Even though I am an Administrator on the server, sometimes I create files or folder on a network drive and when trying to access them later (or immediately in some cases), I am getting an "Access Denied" box.For example, I just created a folder, moved an item into it, then tried to rename the folder and was denied access.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have networked two computer with printers attached to each. PC1 is with a brother printer attached PC2 with a HP 1100 attached.In the past I had no difficulty with networking the computers and have access from each computer to each of the printers.
I up graded the computer Susan and I am now having a few problems that I never had before.After I perform the Network Setup Wizard on each of the computers (in many different methods) I am having the following problems.First, every now and then I am getting the following message after double clicking on Entire Network then Microsoft Windows Network:
Entire Network Not enough storage is available to process this command.If I wait a few moments I will get the MSHOME and am allowed to click on that. After this I do see both guy and Susan. If I double click on guy I see items pop up. If I click on Susan I get the following message:
Susan is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.The network path is not found.Of course I can not add the printer from Susan either. Though I have had no problem adding the printer from guy to Susan. And it prints properly.
my Laptop is about nine years old, HP Pavillion Pentium 4. I run Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 SP3. I use a broadband card from Verizon that I just put in my USB (no router, etc) I'm getting a System Error Source DHCP Event ID 1002. When this happens, my computer, I believe, is going into sleep mode and I have to reboot the system. When I turn it back on and go back on the internet, all my websites that I was in are still there. The error says: The IP address lease 10.170.223.48 for the Network Card with Network address 2c3068c16ED1 has been denied by the DHCP Server 10.173.229.86 (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message)The DHCP Server Service did not extend the lease on your computer's IP address, so your computer temporarily lost its connection with the Network. I tried the ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew. I tried going in services.msc and going under DHCP and keeping it automatic but stopping it. I called Verizon and I believe he refreshed my Network settings (I think I knew more about the topic than he did) He said it was my computer, whatever. I just tried the static IP but it didn't seem to take. I restarted and it jumped back to automatic. My last guess is it's something to do with the time frame of when it automatically obtains the address and when it expires. When I do the ipconfig /all it shows only a two hour time frame before it expires. Today I noticed that my computer shut down/sleepmode at the exact time the ipaddress was obtained. So, is there a way to increase this time between obtaining and expiring?

Make sure the remote computer is turned on and connected to the server, and that remote access is enabled.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 2003 standard machine with networking issues. the nic shows that it is connected and it received the correct DHCP ip from the router but i can't ping the router or any other ip on the network.i ran a TCP/IP fix, Winstock Fix, LSP Fix, checked the services that starts up, checked the startup programs, turned the firewall off, checked in advanced settings on the nic if the correct order is there. the funny thing is that in safe mode with networking it works like a charm but not when i boot in to windows normally.If i ping the router it just shows destination host unreachable.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWindows Server 2003, XP and W7 desktops. I have a growing number of user folders that are seemingly in the wrong place. When I am looking at the directories locally on the server, there are some document folders that are directly in the Users folder, rather than existing as subfolders within a user's folder. In fact, the user's folder is not present at all. So rather than Joe Smith's folder structure being 'Users/jsmith/', there are a series of folders under 'Users' that are named 'Documents'. As I click on each one though, I see in the address bar 'Users/jsmith' etc. In the tree, there is no folder named jsmith, but in the address bar there is. And in the address bar, there is no folder named 'Documents'.This seems to be limited to newer users and older users who have Windows 7 PCs, but I don't know for sure if that's the source of the change.
