View 1 RepliesThe company I work for has a small network and it has a windows 2000 server. When the Canon iRC 2880 printer is connected the server gives a error saying that a duplicate name exits in the network. I tried changing the IP address as well. When I changed the IP address of the printer the duplicate IP address moved the new IP address.
View 10 Replies View RelatedEveryday a few of the computer will error with "A duplicate name exists on the network:" A quick Google search shows the same answer EVERYWHERE on the internet. So I changed the names of a few of the computers too something I knew was unique. Still though the problem persists/ it afters the two XP bases computers the most, but my main workstations (windows 7 sp1) has had this error a few times, although it appears to have left for a while. I have a feenas server but Active directory is not turned on.My router is a e4200. I was using DHCP server on there (and would very much still like to) although I have turning it off, rebooted both the router and the computers but to no avail.

The maximum number of APs is still showing as 5 and in fact I cannot add more that 5 APs. I tried installing the license file again, but now I get a "duplicate" error.

I have just moved to the 3750X switch and have connected it to a 6509E. From the beginning I was having OSPF encryption errors, followed by flood warnings, LSA issue's, duplicate IP's which is baffling me.
There are no IP's which match on either switch however the 3750X was continually power recycling causing the interfaces drop continually.Even after disconnecting from the 6509 the 3750X continue to behave in the same manner. Could there be some issue with this switch?
I've run in to this on 3750G's in a various sized stacks. We apply port security for a mac address on a single port (not existing on more than one port - that's a different issue that appears in multiple posts already). In this case:
1) We do a 'sho mac address-table and see that the device with the mac address in question lives on one port, port 1/0/x.
2) We apply mac port security for this exact same mac address to the same port it is already attached to. switch(config)#int g2/0/2 switch(config-if)#switchport port-security mac-address 001a.1ec8.abcd
3) Get this error: 'Found duplicate mac-address 001a.1ec8.abcd'.We again confirm that that is the only port on the entire switch that has this mac-address.Try the command again, same error.
4) We do a bunch of show commands, get in and out of the switch, go back and then try it again, and now it works, same command, same port and same mac address.
-Aging is default 300
-These are Cisco wireless AP's attached to the switch
-This occurs on different switches with different ports using different mac addresses, always same symptoms.

I have created several VLAN's and ACL's for each VLAN controlling their access to each other. After the initial setup, I have started trying to create more VLAN ACL rules to allow more access between the VLAN's. The problem I keep running in to is that when I go to modify the ACE's in the ACL, I keep getting the error message "Entry already exists". For example, I go to modify the port ranges to tighten them up, and try to save the ACE after modifying it, and I get that error message.

First here is our network breakdown
8 Windows 2008 Servers - UN effected
5 Windows 2003 Servers - effected with dupe IP's
We have AP - A, B and C all configured static and outside of our DHCP scope
A - 104.240
B - 104.241
C - 104.242
WAP A is setup to allow the Mac's of A and B to repeat its signal. The issue starts about 1-2 minutes after I set B and C to client/repeater and select A in site survey then save the settings. Obviously its weird that only our 2003 servers are getting this error.
The system detected an address conflict for IP address 192.168.105.201 with the system having network hardware address *MAC ADDRESS OF ROUTER A*. Network operations on this system may be disrupted as a result.
I am having some question around Prime Infrastructure..Does a general document exists regarding the licensing count of monitored devices ? Indeed I am wondering about the specific points. Is it true that :
- A 3750 stack unit count as one (for example a 4 units stack consumes 4 license) ?
- A WLC (except 5500) does not consume a license but only the Lightweight APs.
- An autonomous AP does not consumes a Lifecycle licence ?
I have a big problem with my Cisco 1841 and the WIC-1AM-V2 in Slot 0.I got the task, to test if it is possible, to build up a connection (Dial on Demand Routing) to a remote modem, which is connected to a console port of another Cisco 1841, with the integrated modem card over POTS from the CLI of the router. My router will only dial out to the remote modems and only if its needed.I am connected to the router with the integrated modem card over a console cable on the console port. The remote modem is also connected to the console port of the remote Cisco 1841.
I found out, with my Dialer Profile configuration, it is possible to build up a connection. I configured a dialer list, that specifies that all ip traffic is permitted an interesting for my dialer interface. So a telnet or ping brings up my dialer, which brings up my Async interface. With the "show line" command, I can see that the TTY line, connected with the Async0/0/0 Interface is in use for 5 minutes, because of the "exec-timeout 5 0", which is configured on the remote router. Now the problem is, in this 5 minutes, I can not use a remote telnet on this line with my loopback interface, because the line is already in use and I get a "connection refused". The first telnet I use runs in a timeout, because the remote host is not responding. When I dial out directly from the modem card and not from the CLI with the AT-commands, I get also the connection and with a return i get the login prompt. I will post my actual config, so that you can see maybe a mistake I did or which command I must use, to get a working connection. [code]
I have multiple wireless access points plugged into a 3560X. When the wireless clients begin roaming they cause duplicate MAC enteries to be created and this causes the switch ports to flap. Is there a way to configure the switch to either ignore the duplicate MAC enteries on the switchports that have been connected to the APs or is there a way to have the ARP tables update and resolve the conflicting MAC enteries with out causing the switchport to flap?

I drove last night to my mother's house and proceeded to connect to her own wifi router wirelessly. Although my sister's computer that's on windows 7 connects ably, and both our iPhones connect, my computer will not. My computer finds the network( it is unsecured without a password if that makes a difference ) connects, receives an ipv4 address in ipconfig, yet does not obtain Internet access. It labels the network as an "unidentified network".

When this happens, the lan speed drops to 1.0 mbps and I get the "No Data Received" error when I try to load pages. My internet is on fine and my brother can access the internet fine on a desktop which is wired to the router and modem. My mom's notebook sometimes gets this error as well.
Is there any real solution for this problem or known compatibility problems between my WRT54G (version 1.1 I think) and Windows 7? Really need a solution to this, before I had to re-setup my whole connection, I didn't get such a problem. My laptop doesn't get the error in the school network either.

I'm seeing a TON of traffic in my ASA logs (via ASDM) indicating the following:"Duplicate TCP SYN from inside: (valid internal address of one of our laptops)/50164 to inside: (address on our other subnet, still trying to trace it)/9100 with different initial sequence number"This looks like an attack to me, likely someone's downloaded something they shouldn't have and got an infected laptop. Why it's trying to "call home" to something inside our network is what puzzles me, though. Is there any VALID reason I would see these sort of messages in my log?
