We have a fairly new Asus laptop and for some reason we can't get the wireless to turn on any more.It has a Function button method to turn it on and off and any time you use this button it shows the WLAN simple with a red line through it. No matter how many times you press it it does the same thing.I've tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling, ran a security update for the drivers. When I go into the wireless connection and try and turn it on it shows that it has a signal (not sure what to) but a red X next to the connection in windows 7. I can't actually see any wireless signals so I'm kind of at a loss.
I have 2 laptops, a DELL (windows XP home) and a Toshiba (windows 7).i suddenly couldn't get online with my Toshiba a week ago. Looks like I'm connected, but just can't send out. I changed to the DELL and all was fine for days, then I suddenly couldn't send out for a website with this, either. My connection shows strong, and can receive, but can't send out. This is a secure network (supposedly). I've rebooted, and have internet phone that works, so it's not the modem.
I have a WLC 4404. I added a new AP to the network and it is associated with the WLC now. But still its not braodcasting the ssids. I compared the configuration with the ones installed before and configuration is same.
I previously asked if I should be concerned that the Internet light on my Linksys E3000 router doesn't light up when I have Internet access. Well recently I had to do a reset and I noticed that during the reset it does in fact light up, but it doesn't come on when the router is done with the reset!
I am trying to light up every port light on a 3750g. There is not anything plugged into them and I would like to know (just for fun) is there a way to make every port light 1 - 48 turn on using a command?
For quite some time now my parents' wireless internet cannot seem to keep a wireless signal anywhere in the house unless you are sitting next to the router. I've been doing everything I know to try and keep the signal strong enough to use it down the hall in the living room.
I've tried using different frequencies and channels however this only seems to work for an hour then the network will fall off the network list entirely and then a few minutes later will pop back in. What is causing this signal to die out completely every few minutes? They've tried countless numbers of wireless routers in hopes it would fix the problem however this never seems to work. Is this an issue with the ISP and/or the modem they provide us? Wired connections work fine, just wireless connections refuse to either stay up or constantly disconnect the user from the network.
Running vista. When I pull up my list of possible wireless signals to try and connect.
I normally get asked to input a security key. NOW the screen will simply close after i press the enter key. Right clicking and trying to connect also am having the same issue. MY wireless signal for MY comcast account it connects perfectly.
know if there is anyway i can get internet connection via measures other than wifi.i have wifi modem on first floor and my desktop pc is on 2nd.i cannot receive any signals here and when i do they are very weak and get disconnected often.i heard about cat 5 lan extensions and powerline adapters but dont know how they work and HOW to make them work.
I have a 1 year old Netgear DG834PN. Everything is functioning perfectly EXCEPT for my wireless. There is no green (yellow) light on the modum itself. The tech support guys have spent time with me but without success. Loads of excuses from them.I am connected by ethernet cable and everything works fine but I have sustained a back injury and desperately need to get the wireless functioning.I can access the Netgear smart wizard page - originally I had a blank page on "wireless page".. I downloaded the latest upgrade and still had the same issues.changed computers and now I can access the wireless page settings. All seems good there but still cannot get the modum to boot with a wireless signal.
For my network the way it is setup is one building has the 2 main servers.simple wireless router and a few laptop that connect to it. a Wii and some other devices, all of them share media etc with no issue. Internet is not a problem either. One of the servers has a PCI wireless card and connects to another network.(network2)network 2 is able to share and play all the media off the service lets say 80% of the time.It also has a different internet provider and internet connection is not a problem but the wireless signal strength is low , (2 bars) or -55 to -82 it seams to jump around at.If you try to stream or play too much media it freezes on you. or if 2 devices on network 2 try to play something it freezes as well sometimes though when the signal is good -55 ish there is no issues. There is alot of wireless traffic in the area, i cant change that.and dont really want to buy a ranger extender or something $20 is what I have for parts if anything. If I were to put a 2nd wireless card in server 2 or Server 1 even. Also both the wireless router on network 2 and the pci card on server 2 are physically as close as hey can get.
I've had my computer for maybe a year now, and I have not had problems with my wireless before. Two nights ago I found that I lost internet, and when I tried to reconnect there were no connections available.
My wireless IS on, and my mother's IPad uses the same router as my laptop does for internet and she gets internet with no problem, so it's not the router. I've tried rebooting the computer, disabling and reinabling the wireless, shutting down the computer for the night and trying in the morning, and none of these things worked.
Can I have 2 routers and make 2 separate wireless signals? Reason being I need one so that I can keep net blacks for my little brother but I would like my net not to have any restrictions.
Just made a fresh computer, installed Win98 (have only 128 ram so no XP) I have a card I put in the computer from Linksys which allows for a desktop to have wireless internet. I installed the Linksys software. (first thing I've ever installed on this Computer after Windows) It doesn't pick up the wireless signal in the house (my laptop does just fine).. is there another program floating around somewhere?
i have a packard bell network.i formatted the whole laptop.and now my laptop doesnot show any wireless network, however connects to dial up connection.i am using windows 7 ultimate 32 bit os
Recently I bought a new netgear router. It has two separate wireless signals. One is the main wireless connection for my computers. The other is a slower backup network for smartphones, apple tv, and guests. All of the other devices in the house can find both signals, but my main PC is only finding the backup network. It works fine for general browsing, but is very slow for downloads and unusable for gaming
I have a friend who asked me how he could stop his children accessing porn etc on their ipods etc that they pick up from a wireless router. Is it possible to route a wireless signal through a computer that has parental controls?
I work at technical support and I heard a story about a customer that lost his internet connection when there was a high tide. I do not know the details but is it possible that high tide can affect wireless internet signals?
My laptop will work on a wired connction just fine, however it fails to pick up wireless internet signals. It will either not find the signal, or not connect to it unless I have my laptop wired with an ethernet cable. My network adapter is a Broadcom 802.11n. I have tried updating the driver, and multiple different routers/connections.(Yes the adapter is enabled to search for connections, it just doesnt find them unless I have it wired)
I got high speed internet last week and have very little understanding of networking. I think I need either a Wireless Access Point, Bridge or Converter. What I'm trying to do: I currently have a Linksys E1000..I have two computers that access this point via built in adapters in the computers. In another room are my gaming consoles and television that I would like to hook up to the internet as well. Is there a wireless adapter that will pick up my Linksys E1000 signal and let me plug ethernet cords into it so my consoles and television can access the network?
I have an HP Compaq 2510p laptop which I rebuilt with Windows XP at work, and for some reason, any internal wireless card i install doesn't pick up a signal. The driver is installed properly, and device manager shows it as being functioning, but when i go into view available connections, it says none found. I have tried 2 separate cards, with the same issue. Now i did try an external USB wireless card, and that works fine, but nothing internal will.
My Gateway laptop has stopped sensing wireless signal. It was working just fine a few hours ago, then after I pulled it out of hibernate it stopped sensing the signal. I have switched the button off and on at least 3 times, tried restarting and turning off and starting. Have also tried the Fn-F2 a number of times but still no luck.
It seems since I have moved into my new house months ago my E3000 keeps on dropping its signal. I have an older roouter that doesn't do this. Currently I have a PS3/Xbox 360 plugged in and then the 3 laptops that use the wireless.
E2000-RM router has been working fine until about 2 days ago. Wired connection still works fine, but the wireless signals seems to be dropping in and out. I have a couple wireless devices and they all seem to be experiencing problems. Using the network connection bar on my laptop sometimes it shows a strong signal and connects no problem. Then all of a sudden the signal is gone (drops off list). It can be both the main and guest signal dropping, other times it might just be the main, etc., etc. Sometimes it shows a signal but will not connect and then a few seconds it might connect, or drop entirely. I guess the best word to describe it is highly erratic. Distance does not seem to matter. I can be 2 feet away and get the same behavior. The indicator on the box shows a signal at all times.
So I just got this router in hopes that I would get a better signal within my room as opposed to my older router. Unfortunately, nothing has changed, in fact I think I'm getting weaker signals. My previous router was a D-Link WBR-2310. I went to speed test.net and tested 3 variables. My wifi on my desktop in my room, my wifi when right next to a router on my laptop, and my wifi using my neighbors wifi in my room.
My room Desktop Wifi: Download was 0.50 mbs Upload: 3.6
My laptop right next to Router: Download 19.87 mbs Upload: 3.5
My room Desktop Neighbors Wifi: Download was 17.3 mbs Upload was 3.32.
What is the point of this new wireless N router, when it can't beat a G router older model in reach? And why does is have a 0.50 mb d/l speed but a 3.6 upload speed?
I am using a Negear Wireless USB adapter for the Dell Dimension 2400. The computer can see the wireless adapter in Device Manager; but it does not pick up any wireless signals.
There is a wireless switch to turn on/off for the laptop, but a desktop does not have such feature.
i receive my router signals at my laptop but no internet access. i am receiving this problem from last 2,3 days. Before this it was working fine. I have reset the router settings many time but no results. i get the signals at my laptop but i cant access the internet . some times i got DNS server error.
I have a Linksys wireless-G connected to my main computer and modem. We live in an extremely long house and I am attempting to connect a Belkin wireless-G router so that the signal is stronger on the other side of the house.
