View 1 Repliesnyway, I've had an internet connection set up at my house for quite some time, and recently I have noticed that my online games have begun to lag. And I know it is not due to my hardware, it is online-lag, like jumping, and almost teleporting to places. I play games like Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142, Battlefield 2: Project Reality, and more.I have a 10mbps download and 1mbps upload, so that is an optimum speed for playing games like this, I know. And the connection is split between 3 computers in my home. (1 desktop and 2 laptops, all connecting wirelessely)I have all the modem, and router set up properly.. I just don't understand why I am having this lagging problem. If someone could explain it to me,

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy computer has started acting really weird. My internet connection is fine except when I try to play a game online I'll be on for a few seconds and then the connection shuts down. Not just for the game but for everything. When I used windows troubleshoot it had these errors."the connection between your access point router or cable modem and the internet is broken default gateway is not available: detected" and"the default gateway is not available:fixed"After I do that I have a connection again but the same thing happens when I play another game.I have tried updating my drivers, scanning for malware of all sorts, registry cleaning, and I even reformatted.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using a Sierra wireless 4g aircard for internet access, the ISP is Clearwire. Normally it works fine with no problems, but a few days ago I started getting a connectivity issue. When playing games, even games that don't use the internet connection at all, and ONLY playing games (it's fine as I type this, I'm even dling something in the background), the connection will be lost, and the thing will immediately reaquire the signal and reconnect, the whole process takes like 20 seconds. The result is it's impossible to play games, I get 10k ms lag spikes every couple minutes that last for about 30 seconds, and if I'm playing most server based games (Steam Source games) I just get disconnected outright.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy internet connection keeps freezing when I'm trying to play Diablo 3. I can't connect directly to the modem because it's my roommates internet and it's connected to her computer so my only option is wireless or to connect directly via adapter that goes through the power outlets in the house. It's getting very annoying skipping around and it's almost impossible to play diablo 3 with this lag. I notice I drop a lot of packets when pinging to the diablo 3 server and I don't know why.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got a new router, a Cisco Linksys EA3500, and everything works fine and no one else in my family notices anything. Everything works and I don't have trouble accessing the internet and I always get 5 bars, but whenever I play a game online it will disconnect me after a while. Sometimes it disconnects me after 5 minutes and sometimes after 30 minutes. The only games I play are Arma 2 and Garry's mod and I have the same problem with both games. The weird thing is that I talk to friends on steam when we are playing and it doesn't get disconnected I can hear them fine, and my internet access bar at the lower right doesn't say I'm disconnected. Streaming and downloading work as well. I have no idea what to do, we got a new router because the old one was faulty and we called our isp and they said there was nothing wrong on their end it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently replaced my router with this Belkin (F5D7230uk4) Router, (this one without the wireless reciever Whenever it's used for online gaming, either on my computer, my playstation 3, or my brothers computer the router will lose connection after about 5minutes, then return within about 30 seconds. This happens every single time without exception, and have not been able to play for longer than 10minutes on any occasion since changing the router. I've tried connecting straight to the modem and it all functions correctly with no problems, so I am certain that it is something that needs to be setup with the router. I've searched many forums and posts from people having similar problems, and followed instructions to disable router firewall, disabled UPnP and NAT etc with absolutely no success whatsoever.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI restored the computer to factory defaults to have a fresh start. I downloaded some games and this is when I realized my problem. The first instance of the problem was when I was playing a game called "League of Legends". About ten minutes through the game, the game would freeze. It isn't a computer freeze because I could still move the mouse and see people walking in place. I was then disconnected. The second instance was when I was playing a game called "Dragon Nest". I would run through a dungeon and after a short-while everything would start to move in placeI could still move freely but whenever I tried to hit something the hits wouldn't register. After about 30 seconds everything went back to normal and a lot of monsters died and I was hurt. I tested my computers download and upload speed to see if anything was different from my family desktop. My download speed on the laptop is 5 mbps, and the one on the desktop is 26 mbps. The desktop is directly hooked up to the modem, and the laptop is wireless (I don't know if this would be the reason for the difference in speed, and or disconnection/lag issues.) I have also noticed that videos on YouTube load A LOT slower than on my desktop. I finally gave up and tried to use my desktop but I seem to have disconnected from Dragon Nest on there as well (except this time it automatically disconnected me, it didn't have a pause in the game.

I did it and restarted my PC. Then, ever since, servers for games have been acting up. For 3 minutes at the most, it goes fine, then disconnects everyone and lets them back on. Its for Minecraft, a java game. Its not the software. I've tried different softwares for the server.

I have ports forwarded for the games I play and even when connecting straight to the modem I get lag. I called my ISP 5 times now and each time they tell me it is a local problem on my end. View 19 Replies View RelatedProblems connecting to different online services and an online game.Examples:
1.) "Connection timed out" in Teamspeak 2. (debug log not really yielding much useful information).
2.) Torchlight 2 reported "Connection failed - Firewall errors detected."
almost all other online applications work just fine (including voice over ip and games)What I've tried (without any success):
1.) I could connect in either case using my old laptop! Thus it works on a different computer, from the same network, at the same/similar time. Thus I concluded it must be somehow related to this laptop (its a new laptop).
2.) The TS2 server & entered information is 100% working, same applies to torchlight2 - also latest updates installed and of course the game is totally legal.
3.) Windows firewall: all the mentioned programs are on the allowed list. Also check whether its correctly set to "home network". Futhermore I also tried disabling the windows firewall entirely.
4.) No other firewall program in use.
5.) Check all programs I know of which might be related to network traffic (e.g. Qualcomm Atheros Killer Network Manager - disabled it).
6.) Tried both, wireless and ethernet cable connection.
7.) Tried all common solutions from similar problems from the forums of the affected programs (e.g. teamspeak2 and torchlight 2 forums).
8.) I even tried running the game, torchlight 2, via Tunngle (explained in a layman's words: a program that simulates Lan over the internet).
Its a new laptop. Network card is labled as "Killer e2200 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller.Runs Windows 7 and did start out empty: i.e. I installed every single program running on the machine and as far as I know none of them should have anything to do with network. Virus scanner is the lastest version of AVG free (no firewall included).
Recently, I've been having some problems trying to play a couple games coded in Java, such as MineCraft. Every time the game loads, my internet immediately disconnects. There isn't any error dialogue or message, it simply disconnects me.Sometimes, I am able to stay on my internet connection and play the game for a short while, but most of the time, it disconnects me. I am on a wireless connection, with a router running the custom DD-WRT firmware.

- The Problem persists on multiple differnt computers with differnt OS and anti viruses
- I've forwarded all the necessary ports
- I've updated all the routers firmware
- I've adjusted my networking card
- I've power cycled the router many times
I am having the same exact problem with the random freezing. I used to be sponsored on Xbox 360 for call of duty black ops and my mom met this guy and i had to move into his house, So now i had to drop my sponsorship and everything because i randomly freeze for about 3 seconds and then unfreeze and i jump forward and catch up to what apparently i was doing but not doing on my screen. It even happens on world of warcraft on my computer and it is very aggravating to have to deal with. And just like Cassius is saying "the ping spikes ruin online gaming entirely and tbh."

I have a button on my keyboard that turns my wireless on and off like many laptops do, and when playing these games after a couple minutes it will be turned off and I need to restart my computer to be able to get my wireless working again. This must be a problem with my computer and not the internet itself because I'm on campus and I see many other people playing games here.

windows update did its thing but as soon as it finished downloading and started installing my AVG anti-virus pop'd up requesting to move some files to "the vault", when that happened windows finished installing and asked my computer to restart, after it restarted i tried to go on AIM and Ventrilo (aka Vent), here's i knew something was wrong, I couldn't sign in to AIM all it said was "waiting for Network..." and Vent just simply said "unknown last ip address" I went to command prompt > ipconfig where it said connection-specific dns suffix it was blank, for ip address it still showed my ip same for subnet mask there was still some numbers but, for default gateway it was blank, thinking it must had something to do with the drivers window installed I did a system restore to two days ago, after it rebooted I thought I fixed it, I was able to sign on AIM as well as Vent even able to use google chrome and watch a friend stream on live on twitch tv, so calling it a night I shut down my PC and when to sleep, now to the title, woke up turned on PC got on AIM and Vent perfectly tried to play Maplestory (don't judge XD i grew up with that game) but it said I had to download the game, made sense to me I just got the game a last night but just did a system restore to 2 days before so I started downloading the game it would work for a few moments but then my internet would die and the same problem that I described would happen again, and the only way i could get my internet to work on my PC was to restart the computer?
I download drivers from Nvidia website it self so i did and it said my motherboard drivers were out of date, I downloaded the drivers and installed them, the Nvidia guid said it would uninstall the old drivers and restart the computer and install new drivers but, when the computer restarted it said something about there were other wizerd installings ? and press okay to minimize the prosses so I can close those, I tried but it did some kind of loop saying again that it would unistall and install after restarting and again like last time said there were other programs running, this time i clicked exit, I went back to Nvidia site to see if the drivers for the motherboard installed, the versions matched but the site did state "your drivers are up to date" like it normally would just asked if I wanted to down load the driver as if my motherboard was still out of date?

I have Planet modem ade-4400 linked to a Digitus ethernet Dn 5001a that I use to connect my 2nd PC.The problem is that everytime, both PCs are connected I constantly get lag spikes while playing games. Also, seemingly on random occasions, no matter what programs I run in the background my connection gets disabled with a yellow exclamation mark over my network icon. I get a "The default gateway is not available" error once I troubleshoot, and the connection works fine afterwards.
However, recently after I updated the windows I think, I get another error that says "The connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the Internet is broken" along with the gateway one. Also, recently, I started having lag spikes regardless of the other computer being connected to mine after the error, and once I turn on my pc. Could it be somehow related to Microsoft security essentials? Since I've installed it at about the same time when the lag-after-the-error started happening.
Error seems to happen more often when I watch something on the internet, or when I quickly browse through the web-pages, or when I'm downloading something. I'm using Windows 7, and another thing to note is that the other computer DOES NOT receive these kinds of errors, and I do believe it does not lag while playing games. The lag after the error and after I start up my pc goes away after some time.
