I have wonder that my laptop has wireless, and when i connect it to router to use internet it show wireless now is connect, but when i open the website it show not work..and this problem occur only my computer. and when the other computer laptop they can connect and use internet normal...

I have been using the same Toshiba A105 for the past three years at work. Recently I had to reinstall XP and since then have not been able to connect to my works wireless/wired internet most of the time. I have no trouble connecting to my wireless at home or basically anywhere else except work. Once in a rare while it will connect to work but if it's wireless it's low connectivity and if it's wired it's prone to just drop out again randomly. Everyone else at work is able to connect wirelessly/wired without issue. I've tried static IP and changing my MAC addressThere are some unsecured wireless networks in range that I can connect to but don't want to for work transactions.

But now my connection has dropped massivly to 40kbs being the peak. The internet was faster in the stone ages -_-. Anyway, i want to figure out if its the wires in the area being faulty or as someone told me it might be my wireless router (Netgear). I'm trying to plug my laptop directly into the internet without the use of wireless to find out if it is the router being the problem. The only cable i could find an ethernet to ethernet cable. I've tried plugging into router and a bit that said modem and tried to set up a connection. It didnt work so connect my laptop to the internet without the wireless router.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a netgear router and an win xp desktop connected to each other through the ISP modem. The internet works great. Xbox live connected via through the netgear router(access point), works great. Now i just recently bought a power cord for an old laptop, charged it, working fine. Its a Compaq laptop, with a vista OS. My problem is not finding the router and/or connecting to it. I just cant seem to access the internet. It shows local connection only with an unidentified network, but it shows my routers name(LOTUS). There is alittle red X in-between the unidentified network and the internet. I pulled off the ip config/all on the vista laptop.

My laptop can't connect to the wireless internet at my workplace, but I can connect to the wireless internet at my house.I'm very sure that the wireless internet at my workplace works because all of my co-workers can connect their iPad, smartphones, laptops...etc to the internet.I just can't get my laptop connected. I entered the right password, and then the connecting status keeps changing back and forth between "Connected" and "Limited access". It also shows "Identifying... no network access" all the time.I really don't know what happened to my laptop's setting. I have tried to remove the wireless network from "Managing Wireless Network" and set it back up again, but it doesn't work at all.

The wireless setting say's I'm connected with excellent strength, also I have an IP address. I went to disk management and check for conflicts and noticed the PCI modem was yellow. I was told to disable it because I don't use a modem so it should not be a problem.

my laptop, as well as my moms laptop, were working perfectly fine on wedensday. Yesterday however, i was randomly getting kicked off the internet, and i came to realize that whenever both of our laptops were on, only one could connect to the internet. the other one couldn't find the DNS server or whatever.so, after some frustration windows finally told me (on my laptop) that two computers were sharing the same ip address on my network. made sense i guess. so i went to CMD, typed ipconfig /release on my laptop, but it said media was disconnected so it didn't work. i then went onto my moms laptop, typed the same thing in CMD, and it released it fine. but then her battery died so i plugged it in to renew her ip.
once her computer got enough of a charge to turn on i went to cmd and typed ipconfig /renew, but it wouldn't renew it, saying media was disconnected. so, now her laptop and my laptop will not connect to wireless.on my laptop, i transfered my documents to another HDD and did a fresh install of windows. but even since, my laptop will not connect to the internet. when i trouble shoot it it says something about no networking drivers are installed, but i can't even install drivers because i have no internet im on her laptop right now, it will connect via ethernet cable.

Some of the time it is fine, but at other times it will not connect to my home wireless network (or any other open ones I can find) despite the network being in full signal. The only advice offered by the troubleshooter is to reset the wireless router. This does work (but is very irritating to flatmates!) but doesn't prevent the problem recurring. Only my computer has an issue, and sometimes it will manage to connect to the internet by itself, seemingly spontaneously. The laptop is set to connect automatically, and when not working it also does sometimes attempt to connect, (i.e. it says 'connecting') but cuts out again before managing it. The problem can last for a few minutes or several hours.

Ok heres the problem i was using this setup to connect to my neighbores wireless internet with no problems for about 2 weeks(yes they know and are fine with me using it). But within the past week (actually all of a sudden it wont work) my program that came with the adapter shows alot of networks with full signals but when i connect to any of them it shows connected but wont actually bring up the internet. When i click on i.e. It says i.e. Cannot display the webpage. And if it actually does take me to google it will disconnect for no reason and reconnect to a random network thats available. my neighbors connection i was using just all of a sudden quit working and if i try to connect to it , it says cannot connect to frontier87. Also the other networks that show up sometimes will say the settings saved on this computer for this network dont match the requirements of the network, but sometimes the same network will connect but wont actually bring up the internet. I guess i just want to know what has changed to make me not be able to use a network that worked fine for me last week.

I don't have the CD so I've downloaded it from this website and it loads and installs and launches but ultimately can never find the router. Part of the problem may be because I have a Verizon Fios Router already at 192.168.1.1. with the wifi and DHCP turned off, in favor of an Asus router which works well. I have tried taking the Cisco Connect installation off the wifi and onto a wifi through the E4200 Wan or Lan ports, but it still can't be found. I am able to get into the E4200v1 setting manually this way and to change its ip address to avoid the Fios Router conflict. But nothing works. Maybe I need to put the e4200 in the 192.168.1.1 range instead of the Asus 192.168.5.1 range? [code]

2. I run my Cisco Connect app and it asks me to change my router admin password.
If I don't change it - I can not use Cisco Connect app.
If I provide my WiFi password then it changes my router admin password.
Maybe it was done to have a "simple" solution - 1 password for everything. But maybe its a bug because router admin password should be different from WiFi password fro security reasons.

I have an E4200 and I can not get WoL to work over the internet.(I'm assuming it's not actually going out to the internet when I wirelessly wake it using shawn.dynamicservice.com and the subnet, but rather the DDNS name is being resolved through the ARP cache, but I don't know. I'm still learning) Consequently, if the sentence above in parenthesis is correct, I am unable to perform WoL from outside my LAN. What am I missing?
