Cisco Wireless :: 3560X / Duplicate MAC Entries Causing Port Flapping?

May 8, 2012

I have multiple wireless access points plugged into a 3560X.  When the wireless clients begin roaming they cause duplicate MAC enteries to be created and this causes the switch ports to flap.  Is there a way to configure the switch to either ignore the duplicate MAC enteries on the switchports that have been connected to the APs or is there a way to have the ARP tables update and resolve the conflicting MAC enteries with out causing the switchport to flap?

Cisco Wireless :: 5508 / WLC Port Channel Host Flapping

Oct 9, 2011

I have setup LAG for one of our 5508 controllers and have connected 4 of the 8 ethernet ports to a 4507 switch. After configuring 2 port channels on the switch we are receiving a host flapping error between the port channels and it seems to be causing a serious slowdown on the switch. When I shutdown one of the port channels the error goes away and traffic returns to normal. I have the same configuration at other locations with the only difference being the switches used are 3750G-12S and I do not see the host flapping error. It appears to only be a problem with modular switches.

One other thing of note: I read a Cisco white paper on LAG and it suggested creating the port channels over 2 different modules. For example, put ports G4/24 and G5/24 in port channel 1 and G4/25 and G5/25 in port channel 2. I tried this but I still got the host flapping error.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: WS-6148A - Port Flapping Due To MTU Mismatch?

Jun 4, 2012

We have some legacy Cisco 6513 switches with the backbone (16-port GBIC blade) MTU set to 1500.  It has a WS-X6148A-GE-TX blade as well, MTU set to 9K.

Now we have a customer sending MTU of 1546, their copper interface terminating on WS-6148A keeps flapping.  Does the flapping have something to do with the backbone set to 1500?  We cant set the backbone to 9K at this moment since it may be intrusive (reuire a reboot).

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 6509 Vlan Flapping Between Port-channels

Mar 10, 2012

We have a pair Cisco 6509 switch in which 2 * 48 Port 1G line cards and 1 * 16 Port 10G line Card, FWSM and Sup 720 are installed. We have Cisco UCS and HP Blade servers.Cisco UCS servers are connected to Cisco 6509 switch using Fabric Interconnect, and HP Servers are directly connected to core switches.Recently the team made many changes in the network. Upgraded the IOS in Cisco 6509 switch, Configured Port profiling , MAC Pinning , HBA Cards to UCS / Nexus 1000V Infrastructure. After this change they lost the connectivity to UCS and HP Serers. Every tower is checking at their end.

The Network Team has reverted back the core switch with old IOS , but still the problem persisit.I could only see the following error log in the core switch. There are two port-channels one between core 1 and core 2. The other is between core switch and FWSM module. [code]

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 6509E Port-channel Flapping When Two More Links Are Added?

Sep 11, 2012

I have two Core 6509E SUP2T configued as VSS and has two 48 ports fiber blades. I have two 3750s, I have two gig on each 3750 port-channle to po1 and connected to both the core, one link to each core. Now, I was asked ot add two more links on each 3750 switch to make it a total of 4 gigs on each 3750s (all 4 gig ports/uplinks will be in used an dtwo links to core one an dtwo links to core 2).when i added two additional links on 3750s and bundled them to po1, I created another port channel on core and bundeled the additional two gigs on each core to accomodate for the two additional links (ports on core switches are not consequtives).

adding these two additional ports makes the 3750 switches flap between managemnet vlan and po1.now, i am not sure if I must have added the two additional links on the core to teh current port-channel or core!? I have created another port-channel on core to accomodate for this currently!?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 6513 / Port-channel Down But Duplicate Interface Created With (A) Up?

Nov 12, 2012

I have created 5 new 2 Gig port channels on a 6513 WS-X6516A-GBIC blade connecting to 5 4510R+E switches. 3 of the 5 Port-channels show up/up. 2 show down/down. However, for the 2 showing down, a duplicate Po interface was created with an "A" appended to the name that shows up/up. E.g:

Port-channel26             unassigned      YES unset  down                  down
Port-channel26A            unassigned      YES unset  up                    up

Each of the 4510s has a second 2Gig PO to another 6513 with an identical config and all of those come up fine.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750G Found Duplicate Mac-address Error / Not On More Than 1 Port

May 11, 2010

I've run in to this on 3750G's in a various sized stacks. We apply port security for a mac address on a single port (not existing on more than one port - that's  a different issue that appears in multiple posts already). In this case:

1) We do a 'sho mac address-table and see that the device with the mac address in question lives on one port, port 1/0/x.

2) We apply mac port security for this exact same mac address to the same port it is already attached to. switch(config)#int g2/0/2 switch(config-if)#switchport  port-security mac-address 001a.1ec8.abcd

3) Get this error: 'Found duplicate mac-address 001a.1ec8.abcd'.We again confirm that that is the only port on the entire switch that has this mac-address.Try the command again, same error.

4) We do a bunch of show commands, get in and out of the switch, go back and then try it again, and now it works, same command, same port and same mac address.

-Aging is default 300
-These are Cisco wireless AP's attached to the switch
-This occurs on different switches with different ports using different mac addresses, always same symptoms.

And i think WLC uses one mac address for all device and not for port specific and that causes problem.

5 Windows 2003 Servers - effected with dupe IP's

We have AP - A, B and C all configured static and outside of our DHCP scope

A - 104.240
B - 104.241
C - 104.242

WAP A is setup to allow the Mac's of A and B to repeat its signal. The issue starts about 1-2 minutes after I set B and C to client/repeater and select A in site survey then save the settings.  Obviously its weird that only our 2003 servers are getting this error.

The system detected an address conflict for IP address 192.168.105.201 with the system having network hardware address *MAC ADDRESS OF ROUTER A*. Network operations on this system may be disrupted as a result.

Cisco Wireless :: Etherchannels Flapping / Stacked 3750 To WLC5508?

Feb 18, 2013

We're running two 5508 WLCs running 7.0.235.3 pushing out 7 WLANs.  They are both live.  Each WLC is connected to the same stack of 3750G running 12.2(44)SE6 via Etherchannels.I'm getting tons of MAC flapping errors similar to this:9373213: Feb 19 10:53:54.564 CST: %SW_MATM-4-MACFLAP_NOTIF: Host 843a.4b3c.4cec in vlan 752 is flapping between port Po12 and port Po11Each portchannel consists of ports on each of the two switches in the 3750 stack.  Only VLAN 752 shows the flapping activity. LAG is enabled on the each of the WLCs.  The portchannel and interface configs are identical, minus the channel-group command of course.Maybe completely unrelated....looking at CDP neighbors from the switch is incorrect:

WLC1             Gig 2/0/44        157            H       AIR-CT550 Gig 0/0/1
WLC1             Gig 1/0/21        157            H       AIR-CT550 Gig 0/0/2

Linksys Wireless Router :: Resolving DNS Entries With WRT160N V2

Dec 1, 2008

Having trouble with resolving DNS entries with their WRT160Nv2? By resolving I mean, every once in a while, it browsers will just hang and say "Looking up..."  When using nslookup, it says DNS timeout. DNS request timed out timeout was x seconds. Can't find server name for address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: Timed out Default servers are not available Default Server: UnKnown Address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

I have the firmware 2.0.02_11 installed.  Hooking directly up to the modem, I can resolve entries consistently.  When I plug in the router, it works for a little, but becomes very unstable after some time.  I spoke with support about this and they suggested changing the IP of the router, as well as lowering the MTU to 1400.  Both did not improve stability.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Samsung BD-D5300 Blu-ray Causing IP Conflicts

Oct 18, 2011

I just bought a Samsung BD-D5300 Blu-ray player that allows a bunch of networking options including wireless and wired. I was using the wired option when I came across some conflicts with my network using a Linksys WRT350N v1. The Samsung conflicted with the Linksys's DHCP server. The blu-ray player turns off automatically when inactive. It was causing conflicts with my iPad 2, MacBook Pro and Motorola Atrix android phone whenever it got assigned an IP address. When I reset the router and my cable modem, it wasn't assigned an address for awhile, which fixed things, but as soon as it got an address again, it was caused conflicts by being seen as a LAN by my router. When it wasn't receiving an address, it got the automatic private IP address of 169.x.x.x. When I removed the connection with my router, the conflicts disappeared and my computers were able to access my wifi again.
