View 1 Replies View RelatedI found two unknown computers on my network (using Explorer). I have a wireless setup at home (private) with a desktop (wired), two laptops and a phone (wireless). The encryption is WPA2/TKP with a hard to guess password. The two unknown computers were connected this morning and a few minutes after I tried to access them and do some checks, they disappeared could they have been watching me? I didn't check the router page until then and of course, they weren't there. Also, yesterday I was at a coffee place, so could it be that this is nothing and those two computers are from people at the cafe? Is there anything I can do to make sure nobody can access my network, unless it's the computers I want. I haven't manually set up a home network yet. [code]

My router is totally unplugged and disconnected, and I am still currently connected to my password protected network. Network authentication is set to WPA-PSK and Data encyription is set to TKIP. I cannot access my router's admin panel, even if I try 'admin' for just the password. I tried hard resetting my router (holding reset for >30sec, unplugging, plugging back in)-- nothing, and the network still shows up.

View 3 Replies View Relatedwe were having problems with our netgear router (DGN1000) mainly with connection when online gaming with PS3, generally poor connection - so purchased a TP-Link router (TD-W8960N). We could usually access the netgear wirelessly on our laptops Dell and Acer Aspire 4820T (both Windows 7) without any problems and were still doing so last night. However hubby attempted to install the new router last night and all seemed to go fine but after installing we couldn't connect to the wireless network through laptops, iphone ps3 etc - even though we could see the network with excellent strength, after hours of trying called TP-Link they went through everything they could think of and still no joy. Gave up in the end and went to reinstall the netgear Router and now we have the same problem with this router, even though earlier in the night it wasn't a problem - we deleted the previous networks so there was nothing stored in memory & tried everything we can think of (although neither of us are brilliant with IT we do usually get by).We even set up an unsecured wireless network (on both routers) and still couldn't connect .
View 14 Replies View RelatedI had an old G router that had an unsecured network. It died and I replaced it with an N router and installed a secured network. I have a cable modem with wires that goes to the router. From the router, I have CAT 4 wires going to several access points around the house. Into one of these acess points, I have pluged in a wireless access point that broadcasts wirelessly---unfortunately, it is broadcasting the old unsecured network. How can I make the wireless access point broadcast the new secured N network?

My nexus 7 says "authenticating" then says "network saved" then switches back to "authenticating". My friend's phone just gets stuck on "network saved". My iPhone and most other devices, including a different android phone, are in fact able to connect with no problems. I have tried resetting the router, but I am afraid that is all I will be able to do with regards to the router.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys E2500 router. Is it possible to have one network name for the secured network and a different network name for the Guest network? The thought is to not have the SSID of the secured network broadcast while allowing the SSID of the Guest network to be broadcast. With the convention of simply adding "Guest" to the end of the SSID for the secured network, it defeats the security option of not having the SSID of the secured network broadcast.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have a Cisco ASA 5520, and we're creating an IPSec VPN to another Cisco ASA. We have multiple VPNs on this firewall.
The issue with the latest one is they require a Public IP as the Local Encryption Network. I've seen this question a couple times while searching but never really a definitive answer.
Would using the "Outside-Network" as the local encryption network, then natting the appropriate IPs be sufficient? Or would this not work at all?
Our Public block is X1.X1.X1.64 - X1.X1.X1.79, our Peer IP X1.X1.X1.66. Would using X1.X1.X1.64/28 as the local encryption network make the connection? Then NAT the needed IPs from our DMZ X2.X2.X2.71 as X1.X1.X1.71 to the client?
Would this work or am I way off the mark (I'm by no means an ASA expert, and an ASDM explanation would work over command line).
Edit: Or would I have to create a new Global Pool made up of Public IPs on a different subnet mask than our actual Public IP address pool. And make that our Local Encrypted Network? I think this might be it, but could it cause IP overlapping? Our webserver is part of this and I'm worried about causing connection issues.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI travel some for work. When not traveling my laptop connects directly to my company's intranet via a standard Ethernet connection. While on the road I use a wireless modem to pick up hotels wireless Internet. I connect and then log into a VPN to access my email and websites. This has always worked very easily incubus unsecure public routers.
However twice now , and both times on secure wireless I cannot even connect. My laptop easily finds the signal, usually really strong I click to connect and it never passes " validating identity". I know the secure routers password but it never even comes up to ask for it. Like I said it seems like it only happens on secure wireless routers. In this case it's frustrating because it's when I visit family and their home routers are set up secure with password.
I'm just wondering why my computer is being associated twice before being secured and linked when it obtains an IP address from the DIR 655 router. I am using the DWA-552 wireless card to connect to it. When I first started using them together, this wasn't happening. Then, all of a sudden, one day it just started showing "above message repeated 1 times" just below the log entry for the client being associated".

I don't think a flash drive is needed for this process, but as I am not even sure what this process is, I'm rather confused. What exactly is Windows asking of her right now? Her main thing is just to be able to connect to the Internet securely and easily.
