Wireless Network Not Detecting?
Nov 16, 2011
I have an issue with the Wireless Network. I have an old Compaq Presario V2000 laptop with WIN XP SP3. I formated the laptop OS and installed all the required drivers. I have a Dlink DIR 300 wireless router to connect to the Internet. I switched on the Wireless button; When I tried to connect to my network in Network connecction, I can't see my SSID displayed in available netowrk connections, though I can see others available connection there. I checked, whether my Router is broadcasting the SSID or not, and yes it is broadcasting. I tried with the security type as "WPA-PSK" with AES as well as with "WPA2-PSK" with AES, nothing worked for me. FYI, my room mate can easily access the network on his Sony Vaio CS 15 laptop with any of these two security type.I am fed up . I tried rebooting the router as well as my laptop multiple times. When I manually connect to my network SSID from "Wireless Network" tab in connection configuration, I see a "X" sign over my SSID with a Tower mark.

I have a Lenovo laptop, and all of a sudden the wireless just vanishes.I notice that just before it cuts out, the music I am playing stutters for about 10 - 15 seconds before it happens. when it happens it cant detect any wireless and when i try to trouble shoot the issue it just tells me to plug in an ethernet cable. I check the wireless adapter settings in the device manager and it's working fine, I uninstall and re install. same problem.what I do find is, if I put the laptop to sleep and wake it up, it SOMETIMES works, but I can be doing this for 20 minutes or after one attempt another weird thing is, if I start it in safe mode it works fine. I have tried to look for all solutions on the web, tried everything, nothing works. currently it's working, but who knows it may cut out at any point..

I have a very basic WLAN setup with a 2106 controller and 3 (will be 4) 1140 APs.As part of securing the network I have been testing the rouge detection. The system has no trouble detecting and shutting down honeypots. I would like to also automatically shut down Rouge on Wire points. The system sees my test AP just fine. And I have it completely open (no security). But the system never detects that the rouge is on our network so no action is taken. I can connect just fine to the test AP with no encription using DHCP and communicate with everything on the network just fine.Is there some setting I am missing that allows the APs to detect that an AP is on wire?

I have just taken delivery of a new Inspiron N5110 with an Intel Centrino N-1030 wifi card. I also have two dual band routers (LInksys WRT600N) in different locations in the house.
My problem is that the laptop is detecting my routers Wireless-G signals but NOT the Wireless-N signals. I have checked to ensure that the N-1030 card has 802.11n Mode set to Enabled and have also tried both setting under "802.11n Channel Width for band 2.4" (i.e. Auto and 20 MHz Only) with no success.
My routers are configured with the Wireless-G signal only on 2.4 GHz and Wireless-N only on 5 GHz. I found this to be the best setting to avoid interference from neighbors wifi and cordless phones and have been happily using Wireless-N with my other Dell laptop with no problems (XPS M1530 with Intel 4965agn wireless card).Does the N-1030 card not work with 5 GHz Wireless-N?

My Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop has suddenly stopped detecting my wireless network. IT detects every other network in the area but mine. Other computers in the house have no problem detecting and connecting.Wireless is enabled, it happens no matter how close or far from the router. The network is set to broadcast the ssid, etc. I have not changed any settings on my laptop or router, this has suddenly started happening. Have updated drivers to no effect.Occasionally, the network pops up when I re-start the laptop. Rarely works and sometimes it will detect the network, then fail to connect, then the network can't be detected at all.

I have just given my Mum an old Dell desktop computer of mine. She has BT Broadband with a Homehub. I have connected everything up and installed the Homehub software on the computer but when it tries to search for the network connection via the BT software, it keeps saying the network card can not be detected. The network cable is plugged in and working. All the drivers are up to date.

I am using a gateway nv53a laptop with windows 64 bit. I actually have 2 of them. Internet worked fine for a couple years then it just stopped. I cannot connect through wired or wireless. Icon says no connections are available. When I trpubleshoot it says there is no driver installed. I have already tried downloading and installing the drivers. In the device manager it doesn't even have network adapters listed unless you go to view and show hidden. Then it only lists a bunch of miniports and a teredo tunneling pseudo interface. No network adapter is listed. I have do a factory reset and have even taken the wireless card out of my other laptop and installed into this one and it still doesn't recognize it. Running out of options.

For some reason, I cannot connect to my new build, yet everything else in the house connects.I thought maybe too many things were connected, so I unplugged everything and it is failing to work still. I am using the built in WiFi from my MOBO, and my antenna is detecting an excellent connection, but when I connect, it was giving me issues.

I have an HP Pavilion notebook that was given to me by a friend who had upgraded to a new computer. Due to the fact that she no longer remembered the password to the computer I did a clean install of Windows Vista Home Premium to gain access to the computer. Unfortunately, while the computer seems to be running perfectly, when I attempt to find network connections my computer not only can't find wireless connections, but it doesn't even allow the option of manually creating a wireless connection under my Internet options. My computer has a built in NVIDIA nforce Network controller listed under my network adapters and when I check its status it states that it is working properly, yet it doesn't detect any wireless networks. In addition to this, I've read online that the wireless indicator light on my computer should switch from orange to blue when turned on, but even with my wireless switched on the light remains orange.I've also clicked the update drivers option on the NVIDIA network controller, but it states that the drivers are current and changes nothing.

My PC usually shows me a list of wireless connections when i click on that icon.Today, however, it is not showing the list and displays the following message instead:'windows cant configure this wireless connection.' no list, so i am not able to connect to my network.i tried setting up a wireless network through wizard but to no avail. I dont know why this is happening. i got a new wifi modem. i cant even blame the new connection alone, because before that my pc at least used to show other inaccessible wireless networks in the list. but today it shows nothing.i have a windows xp.

Just re-installed windows on a laptop i got, i got all the drivers installed, but i cant seem to get the wireless card to show up, i know it has wireless because it was my moms laptop before she got a new one. Ive gone to dell support site and literately downloaded all the drivers on the page. Device manager doesn't seem to be detecting the card at all, the dell Wlan utility wont even start ive reinstalled the driver multiple times i even tried the intel site for drivers.
The big problem is i don't know what wireless card it is and its hard to find out because the support pdf for the laptop shows multiple possible cards.

I have attached screen prints in various formats. The machine is a PB Easynote TM01 laptop running Win 7, using built in wireless and for some time I have been exeriencing hit and miss internet/network wireless connections. With my limited knowledge I have managed to identify that two of the network adapters are not showing in Device Mnaager when there is NO connection but are showing when there IS a connection.I think this indicates a faulty (or knackered) network adapter.I now have no connection whatsoever and haven't for about a week.I have plugged the machine into the modem now and internet is fine, but what is the point of having a laptop that can't sit on your lap when it is plugged in.

I have an HP Compaq nc6220 that I just got up and running after an extended stint as a paperweight. It had previously worked great in terms of connecting to the internet via wireless. Now nothing. It let's me go into Wireless Network Setup Wizard and offers to let me set up new networks, etc...But as far as I can tell, it isn't detecting any networks (though they are all around me and detected on other computers) and giving me the option to log in.There is no "Device Manager" option that I can find on this computer, which some forum posts have suggested to other people with similar problems.

I turned on my PC this morning and I found I could not connect to the Internet. I have a few other computers and devices in the house that are ALL connecting to the Internet fine. I've tried basic things like unplugging /re-plugging the Ethernet cable, resetting router, attempting to set up a new network, system restore, running norton anti-virus to detect any potential problems etc all of which haven't resolved the issue.
I also checked my device manager to see if my drivers were up to date and I found that under 'Other Devices' my Network Controller stated that the drivers were not installed. I'm not sure if this is the issue (considering my Internet was working absolutely fine less than 24hrs beforehand) but I can't search the Internet to automatically find the driver for obvious reasons.
I found a few people suggesting to use the hardware id to find the appropriate driver, any direct link to the driver. My network controller hardware id is below:

url...My wife was using her Toshiba A215-S5837 and all of a sudden, wireless goes out. No networks to be found. I've tried any number of drivers I could find. I have also tried using the driver as suggested by many places (including the previous thread), found on the CZ site. No luck. I just tried safe mode and updating to no avail. Though Windows 7 is not kind about letting you install a driver initially. I uninstalled, and plug and play took over so I was forced to do it via update.

I have an E4200 and a WD MyBook Essential 2TB. They were working very well for the longest time, detecting a speed of USB 2.0. I had to get a new desk, thus had to disconnect all my devices, including the router. After plugging everything back in, the router only detects USB 1.1, even though the device is clearly USB 2.0.

I just bought a Studio 17 (1749). Got it all configured. It is a beauty. It has the DW 1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card.
The computer detects the 2.4 GHZ network seamlessly. It is unable to detect the 5 GHZ network.
I have a NETGEAR RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Router.
I have no problems connecting to this router with a Studio 15 laptop that I bought in December 2009. The Studio 15 can detect both the 2.4 and 5 GHZ seamlessly. I also have no problems connecting at 270 MB with a work Lenovo XP laptop with a Netgear Wireless-N USB stick.

When I click on the Wireless Network Connection icon it says "Wireless network unavailable." There's also an error message that says "The Dell Wireless WLAN Card is disabled. Use the Dell Wireless WLAN Utility to enable it." When I right click on the wireless network icon it says "No wireless networks were found in range. Make sure the wireless switch on your computer is on. To see an updated list, click 'Refresh network list.'" I don't have a wireless switch. I have a wireless enable icon and it says Enabled. My wireless network is working because my phone sees it and two other networks in the neighborhood. I couldn't find the Dell Wireless WLAN Utility. I also tried my iPhone hotspot. Laptop did not detect it either.

I purchased the E1200 Linksys Wireless Router on 11/26/12. The router worked fine until today. Without reason, the router stopped reading the internet cable/the port on the router stopped detecting the signal from the cable connected to the modem. I can plug the cable from the modem directly into a laptop and the laptop picks up the signal (using it to write this). I swapped out several DSL cables to confirm it wasn't a cable issue and it does not make a difference. I tried rebooting the router, resetting the router, and yet nothing works.

My E4200 works beautifully, and was working fine with the Toshiba 500 GB portable drive that I had on it for a week or so. I tried to plug in my WD MyBook Essential (Passed on the list of compatible drives), but the router is not detecting it. Further, when the drive is plugged in, the router stops receiving new wireless connections. Even if I reboot a laptop that was previously connected, it says that that the passkey is incorrect. When the drive is plugged in, I can't even log in to the 192.168.1.1 - it's as if the router creates a firewall around it and refuses every new connection on every port.

I'm building the use case to test / detect for rogue devices on the network. I have in my enviroment Lan controller 5500 controller with AP (aironet 3500). I want to detect for rogue devices/ap connected to my network. I know before i can see this activity on the network i have to configure the controller / ap to detect this behavior.
Authorize AP's against AAA function to make sure that all the AP's registering to your WLC are authorized AP's of the network.By enabling this feature, only those AP's whose mac-addresses are present in the authorization list, will be able to register to the WLC. url...
Using Rogue detection. feature, the WLC will be able to detect any AP that is not a part of its RF group and contain it. url...the forum I have seen other talks about the same issue and saying that if I have any APs in "Rogue Detection" mode sitting on the trunk port on the switch then only, this AP will detect the Rogue on Wired.
