I have been trying to share my dial-up connection from my vista to other system in my ad-hoc network but I always get error code 1061 saying:
Cannot enable shared access. Error 1061: The service cannot accept control messages at this time
How can I share a dial up VPN Broad band internet connection over wifi i want to share this dial up connection at my laptop over wifi what necessary hardware require to share internet wireless at my laptop.

They have high speed wireless at the base community center/coffee shop. I will be going there in 9 days to install the dir-615. She has a Dell Desktop with Vista Basic SP1, laptop with XP, IPAD2 and a NOOK Tablet. The dir-615 HVE1 with firmware 5.00na on the bottom sticker. She said she was able to go to web address, login, change the user name and password, started on the wireless configuration and she paniced. My question is basically this. by using a cat5 cable from the desktop to the dir-615 with dialup internet connected can the router be setup using the automatic method as opposed to manual. Our first priority is to be able transfer files to the 2 tablets without being connected to the internet like a switch and secondly If possible go on to the internet from a Tablet or the Laptop. I assume the second option would reuire internet sharing option when setting up the network and performance would be ugly.
Can get I get this router to work this way with just dialup to set it up

This config is working fine, when dialing in via a Windows Hyperterminal Dial connection. After a while of dialing I get the login prompt of the router.Now I want to have a router placing calls instead of a Windows Server. I can't figure out how to tell a router to place calls to a POTS phone number.

I am not too sure what other info I need to put here.My connection used to drop frequently (around every 5 min) and I would have really slow speeds (10ish kb/s). Recently, for some unknown reason, the dropping has stopped, but now I am getting speeds of around 9-15 kb/s.
The thing that has me COMPLETELY stumped is when I plug my laptop into the router, the wireless speed on my PC speeds up to, according to speedtest.net, 5.8 Mbps. If I unplug the laptop from the router,the speed on my PC slows down to .25 Mbps, yes - POINT .25 Mbps.I have attached the tester .

I have connected the Desktop PC to the router using a LAN cable, and laptop to router over WiFi. Both, PC and laptop are running on Windows 7 OS, are on same HomeGroup, have same username / password. We just built a new shop and are trying to get wireless throughout the whole thing. However the situation is unique.
The internet connection is actually a large area wireless connection. It is provided by DTN. Basically we have a dish type of thing on top the shop that picks up internet from a transmitter about 3 miles away. There is a large cable that goes from the dish into a Cisco 350 Wireless card in the computer.

We are given a static IP address from the company which is in the 10.1.x.x range. What my original plan was to use ICS to share the DTN connection to a wireless router that is connected to the LAN port of the host computer. However ICS only works for the 192.168.0.1 ip address. We have to use the 10.1.x.x IP that we were given, that cannot be change. So because of this ICS does not seem like it will not work, unless there is a 3rd party tool that can used.
Also anytime that I enable the LAN port on the computer now that the router is plugged in, the internet drops off. it looks like the computer is defaulting to the LAN connection instead of teh DTN connection (which shows up as a wireless connection to XP). Is there anyway to stop this from happening?
Other notes: Computer: It is a Core2Duo running windows XP Pro.
Also are there any routers that can be purchased that can use a wireless connection input for the LAN connection?

Basically, the laptop is getting a wireless connection from my Sprint Card, but I need to share a wi-fi connection with an iPod I'll be using to validate tickets. Unfortunately, there is no option to share the wireless connection when I click on the Properties for the connection. When I put in my WiFi settings, the iPod is able to login to the AP, but it cannot obtain an IP. It keeps doing this. Same thing happens with my Samsung Epic which runs Android. I can access the AP manager, and can configure it. Have tried using no security, but still no dice. Even turned off the firewall.
I can surf the internet on the laptop, but I simply can't share the connection with the AP. This is really important as I'm trying to get it setup by next weekend!
