New Toshiba Laptop Won't Connect To Home Internet?

Dec 3, 2012

I just got a new Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5357. It's running Windows 8. I can't get it to connect to my home wifi--it just says "Can't connect to this network" and nothing else. I did unplug and plug back in the router (does that count as resetting?) and it didn't change anything. I just went to the library and it connected to that wifi without a problem. While there I uninstalled all Norton security products and installed AVG Free 2013. Still not working.

Dell :: Inspiron 17R Special Edition Won't See Or Connect To 5 GHz Wireless

Jan 9, 2013

I have an Asus Dual-Band Wireless-N (RT-N56U) that has worked wonderfully with my other 5 computers. Both the 2.4 ghz and the 5 ghz appear and connect as they should with my other computers. However, after purchasing my Dell Inspiron 17R Special Edition this year (Windows 8 comes preinstalled), I can see only the 2.4 ghz in the available wireless network lists. No matter what I do, I cannot see the 5 ghz wireless band connection with the Dell. I have several other computer in the same room that see it just fine, but the Dell does not. What do I need to do to get my Dell to see thisĀ  5 ghz connection?

HP Envy 14 Beats Edition Internet Running Slow / Not At All

Jul 7, 2011

I recently purchased a new laptop, the HP Envy 14 Beats Edition (i5 processor, 6GB ram) and the internet has been working great (Verizon Fios, MI424WR modem) until yesterday. My internet at that point went incredibly slow all of a sudden, on both firefox and internet explorer. I eventually managed to transfer over some antivirus/spyware/malware software, and found that I had the msiexec.exe trojan, among other trojans (or installers?) on the system. I've deleted what I could find. But, with such slow internet, I couldn't update any of the antivirus software, and eventually did a system restore to out-of-the-box conditions. Using a new internet connection (free wifi at a store), I easily downloaded AVG, Malwarebytes, and Spybot, all of which declared my computer clean. However, upon connecting again to my home internet connection, things ran really slow again.

Dell :: XPS 8500 Special Edition - Internet Drops Every 5-10 Seconds

May 6, 2013

I've been having an issue with my Dell, when it goes into Power Save Mode (not Sleep or Hibernate), my Graphics Card crashes and I can't see anything when I move the mouse to Wake Up my screen. This is something I have come to live with since I hear the Power Supply for my Graphics Card is too weak (AMD 7870). Sometimes, I have to do a Hard Reboot by holding the Power button and then restarting the computer.

I did that yesterday and realized that my internet connection keeps cutting every 5-10 seconds (literally). I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate. What I did so far was uninstall the driver and get the latest one. That hasn't worked at all.

I have 2 other devices connected to my Wi-Fi, a Dell Laptop that is working perfectly and a smartphone. Both of these haven't been dropping the connection at all. I'm thinking that either something became corrupt by doing my Hard Reboots or it's some kind of compatibility issue. I bought this computer in November 2012 and haven't had an issue like this since but now I can't do anything on web because it takes ages to visit websites.

Laptop Will Connect To Every Network Except Home

Sep 12, 2012

My laptop can no longer connect to my home network. It used to connect fine, but I was having problems with my graphics card as every time I went on Youtube it would crash. As a result, I sent it into ASUS (it is an ASUS K52J Series) and got the motherboard and the hard drive replaced. After this, my laptop seemed to be working great. It connected to a variety of networks, including 3 home networks, and 2 public networks. However, it cannot connect to the network in my apartment.

I know this network works and is connectable as my roommate's laptop works perfectly fine. So I know it is not a problem with my laptop since it connects to other networks, and I know it is not the network since other laptops connect to it. I've tried resetting my adapter, I've tried turning off the firewall. Also, I've tried the trouble shooting option numerous times after trying a variety of things that usually fix the connectivity, but it always says that the problem cannot be detected.

It's starting to be really frustrating, especially since I'm in university and sharing a laptop when both my roommate and I need to do work is not convenient.

HP Pavilion G Series - Laptop Won't Connect To Home Router

Dec 27, 2011

my newer laptop that I have only had for a few months will not by any means connect to my router at home. However, it does connect to pretty much any other router wherever we go. And there kicker is, the desktop I am on now, my phone, and pretty much everything else, WILL connect to my router (both n and g wireless devices). So, here are the details: My laptop is an HP Pavilion G Series, running Windows 7. My router is an N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router (WNDR3700). The computer I am currently using (and do the router config on) is running Windows 7 as well. The router has both a g and n setup (WPA2-PSK [AES] pass). Passwords for both n and g are the same, so there is never any confusion.

Laptop (lenovo G560) / Unable To Connect To Home Wifi

May 28, 2011

My laptop (Lenovo g560) runs windows 7 Home ed. About 3 months ago my parents changed the wifi password and so my laptop was unable to connect to our home internet, and I never bothered to fix it. It's been 3 months and now when I need to connect, it won't. The network appears in the list of detected networks, i correctly typed in the new requirements of the SSID, and when i press 'connect' it instantly pops up with 'Windows was unable to connect to XXXXXXX'. The modem is from Netgear. I've tried switching the modem off and on, the wireless activation swith on my laptop off and on, the Fn+F5 for wireless and bluetooth off and on, reinstalled drivers etc.I know its not a problem with my modem as wifi works for other mobile devices (like my iphone, other laptops etc), and my laptop has no problem connecting to the uni wifi network. There only seems to be a problem with connecting my laptop to the home network. Perhaps i've tried fiddling around with the 'properties' of the network too much and I've accidentally changed some settings i was not supposed to? how to restore the wireless settings of this network 'back to default' or in the state it was when i was able to connect.

Home Network :: Connecting Tv To Internet Via Laptop Wireless

Apr 9, 2011

Just got an HDTV, has a load of fancy internet stuff, but only has a wired connection and I can't put my router in this room, and would rather not have to run a wire up from downstairs.

I'm guessing there is a way of connecting to the wireless on my laptop in this room, connect the laptop to the tv via an ethernet cabe, and bridge the connections or something so that my tv gets the internet from the laptop. That's gotta be possible, no? When I try it tho, the connections bridge, but the tv says "Gateway is not connected, gateway address wrong or unavailable". Using auto IP.

Can't Connect To Internet On Home Router

Jan 17, 2011

I have been having problems forever connecting to internet at my apartment. My roommate has a Belkin router, and him and my other roommate have no problems connecting. I used to be able to get on it fine, however now I either get "connection unsuccessful" or "unidentified...(Belkin.3BC3) - Limited Connectivity" when I try to connect. Our landlord provides the internet, and we have the base router(not wireless) in our basement. But even when plugging into the wall with a ethernet chord I get local only. This is the only place I have any internet problems, anywhere else I can connect just fine.

For a little background, my son installed a router for a couple of months and when he disconnected his computer I lost connectivity with my desktop. The router is gone, I am directly connected to the modem. Seems like the ip address reverts back to the address that the router assigned for 30 seconds then to 169. ........ I have tried all sorts of fixes that I have found on the net, but none have worked. Have changed modems, ethernet cables, ISP has also tried but nothing has worked.

Unable To Connect To Internet With New Home Hub?

Dec 25, 2011

After recently having a new BT home hub 3.0 installed in our house my computer is unable to connect to the internet. Everything else connects laptops, PlayStation, iPod's just this one computer doesn't.

When the computer is turned on the wireless connection manager says that it is connected and then very quickly loses it again. After reconnecting the computer and trying to go on the internet, explorer says that it is not connected and i can not go to any websites.

Leaving the computer running, the wireless network establishes a link, with full signal strength and then loses it again just as quick. This will just continue for as long as the computer is on.

Computers is not a strength of mine but when trying to repair the connection the computer stops at 'renewing IP address' and does nothing. The only other message i have seen is- 'status: acquiring network address' this never completes and the link is quickly lost.
