is it at all possible to lock a 2G/3G-Stick to 2G or 3G with the TL-MR3020 (e.g. if the desired network (2G or 3G) strength is low)? If not, this would be a useful feature for upcoming firmware versions

Possible to use a mobile via the usb connection on a TL-MR3020. The reason being is that my mobile data plan allows unlimited tethering through my phone...yet when I place the sim from the phone in the usb modem I get blocked by the provider stating that the sim can only be used in a mobile phone. Mobile data plans in the UK are very expensive and you get very little for your money.

I'm a court reporter trying to set up a connection between my laptop and my court reporting machine, which has built in wifi capabilities. My court house has public wifi but there is always some interference which causes transmission between my laptop and machine to freeze. I was told I could create my "own wifi" between my machine and laptop if i bought a router. is this possible with this hardware?I don't need the internet or want an internet connection. I have the internal modem in my laptop. I just want to provide a connection between my laptop and writing machine wirelessly. That is, data being sent back and forth between the two. (Like your headset and smartphone connected with Buetooth). I can use the Bluetooth method to connect the two, but I opted for wireless connection because Bluetooth still can have some interference when attorneys come in the courthouse building with a Blackberry smartphone. I heard this router will provide a secured, private wifi connection between my laptop and machine. It doesn't say anywhere in the instructions that how to do this or I just don't know which method to use this router for what I want to do. Is it WISP, AP or BRIDGE, etc...?

Whilst the MR3420 V2 is sold as a 4G usb router, it appears that it does not support many usb 4G devices. In Australia we currently have the Seirra 320u, ZTE MF821 (100Mbps Cat 3) and Huawei E3276 (150Mbps Cat 4)whilst the V2 supports the first two (not the E3276), it has one major failure! It does not work at full 4G speeds.
The V2 does not appear to allow download speeds in excess of 25Mbps or uploads much greater than 2Mbps. This occurs on fast 3G and 4G networks. The throttled speed is apparently due to slow modem protocols deployed in the router. High protocol overheads mean it cannot 'shuffle data' very fast.We have developed working solutions using the Openwork platform that overcome these issues and provides speeds in excess of 70mbps.

I have problem to get pptp working. I setup pptp VPN server on my home router and configured pptp dialup on my laptop. If my laptop connect to internet directly, I am able to connect to home router via PPTP VPN. However, if I connect TL-MR3020 to internet(wired) and then connect my laptop to TL-MR3020 wirelessly, I can browse internet without problem. The problem is I cannot connect to home router via PPTP VPN any more. I believe the problem is on TL-MR3020.

In remote areas, I use Virgin-Mobile's MC760 Broadband2Go antenna to provide Broadband to my netbook. This ISP service requires that you "sign in" with username and password to initialize the BB transmission. I would like to use my TL-MR3020 to host the Virgin-Mobile's Broadband2Go MC760 antenna to provide a wireless hotspot, instead of the hardwired direct-computer connection I have. I've gone thru the MR3020 quick setup with the MC760 but been unable to get it to connect. The 3020 is putting out the wireless signal...it's just not connected to my Virgin-Mobiles BB service...thus no www internet tie. how to use the MR3020 with Virgin-Mobile's MC760 (3G/4G) Broadband2Go antenna?

I bought this device yesterday, I am using this device with BSNL's EVDO (cdma network). It detects my modem fine, and it connects fine, and I can browse.Exactly at 50th min(few seconds difference), my net gets disconnected.I have tried all modes, connect manually, automatically, on demand -- nothing solves the concern.Changed idle timeout to 0.The device when connected directly works fine for more than 12 hours.Updated firmware to the latest 3.14.2 Build 120817 Rel.55520n.Tried Resetting the Router to factory defaults and configured again.Tried all troubleshooting steps from FAQ as in change it to WEP security, connect manually, idle timeout setting. Most importantly, tried creating a BIN file using USB sniffer and used it, even then its the same issue.

when visiting Switzerland and Italy with my German SIM card I noticed that roaming is not working very good with the TL-MR3020. The reason is that the internet provider needs to be set in the config, in my case to o2 Germany. When I travel with this SIM card to another country, I roam into other networks. As I cannot what provider is currently active (as o2 has contracts with almost every provider outside Germany) and even if I could see it I have to adjust the settings in the config if anything changes, the satisfaction effect on this trip was not very good.
Also I noticed that sometimes (only sometimes) the setting resetted itself to o2 Germany when unplugging the device, this added some extra negative satisfaction to everything. In my understanding the router should have an auto detection for the currently active network and auto setup for the dialin parameters and everything else. Like every smartphone on the planet. Maybe you can also add a setting where you can enable or disable data roaming to save people money if they do not have a international data option booked.
I'm using a 3020 to bridge 3/4G to the ethernet port on my computer. Things work fine until I also join wireless hosts (like an iPhone or iPad). The routing of traffic to both the ethernet and wireless hosts seems to cause the 3/4G router to lose the signal and disconnect all hosts. I'm using a Verizon LG USB wifi device that is on the compatible list of 3/4G devices. I'm using the latest version of the firmware on the 3020 (I believe the date is Sep 2012).

I have recently purchased the portable TP link 3020 which is a great solution for me in order to get wifi for multiple users till I get through the long process of getting ADSL in Turkey. The thing is that the 3G bundle Turkcell provided me with is not identified by the modem, so I looked it up on the internet and I found out that I needed to add the bin of the bundle, I searched within the list published on TPLINK website but without any luck.... finally I found the bin I was looking for in another country list... mine is Huawei E353 and the one I found is Huawei E353s2. Anyway I added the bin and still not luck identifying the bundle, I finally resorted to upgrade the firmware which I hate because I always worry of the bad consequence of failure, and unfortunately I was right! Once I upgraded the firmware, I couldn't get connected to the router, it keeps asking me for the key, but without any success! I tried hardware reset by holding the WPS button for 5 seconds as suggested in the manual, but any further success!
set up my router. Trying to set up my 3G modem with TP-Link MR3020.
Tried troubleshooting to find out where it went wrong and just couldn't figure out. Just tried disabling the wireless security and *poof* I'm able to connect to the Internet. Right after setting up the Network Key, I can't connect to the Intertnet via my router.
Here are the datas.

I have a network that has an Netgear ADSL 2 wireless router.Everything on this network has run perfectly for long now. In fact everything is still perfect for all the machines except for 1 macbook laptop.I can connect and transfer files between all machines on the network Machines on network:
2 x Windows desktop PC's (hardwired), 1 x MacbookPro (OSX) (Airport) 1 x Macbook (OSX) (Airport) This is the one in question here.
I can browse the internet with all these machines as well.Well to my astonishment after 3 days of non stop trying, the one laptop can only browse sites that are on servers that are physically/geographically in South Africa. It wont connect to .com, .net or .co.za domains that are hosted elsewhere with on the globe. In SA there are some ISP's that give "local surfing" free after the accounts cap has been reached. This is not the case here cause the other machines connect anywhere using the same isp/router settings from the same network.
I've been playing with the OpenWRT Attitude Adjustment trunk on my TL-MR3020 lately, and since I'm modifying some of the included packages that get installed via feeds, I need to reflash the firmware a lot. And the problem here is that it's very time consuming. I'd like to optimize this process as much as possible, and the first optimization I can come up with is precluding any need for network reconfiguration after reflashing.
Currently, after I use mtd to reflash my firmware, I have to log in via the serial console and modify /etc/config/network to put the router on the right subnet, and to specify the gateway and dns. It sure would make a lot of sense if I could have this happen automatically every time.
I'm very new to Linux, so my first thought was to have a shell script run that edits /etc/config/wireless/ and then does a /etc/init.d/network restart to bring up the network interface(s). Then I thought that there must be a command-line equivalent to setting the gateway and dns, and then I could follow those commands up with /etc/init.d/network restart.

I have a BSNL BB connection. When I use the connection directly, without adding TP Link router, all the websites open flawlessly. Once when I connect the wireless router, certain websites for example Yahoomail, pepperfry.com, yepme.com don't open at all. These are just examples, but I'm unable to access many sites which is a bit annoying. But sites such as gmail, youtube, facebook open clean, there are no issues. I didn't make any configuration changes too. I tried it more than three or four times, but there is a restricted access only.
I have a TP-Link (TL-WR941ND) wireless router in my living room and I want to expand my connectivity to get to the bedrooms area. I have a D-link (DI-524)wireless G router I want to take advantage of. How can I connect the two routers (no cables to be used) together so I can have acces to the internet from my room?
I have a buddy who owns a bar and wants to install a insecure wireless router for his customers downstream from his SBC Global ATT Modem/Wireless Router combo.
He says has 3 static ips for the modem, and 1 of the network cables coming from the modem directly into the D-Link Router. I first attempted to just plug it into the uplink, and let DCHP do its magic, but I had no luck with that. I could connect to the router but it didn't have internet.
So I restarted the downstream router, and plugged the network cable into the 1st port, and suddenly I had internet on the wireless but it would constantly go up and down, and ping times were extreme erratic.
I have a weird problem. I bought recently a new router, and when I try to connect to the settings on it on http://198.168.0.1 it sometimes works, mostly doesn't. When I ping other devices which are connected it, it's the same; sometimes get a response, mostly I don't. The router model is: TP-LINK 150Mbps Wireless N Router TL-WR740N, The thing which it's connected to is entitled "ADSL2+ Ethernet bridge router" That aforementioned thing is suppoused to be a modem. But, when I try to connect to its settings from http://10.0.0.138 , I'm able to, and other who are connected to the network give response to a ping.

I am having problems with my TL-MR3420 router, it disconnects WIFI all the time. My ZTE MF 631 dongle gives me a strong signal and stable connection and rarely loses connecton when plugged directly into my laptop. With my MR-3420 V2 losses connection, duration only lasts for about 2 to 3 minutes. I have to power off/on the router and turn off/on the wireless button on the laptop to restore connection or manually disconnect in the web interface of MR -3420 and reconnect.
Even i tried the changing channel bandwidth and channel, still no luck. Router settings is pretty much default, expect security key. I have quite recently upgraded to the latest firmware but the problem seem not to have been resolved.
I am wondering if there is a way to limit traffic through the router. The problem is that one person downloads something, they hog up all the bandwidth, and end up creating lag on other people that may be gaming. So I am wondering if there is a way to limit traffic to 500kb/s per connection..(wired or wireless).. I have a DIR-815 D-link router, and have looked through the settings but I don't see anything off hand that might be related but I could have missed something.
