow mark or anything! I have done the following:

and no, i am not able to reinstall windows. I am going to try (soon, i am not able to just yet) direct ethernet to my router. all other PCs in the house are working perfectly, even this one that is slow as crap because it has windows 7 and is designed for windows XP.
I purchased my WAT54G a couple of years ago when I added a laptop, I have my desktop which is connected to DSL and a wireless printer and my laptop.A neighbor told me that I should secure my network as he has used it when his system went down. My son had added a P/W when we first set up the router.I have since found the NETWORK MAP on which shows all the users on the network and half my street is on there.I have again added a P/W how do I know if its SECURE?

But now I do not have internet access through this laptop although the network icon shows "connected". I have tried all the advice/solutions for such type of problem by doing Firewall off/on and changing adapter & network setting. I also updated all the drivers. But nothing works. It is notable that my other desktop is working properly in spite of installing this software.
