View 3 Replies View RelatedOur customer has a Cisco ME3600X with the IOS me 360x-universalK9-mz.122-52.EY3.They are saying that is not possible to configure the "switchport port-security mac-address sticky" in the interfaces and want to know whether any additional license is needed.As far as I know there isn't any extra license to activate this feature and also I believe the ME3600 switch should have this feature with the universal IOS, isn't that right?

The interesting this is that it is available on the admin VDC, but not the new VDC I created. I cannot create a peer VPC Peer link between my 2 Nexus switches. I did allocate ports to the new VDC and I did verify the enabled feature are the same.

The last few days I've been exploring options in getting rid of some old routers accross a wan connections. I have a cat 3560 to play with and I thought I would try and use the no switchport command test out routing with switch. I've got some type of route issue and I tried a few things which I thought would fix the issue but had no effect. I'll post the config and a few commands so you can see what the basic setup is.
Here we can see in the arp that it knows about both 10.7.1.2 (PC unable to ping 10.3.3.254) as well as 10.3.3.254 (ASA).I tried adding in a ip route of 10.7.0.0 255.255.0.0 10.3.3.110 as well as 10.3.3.254. Neither produced the results I wanted allowing 10.7.1.2 (PC) to ping the ASA (10.3.3.254). [code]
I have connected a 10BaseT device to a CISCO Catalyst 3560xPOE switch with dynamic port security. All seems to work fine when the distance between the two devices is closer then 200ft. When I connect to 10BaseT devices farther out near 300ft the response from the attached device is lost. It works ok on unmanaged switches at the longer distance. Is there a minimum response time from attached devices for dynamic port security to work properly? Is there any other explanation why it would work on cheaper switches, but not on the Port Secured Switch?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have set up 2 DHCP pools and 2 VLANs (1 *the native* for data / 1 VLAN for voice). When I use the command "switchport voice vlan 20" the port disapear from the show vlan brief list. When I use the "switchport access vlan 20" it shows up in the show vlan brief in the correct VLAN and gives the phone an IP. I assume that using the access instead of the voice is wrong and the phones would not configure correctly. But when I use the access the phone goes to the next step and tells me the TFTP files are not found. Why does the port disapear from the VLAN list?
View 8 Replies View RelatedWe have two catalyst 3560 switches running c3560-ipbasek9-mz.122-58.SE2.bin They are connected using etherchannel using gi 0/21 - 24 interfaces.
on 3560-1 switch, there isn't any ip-default gateway or ip route configured. It only have 1 interface vlan configured.
on 3560-2 switch, there is ip default gateway configured along with 1 interface vlan.
What i dont understand here is that, i can reach out to other subnets from 3560-1 switch in which the routing is not enabled?
My Company use Core Sw 4507R-Sup 7L-E with Enterprise Services License. I has upgraded to use iOS cat4500e-universal.SPA.03.03.01.SG.151-1.SG1.bin
When I use match protocol in class-map, there are only about 10 protocols, and not have those ones I need. I intend to expand the list of protocols to do some Policy-map by loading PDLM. But 4507 is no longer support NBAR. So do we have another way to set Catalyst 4507R with Sup 7L-E recongnize more protocols in match protocol command?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to enable port security on several 4507R's. When I try to configure a range of ports the switch will randomly put 1 or 2 in err-disable. It's different every time I apply the config to the same group of ports. However if I do them one at a time it seems to work. But I really don't want to configure 6 fully populated switches one port at a time. We also have a lot of 3750's and they gave me no problem using a port range. [code]

So I realized to use command "hw-module" to change the module to GE port. However, I am not able to use the command as" I cannot use the command "hw-module uplink" as well.
I am looking to find a command or counter to tell me if a cisco switch port on a 4510 was ever up and passed traffic. I want to shutdown all unused switchports on our access switches. But before I do that I need to make sure device is just not off or the person is away on vacation. If I do sh int interface, is there a counter I can reference.

When I perform a "show mac address-table interface g1/0/3" where the redhat machine is connected to, I see two mac addresses on this access port. One of the mac addresses, 0025.9006.4898, belongs the the redhat machine. the other mac address, I have no idea where it comes from. I tried to perform clear mac address-table dynamic g1/0/3 several times but it does not work either.

a switch port is shutdown, but when i use NO SHUTDOWN command it is working and shows administratively down. like this command does not affect on it. i should enable this port? what can i do btw, port is not in errdisable and portfast is enabled.

I have a a hardware server running a VM hosting virtual servers which are all on different VLANs. My challenge now is to configure the switchport that the server is connected to, to see all the VLANs needed by this VM. The VM has an IP that is used for managing the server VMs which is on a different VLAN also.
My switch is a 2960 switch and it is presently trunked from the core switch.
I have a 892 router configured on fa0 with vlan1 and a catalist 3560. On catalist all ports are in access mode and vlan1. When I'm connecting port fa0 from router to catalist, the catalist port is shuted down What should I do on router on catalist to make the connection working ?

Any way to test in a lab what would happen if a tech mistakingly added "switchport voice vlan XX" to a trunk port? I am try to do some RCA on an issue and this has been identified as a possible cause by one of my techs.
The config is Switch1------Switch2--------Switch3 Each interswitch connection is configured as a dot1q trunk with all vlans allowed. The link between switch2 and 3 is where switchport voice vlan 10 was added. Switch1 is a 3750 and 2/3 are 3560's.

the question is why is this showing that Gig0/3 is being used twice to connect to two different devices. I have verified there is no hub connected to this port and in fact Switch3 is not connected to Switch1 at all yet it still shows up in the CDP table.
I have cleared the CDP table on every device at this location and still get the same results.
I have a Cisco 2901 with the 4port gigabit ethernet switch module that I'm trying to get configured to have a seperate subnet for each port. So far I have it set up so each subnet is a vlan, then on each port I use the switchport access vlan command to tell it which subnet I want that port to be on. However, there is one port that I need to have 2 subnets on. The way I found to do that was to use switchport trunking on that port, but it doesn't seem to be working properly. how they would configure this? Right now I have vlan 101 as x.x.x.17/28 and vlan 103 as x.x.x.53/30. I think where I'm getting hung up is the proper association between the physical port and the vlan subnets.

We are using catalyst 2960S Lan Base IOS on Radio towers. We just bought 50 Accest points, thas are GPS synchronized. Problem is the APs need to be connected on L2-mac betwen each other. But at this time we are using port isolation on each switch (tower) by protected port function to isolate clients from each other.
My question is, is possible to specifi a Mac addresses in specific vlan thats can comunicate betwen protected ports? On tower is one Master unit and others are slave. I thing there is only 1 dirrection comunication - from master to slave.
I have configured a SVI in my 4500 ( Sup 7-E 10GE,,,,,,and,,,,,cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.02.00.SG.150-2.SG.bin) switch and it is showing Down Down, because there were no active switch port in the vlan, I added one switch port to this vlan but this port also in the down state, so i added the SWITCH PORT AUTO STATE EXCLUDE command under this port, even after this also the SVI never came up, So i added one systen to the port so both the switch port and the SVI came up...So why SWITCH PORT AUTO STATE EXCLUDE command have no effect in this model of the switch..
