I have a wireless router. The first time I connected my computer to it, it worked. I went in to change the network password, and after that, it stopped working. Every single other device I have will connect, including other laptops, but this one won't. In the network and sharing center it shows that my network is available, but it will not connect. I have tried everything I can think of. I have looked all over the internet, nd still can't figure it out!!!! My computer's wifi IS on so its not that. The only thing that the trouble shooter tells me to do is unplug the router and restart it and that has not worked after several tries. Also is there a way to reset the computers recognition of networks? Im wondering if that would work if I could completely restart the process again, but I dont know how to get to that. I have a dell inspiron with windows 7.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe green light on my Ethernet port is always on. Even when I unplug the Ethernet cable and shut down my computer. The only way it turns off is when I unplug my computer from the outlet. Also, my computer doesn't receive any internet when an Ethernet cable is plugged in and the yellow flashing light doesn't show either. I know the Ethernet cable is fine and the internet works fine on other computers

Did a bad dd-wrt flash and now all it does:
-no power light
-solid green lights: WAN-L1-L2-L3-L4
tried to go to recovery mode (power on while holding reset switch).....does not work.my search on the internet revealed, that after bad flash, power light still comes on, maybe as orange, maybe blinking, or just blinks once
the router is functional, however the green light has never blinked like it is now.
View 1 Replies View Relatedafter several years of proper functioning my WAP started to make trouble and recently stopped working. I've tried a lot of options to get it back online but I failed doing so.The green ACT LED won't light up anymore so my laptop cannot find the WAP anymore. When connecting the WAP directly to the laptop the Network Center shows that Windows is trying to identify the WAP but this messages disappears and re-appears on and on but there is no succes in identification (ofcourse this is caused the the green ACT LED which won't light-up).
View 1 Replies View Relatedmy family kept having a problem with our Billion 6800n router. (or something like that).Basically we pinned the problem down to it not having the strength to keep several connections running through it. So we upgraded to a Billion 7800n and found it is much more stable and much faster. However it has been having a similar problem to our previous router.
Occasionally the internet light drops from green to orange, and we can't load any more pages until it has gone back to green. Here is a picture of what it looks like when in that status. But the weird thing is the connection bars on the windows toolbar at the bottom of the screen still show full strength. As shown here. Now I thought it might be because it was sharing a power board with other connections going through it,so I transferred it to a smaller two-plug one instead.
For the past year or so, 5-6 times a day my router's green internet light will turn red, needing a reset... 99% of its usage is through wired connections and this is the only router in my home.

I've not found any topic related to what happened to me. Bought two cameras and upgraded the firmware on both as asked, but one of them just stopped. The light is solid green and not red like other posts.Tried the recovery procedure, but the browser won't find my camera. Changed computer IP and everything else that was told to be done. Nothing works!! I also can't find any posts relaled to my problem all over the internet.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have a fairly new Asus laptop and for some reason we can't get the wireless to turn on any more.It has a Function button method to turn it on and off and any time you use this button it shows the WLAN simple with a red line through it. No matter how many times you press it it does the same thing.I've tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling, ran a security update for the drivers. When I go into the wireless connection and try and turn it on it shows that it has a signal (not sure what to) but a red X next to the connection in windows 7. I can't actually see any wireless signals so I'm kind of at a loss.

connected ethernet directly to computer - no problems
attempted to fix problems via belkin software
changed channels on modem
updated firmware
etc, etc
I recently build a Frankenstein desktop, or at least that's what I'm calling.I started out replacing the motherboard in a HP Pavillion p6130y desktop. After some research I found that the stock motherboard as pretty outdated so I decided to go aftermarket.I wanted to replace as little as possible but now the only original parts are the dvd drive and network card. The network card has to screws on the back to attach an antenna and is a PCI1x card.
I now have a problem where after installing the card and Windows 7 Professional , I can see the list of available wireless networks including my own. But, I cannot connect to any of them even though my own network has full signal strength.
Replaced a router. My windows 7 laptop will not connect & shows nothing in the network window. It is like a setting on the computer has been changed.

I have done the following:
reboot(derp)
reinstall drivers
move wifi adapter
disable IPv6
[code]....
and no, i am not able to reinstall windows. I am going to try (soon, i am not able to just yet) direct ethernet to my router. all other PCs in the house are working perfectly, even this one that is slow as crap because it has windows 7 and is designed for windows XP.

new HP 2000 computer he just purchased. I brought it to my house to set it up. No problems connecting to wifi at my home. Downloaded all the updates and got it ready for his house. When I tried connecting to his network, it kept giving me the network key. I know I was entering the correct information because we had his older computer and I copied the exact thing. I had also made a folder when I set up his other computer with his information for his network in it and I was going by that. I tried to automatically connect and I also tried to manually connect. I deleted the name of my network (that worked) and rebooted. It continually gives me the block to put the password in. I brought it back to my house and the wifi connected with no problems. His old toshiba had no problems connecting to his network. I disconnected it and reconnected it. Is there something about the settings I am not doing? Or is it a firewall setting? Is there something in the modem that is conflicting with the new HP. It's a WAP2 Personal with AES Encryption (did not work on that one), where as my network is a WPA Personal with TKIP Encryption (worked on this one). Will that make a difference and if so what do I do about it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop (win7) and desktop (vista) in a network. The laptop is wireless and the desktop is hard-wired into a d-link router. My computer recently updated and since then I cannot connect to my desktop from my laptop. The desktop shows up in the network map but when I click it, it hangs and says "network path not found". I can ping the IP and the name of the PC from command line but I cannot access it. I have internet connectivity the whole time regardless and I've tried multiple routers.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI have recently become the proud owner of a Sony Xperia P which I would to be able to connect to Wifi in my bedroom. Unfortunately, as my router's WLAN isn't strong enough to reach my room (I get internet on my laptop via ethernet cable) I need to use my laptop as a hotspot to be able to connect my phone. So I set up an ad-hoc network to share my laptop's internet connection via its own Wifi. I'm pretty confident I followed all the required steps accurately (enabled LAN connection sharing, etc), but when I try to connect to my new ad-hoc network on my laptop's list of wireless networks, I just get indefinitely stuck in the "Waiting for the network..." stage. I also tried with WEP security disabled, so no key was required, but to no avail. I know the laptop's wifi works fine as I can connect to my router (when in range) without a problem. Needless to say, my ad-hoc network is also not yet appearing on my phone's wifi connections.Running XP SP3, with Intel Wifi Link 5100 AGN.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a computer on a school network, i recently set up a WDS server to make rebuilding computers allot easier and faster. I created an image for a Inspiron Desktop 560ST but when i tried to redeploy the image back on the exact same computer while connecting to WDS deployment service i get this error.
<Installing windows>WdsClient: An error Occured while obtaining an IP address from the DHCP server. check to ensure that there is an operational DHCP server on this network segment.

Our default IP is not a 169.xxx.xxx.xxx it is 172.xxx.xxx.xxx so thats obviously not right, and then I try typing ipconfig /renew and it waits a super long time and then i get Windows IP Configuration:An Error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out.An error occurred while releasing interface LoopBack Pseudo-Interface 1 : The system can not find the file specified. This computer is part of a lab of about 25 computer and every other computer has no problems, even if i take the network cable out of this computer and plug it into the computer right next to it(I'm take it right from one computer to another, i'm not touching the switch end) the computer right next to it is fine. So its not the switch or the cable.
So I'm currently running window 7 on my msi GT683-R. As of yesterday my internet stopped working, however only on my msi. I'm currently typing this on a borrowed mac using the same network that doesn't work on the other device. It also works on my iPhone. The problem is, neither the wifi nor the wired works on my MSI. I made sure DHCP was on, ran a TCP/IP stack reset, a winsock reset, have restarted my computer/router multiple times, and disabled bonjour but nothing seems to work.
