May 22, 2012
We have two catalyst 3560X 24T-S switches connected on two separate LANs (both the networks are redundant to each other). The last port of the switches are connected together?

if a connect to the switch via Internet Explorer or every other browser I can't enter configuration because I receive a screen as you can view in image below. And I can view those errors:

If I connect in HTTPS with IE8 in compatibility mode I view the image as in attachment with_https.jpg.

I'm trying to upgrade some of the netwotk in my workplace. To do this I have istalled a 24port Catalyst 3560X switch.I'm looking to link it to my exsisting network via fibre.
I spoke to a local Cisco supplyer who recomended the above switch and an Allied Telesis Media converter.
I cannot seem to get the Allied Telesis unit to connect to the cisco switch.I have proved the fibre link by connecting 2 AT Media converters over the fibre.Do I have to enable something on the Catalyst switch or is the AT Media converter not compatible with the Catalyst switch?

We recently upgraded the switch to which an old security device was connected. It worked fine on the old switch's FastEthernet port, which was configured for speed 10 and duplex half, as that is what the device required. The new switch is a 3560X with all Gigabit ports, but the security device's port, also configured with speed 10 and duplex half, does not connect properly. As a temporary test, we daisychained another switch that has FastEthernet ports, and the security device works again. Is there anything else that needs to be added to the configuration, when using Gigabit ports at 10/half?

I've just installed 2 of these in my workplace on a PLC network.I'm now looking to set one of the ports up as my diagnostic port and would like to be able to mirror any of the other ports to this port.I believe it is called SPAN on Cisco switches. The only reference I can find to it is configuring via Telnet which I haven't got a clue about. On my old Wiedmuller switches it was just a few clicks away.

On 45XX catalyst , bandwidth is allocated across six 8-port groups, providing 1 Gbps per port group. Example for the following line card : WS-X4448-GB-SFP
I want to know if there is the same mecanism on 3750X switches. I mean is bandwidth allocated across a group of ports like on 4500 catalyst ?

We are using catalyst 2960S Lan Base IOS on Radio towers. We just bought 50 Accest points, thas are GPS synchronized. Problem is the APs need to be connected on L2-mac betwen each other. But at this time we are using port isolation on each switch (tower) by protected port function to isolate clients from each other.
My question is, is possible to specifi a Mac addresses in specific vlan thats can comunicate betwen protected ports? On tower is one Master unit and others are slave. I thing there is only 1 dirrection comunication - from master to slave.

and i see output "show interface Po4A" up up on switch-1, "show interface Po4B" up up on switch-2
5.- In the show running-config not appear configured Po4A and Po4B. it only show on outputs
6.- Po4A and Po4 was not configured on neither switches, my question is why appear Po4A and Po4B on switch-1 and switch-2 respectively? and why Po4 appear in down down.
7.- I solved this issue by shutdown and not shutdown to the interfaces on both routers, currently all is OK.

I have connected a 10BaseT device to a CISCO Catalyst 3560xPOE switch with dynamic port security. All seems to work fine when the distance between the two devices is closer then 200ft. When I connect to 10BaseT devices farther out near 300ft the response from the attached device is lost. It works ok on unmanaged switches at the longer distance. Is there a minimum response time from attached devices for dynamic port security to work properly? Is there any other explanation why it would work on cheaper switches, but not on the Port Secured Switch?

In the newer switch I have a 1000BaseSX SFP min gbic with a SC-LC fiber cable attached (8.3/125 – 15 meter. When I make the connections, I get no lights… no connection.

I have made a routed port on 3560G Switch and defined a pool 172.28.4.62 255.255.255.192 and connected to E1 converter RAD (4E1 to 4 FE) the E1 media is through Microwave on the other end same E1 converter is connected through layer 2 switch and defined a pool as of routed port configured in 3560G switch.
The port is generating lot of giants and after a while it also distrubs other routes ( Port1 to Port 16), configured with Vlan11 and port 22 as routed port.I have checked the routed port through wireshark the maximum frame size is 1514 and configured the MTU to 1514, giants are not showing any more but after 10 to 12 hours switch gets hang. Either to shut the port or to reload the switch to get switch and other layer routes to be normal.
I have checked speed and duplex settings same as E1 converter. Full duplex. 100 Speed. Why switch is not behaving normal. If I shutdown the routed port it is normal.
1. interface GigabitEthernet0/22
no switchport
ip address 172.28.4.62 255.255.255.192
flowcontrol receive on
end

Any method of forcing a non connected switch port LED to blink for a certain number of times regardless if there is anything connected. The purpose of this is we have remote 3750 switch stacks and quite often have to tell non technical staff to patch to a certain port. It would be much easier if we could say "Connect it to the empty port which just started blinking orange" as the port numbers are difficult for them to see in these locations.A similar feature is available in the ethtool package for linux which makes it really easy for identifying ports on servers. It would be great if a similar feature is available on Cisco switches.

show cdp neighbors command shows two devices connected through the same local port?I have a Cisco 3560 that when I issue the "show cdp neighbors" command I get the following results: [code]
the question is why is this showing that Gig0/3 is being used twice to connect to two different devices. I have verified there is no hub connected to this port and in fact Switch3 is not connected to Switch1 at all yet it still shows up in the CDP table.
I have cleared the CDP table on every device at this location and still get the same results.

One of the ports on the 3750 stack was configured for VLAN121. It was changed to VLAN40 and the configuration saved. Both VLANs exist in the switch configuration. As soon as a host was connected (in this case, a label printer) the port VLAN reverted back to VLAN121.

I have a switch layer 6500 series connected to a firewall, the port configuration between them is layer 2, in another words I do not configure an IP address in the Cisco switch port to conected it in the firewall, but when a apply a policy on firewall it lose communication with others vlans, just the vlan that is connected between the switch and firewall works, attachment the design. I think that is necessary to configure the connection between the firewall and switch as layer 3 ( a port with IP address in the switch), but I would like to know why? The switch is configured with about 10 vlan and it is a inter vlan routing, a default route is configured in the switch where the gateway is the firewall.

This is what I know so far.4 Closets, each closet has 450 ports,One MDF room that is will contain one UCS Chassis and a Nimble iSCSI SAN.
I am working on the spreadsheet and it looks like this (Not totally filled):

For the MDF I would like to use 2 Nexus 5548's with FEX's, and the layer 3 daughter board. For the IDF's I was thinking of two 4010's.
