XP desktop hard wired to router. XP and Vista laptops wireless. Vista has SP1 and both XPs are SP3. All computers can see each other. Vista can access the XP drives. The 2 XP computers can access each other. The 2 XP computers cannot access the VISTA. Access is denied. Firewalls are off on all computers. I have tried permissions on both sharing and security tabs with no luck.
All I want to do is to share a couple of Folders, My Documents and Downloads, between two PC's on a Workgroup network.Networking is not my strongest point but up until now I have managed quite successfully. The setup is :-
1st PC is Mike-Laptoppc is on a Wireless connection to an ADSL+2 router/modem.
2nd PC is a Desktop Alexs-PC connected via cable to the same router/modem
I can share all the shared folders from the Desktop to the Laptop, but I can only share Media streaming on the Desktop from the Laptop, so I know there is a connection between the two computers. I have now turned off Media streaming to concentrate on just folder sharing.Whenever I try to access the Laptop from the Desktop I get an " Access Denied you do not have permission contact your administrator " box on the desktop.
Suddenly Can't access shared folders but others can . Laptop with Vista. Had many Mapped Network Drive issues about 2 months ago. Finally all resolved. Laptop was gone from our shop for about 2 weeks. Now it cannot see the Shared Folders (except for Public and Printers), and could not re-connect the Mapped Drives. Accesses Internet, can Ping the other PCs(all running Win7). Connect thru Wireless.
Why SUDDENLY, there are no shared folders visible on a Laptop?
Notes: This is the 2nd time this has happened. I changed alot of settings the first time. I re-checked all the settings this time.
Update: Magically works today 12-3-12. But what caused it? Why does Vista loose the ability to map network drives, when nothing
changes...I still want to know why for the next time this happens.
I have a vista laptop connected to internet and a desktop running window XP. I want to make the laptop share its internet connection to the XP desktop but I haven't succeeded. The desktop has 3 Ethernet ports with one showing 3 computer connected together(same on the laptop except has 2 ports). I've tried connecting on all the ports but nothing happened. I googled a lot but the results I found always involved the XP having Internet but not the laptop. The computers cannnot even ping each other.
I did this before but both computer ran Windows XP, so I think it has to do with Vista.
My first PC (XP) is attached to a wireless router via an Ethernet cable and my second PC (Vista) is connected to the same router via wireless. I have shared the files on both PC'S and can access the files of the Vista PC from the XP PC but when i try to access the files of the XP PC from the Vista PC i get the following error :
"\Studyoot (C) is not accessible. you might not have permission"
No Network provider accepted the given Network Path.
I have a family member that is having trouble sharing their printer through the network. He has three computers on the network, two Vista laptops and a XP desktop. The printer is connected to the desktop and works fine on the desktop. The desktop is connected to the modem through a router. The problem is with the Vista laptop. He can not see the printer or even access the desktop at all. Both are part of the same work group. I have file and printer sharing allowed through the firewall. I have tried running the network setup wizard and that did not work. I installed the driver for the printer manually on the laptop and did not work. Everything that I know of related to sharing is turned on.What I find strange is Vista can not access XP but XP can access Vista.
0ave a WRT110 that provides the hub between an xp, vista and a windows 7 machine but I can't seem to find a way to share files between them.Mapping a network drive, making sure all permissions are set on all machines Es there something like a service that isn't started that isn't started? and is it not started on all systems. I'm going nuts trying to prepare for the up coming school season so that all my kids can get what they need from their individual bedrooms (no cheating that way).
I have my Windows 7 computer and my daughters computer with Windows Vista networked over a wired home LAN. For the most part, everything seems to work fine. I can access files on her computer, and she can access files from mine (photos, music, video, etc.). I set up a shortcut icons on her desktop for easy access to specific folders I am sharing on my computer. Unfortunately, when I share a folder on my computer, she is unable to view any files added after I initially shared it. So I routinely have to go in and share the folder again. It's not a huge issue, but it is annoying. The limitation seems to be one way, as I can access newly added files on her computer, without resharing.
I bought a gigabit NAS to replace my existing 100Mb NAS. After copying the data and users from the old box to the new (during which both NAS boxes worked fine) I renamed the old one to BACKUP and gave the new one the name of the old, FILE_SERVER.
My system mwill not allow me to turn on the media sharing in the Network and sharing center. I followed the instructions, but It won't allow me to activate it. I tried through the control panel and by right clicking the internet icon.
My Vista can not open/view XP files, though XP can open/view Vista's.My Vista can ping my XP. My XP can ping my Vista. My XP can open/view files on my Vista. But when using my Vista, and I click on the XP computer showing in my Nwtwork to open my XP wireless laptop (Averatec) files, I get the error message (many have seen before):
I turned off all firewalls and all anti-virus software. All computers have the identical Workgroup name. NetBIOS over Tcpip is enabled in the Vista. In "Services" I made sure these items were "Started":
I even tried changing the Registry key:HKEY_LOCAL-MACHINESYSTEM CurrentControlSetControlLsa "restrictanonymous REG_DWORD to 00000000, but regedit wouldn't allow the change.
I changed recently my wireless router (and my ISP) and since then the Network and sharing center lists two networks, both with Local and Internet access. One has the SSID assigned to the router and the other is name "unidentified".All seems to be working fine but i'd like to clean up the mess and remove this undefined thing.I have a vista home premium. The wired NIC is disabled, The wireless is set to dhcp with ipV6 disabled. Am attaching below the ipconfig /all.
I've created a workgroup on windows 7 Laptop to connect with 2 other system, one is PC with win7 and another is laptop with win vista, I've a wirless wi-fi switch. Problem to share file with Windows Vista only, PC with Windows 7 is working well, But Windows vista laptop can't connect with any of two systems...
We have three desktops...2 Macs and a windows vista...my brother has a windows vista laptop, my mum has a Macbook laptop and for Christmas I got a windows 7 laptop! But that's not all that relevant because all I am really interested in is setting up file sharing between my old vista desktop and my new windows 7 laptop, so I can transfer my music, etc across. (I know that I could easily do this by other methods but I want filesharing set up for the future). Both computers are wirelessly connected to a Netgear router.Initially i tried fiddling around with various network settings and I've managed to get the two computers to recognise each other...and they can access the 'public' folder. I tried fiddling with advanced sharing to let them access other folders which appear as shared folders, but when i tried to access them from the other computer i was denied access.
NETWORK CONNECTION PROBLEMPOPUP ERROR states"\<name> is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Access denied."When trying to View the two PCs through My Network Places> View workgroup Computers in MSHOME?I was able to map the shared folder manually.
I have a computer with windows 2003 server installed on it. There is one shared folder. The computer's name is SERVER. The shared folder's name is OFFICE.Whenever I type \SERVEROFFICE in a windows explorer window, I get a pop up window with a message that says that Windows does not find \SERVEROFFICE.I mean, I should be able to see the folder in this way because this OFFICE folder is shared and I am doing this from the same computer and not from another computer in the LAN.
I'm trying to solve a disastrous networking (via workgroup nightmare) and I cannot enable the DNS Client on my Windows 7 PC. I go to cntrl panel, admin services, dns client, and try to change it to automatic and it says "access is denied"
I have enabled Network filtering on MAC address on my D-Link 628 router.
I've noticed entries in the log file - "Access Denied to LAN System with MAC address ______________" for 2 different MAC addresses. I do not recognize these MAC addresses. The entry that immediately follows these messages - "Above message repeated 466 times and 124 times. The entries for these 2 MAC addresses has been occurring multiple times with different repeat numbers over the past few days.
Is this an indication that someone nearby my router is attempting to hack into my wireless router or do I have a configuration issue?
On my desk in my basement I have two computers, one HP Pavilion running Windows 7, and a Dell Precision running Windows Vista. Now I was wondering if it is possible to share the internet received on the HP to the Dell by the ethernet connections?
i m working in a domain environment . for example my domain name is testdomain.com. i create a shared folder on it and give everyone a read control over it. then i create a folder in that shared folder with name of test. i also create a user with name test. i give full control to test user over test folder. now when i access the test folder from network with username test. i can read that folder but when i create the file or folder in the test folder it will show the following error..."unable to create a folder"new folder" access is denied.
your computer could not be joined to the domain because the following error has occured, access denied, this error is happening when i create users for active directory users and computers in windows server 2003,i have 11 computers ,,1 server and 10 clients,,i created 10 users in active directory users and computers ,,until here i have no problem,,but when i want join client computers with server it is happening this error(your computer could not be joined to the domain because the following error has occurred, access denied)i can join 3 client computer with the server in fourth computer it happening that error, what can i do?
Even though I am an Administrator on the server, sometimes I create files or folder on a network drive and when trying to access them later (or immediately in some cases), I am getting an "Access Denied" box.For example, I just created a folder, moved an item into it, then tried to rename the folder and was denied access.
I'm configuring ASA 8.4 for SSLVPN allowing Web Portal access with group-url. I've noticed that if I put certain keywords after slash mark on group-url, client access would be denied by http 404 error.
Here's my configuration:

In my log I have the message: "Access denied to wireless system with MAC address 0020008E971E". When I checked the vendor for this MAC, it shows Lexmark international inc, which fact make me feel something is wrong. My first thought was that somebody trying to break into my net but I am close to accept that the owner of Lexmark WiFi printer without an idea in networking, just tried to connect it to his network and after failing to do that, it's wired and wireless features are still on. But still could this be bug or something? I am posting some logs when I first discovered the problem and after I granted access to the device with the MAC address 0020008E971E. I forgot to tell you, that before I decided to post here I did firmware upgrade from Hardware version A3 1.10 to 1.35NA (I bought it from US) with factory default restore. The result was absolutely the same - the messages kept coming "Access denied to wireless system with MAC address 0020008E971E". So I granted access to that MAC and checked the logs again. There is a line in the log that stated "primary:"
( Home Cisco router WAG160Nv2, Windows Vista)Who is the network administrator on my home network and which device is involved: Windows Vista, Cisco network magic pro ? ; the Cisco router modem with WLAN ?The wireless MAC filter on the modem is disabled. The access is denied to my WLAN and the only one from which I get signals from the neighborhood. My main laptop has access to the network only over the Ethernet, but not over WLAN.My second laptop has access to this network over the Ethernet and WLAN .
I have a EA6500 with a hard drive connected to the USB port. When I try to copy a file to the drive VIA the network folder on my computer it says "Destination Folder Access Denied, You Need Permision To Perform This Action". I used to be able to copy files to the drive so I am sure it is just a setting on the router or something.
I am trying to troubleshoot a problem where in one of my remote site is not able to access some networks at HQ over Site to SIte VPN ( asa 5505 at Remote and 5520 at HQ). I ran packet tracer and HQ ASA looks clean as everything came out as ALLOW. Remote site ASA packet tracer give me DROP out at Phase 9 (VPN). I am not very sure what to look in ASA for resolution now. Is it an access list that is blocking the traffice or VPN setup.
