I want to connect my laptop to the wifi and share it to a separate router with a WPA2-PSK so that i have a more secure connection on the play station. Now first is this even possible to do? I use to beable to share my internet connection from my phone through my laptop to my ps3. Now when i try to do that just with the wifi in the hotels it doesnt have a high enough security setting.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a WRT160 V2 router with firmware v2.0.02. I have had the router for years without any problems. A few months ago I have started to see an issue where I lose connection to my internet on my laptop, and wifi on my phone at the same time. I have wifi calling on my phone and it disconnects also at the same time. All of a sudden, everything will stop working, then about 40 seconds later, it all works again. I lost the connection maybe every 30 to 60 mins. I rely on wifi calling for my primary phone, and I end up getting cut off when talking to people. BTW wifi calling is for all tmobile phones, but also normal wifi to surf the web on my laptop and phone drops too at the same time.

View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently, due to some reason I have not yet figured out, my laptop has started bugging out with the wi-fi and connecting to my wireless connection at home. What it does is it keeps trying to connect, and sort of connects. It gets that little yellow triangle, and says Limited Connectivity. When I check the status, I am in fact getting an IP address, and everything SEEMS to be in order. On my router's configuration page, however, I cannot see my laptop's MAC address in the list of attached wireless devices. The internet does seem to work for about a few minutes every time I restart the router.
At first I thought it might have been an IP conflict issue, so I tried setting up a static IP on my laptop. Then I tried reserving an IP for my laptop through the router. Then I tried both. And while all three attempts seemed to have fixed the problem, it came back within a few minutes.

Unable to connect to internet via laptop + desktop to wireless Linksys router. Model=WRT300N.
Connection worked fine on my laptop before, however, stopped working approx 3 days ago.In attempt to resolve connection issue, I de-install linksys software from my desktop, now I cannot execute setup due to the fact that I cannot connect to the internet.
Laptop with Windows XP Pro, connected to the network via Wifi, and set up as a remote desktop host. Can not establish a remote desktop connection with this laptop. Log-in screen is presented, but the desktop never appears on the client machine. Connecting the subject laptop via an Ethernet cable, cures the problem, and the connection succeeds, so we can rule out problems with RDT configuration, firewalls, and third party software. The laptop is a Dell D610, with a Dell 1370 WiFi built in. It has been configured so Windows manages the connections.

My problem is that yesterday when I turned on a laptop that I use only once a week or so, now shows the signal strength of the network but I can not gain access to it. The main error message I get when I troubleshoot is that the network connection has come unplugged.Yes, I have the wireless switch turned on, on the laptop. That was the first thing I checked. I uninstalled cisco software on the laptop and reinstalled it and the laptop will not connect to the network.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new E4200 with two desktop computers using it with no problems. I also have a work Thinkpad laptop that I use a couple of times a week from home. Since day one of installing the new router, I have experienced the blue screen of death numerous times during the day (the number of times varies from 1 to 6 on a really bad day). I believe this is happening when I lose my connection to the router. I can see it trying to reestablish itself but the VPN will drop the connrection before it has a chance. I never lost my VPN connection until the day I installed the new router. Yesterday, at least one time it was unable to reestablish connectivity with the router and I had to reboot the laptop to get it connected. Could this have something to do with the IP address? I do not have any issues with the laptop when I am at work using a docking station.
So, I am wondering why I am constantly losing connectivity on the laptop only. The laptop has Windows XP and I am using AT&T Global Network Client to access the work network. Is there a setting somewhere that will fix this? Our IT folks rebuilt my laptop and I am still experiencing the same problem. I checked and I have the current version of the firmware for the router.

View 19 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an E1200 to replace a broken router. I have had good experiences with this model in the past which is why I bought it. However this has not been so pleasant. For some reason the internet connection over wifi is INCREDIBLY slow. I don't know why. It is fast when connected via ethernet to the router. I changed the MTU on the router to 1400, I set the wireless width to 20MHz and the channel to 11. I set security to WPA2. And yet it is still very very slow. It's not a matter of how many users are on the network; I live in a house with five other people and it's slow regardless of whether everybody's home or nobody is home. It's like this on Macs, PCs, phones and even the Xbox 360. I just did a speed test. Wired was about 14MBps down, wireless was around .7MBps down. I simply cannot comprehend this discrepancy. The old router was very unreliable in terms of connectivity but at least it was always fast. And my laptop is fast at my mom's house where she has an E1200. I use a MacBook Pro from 2009 but like I said, this seems to be affecting everybody in the house regardless of hardware. The modem is a Ubee modem from Comcast. I'd upgrade it to a SURFBoard but my landlord controls all the utilities and I'd rather not have to explain to him how to call Comcast and tell them to register the modem's serial number to the account or whatever.

I bought it for a few Euros in France where it is known as the "SurfOne mini PC Ref. INOS1CE"; I think it is the same as the Chinese "OEM mini laptop netbook". It has a 7" screen, a 2 MB memory and claims to run on Windows CE 6.0.My problem is that after successfully connecting via WiFi to my "Orange Livebox" modem and router for a few days, I then lost that connection and can connect now only by cable. When I turn on WiFi power, it recognizes the "Livebox", but then states that it is not receiving any signal and the connection fails. (see my setup below) Here's the result of the first attempts (Node Type and IP Address are NOT good)IP range NOT good 169.254.x.x .Second and temporarily successful attempt (Node Type and IP Address are good) IP Range IS good 192.168.x.x.I know it would be easier to simply buy a Wi-Fi network card for my PC but I would rather learn how to do this manually.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have experienced some strange behavior of WiFi connection using WRT320N router. ISP provides me the internet in 2 modes (day and night). During day mode max speed is 24 Mb/s and during night 60 MB/s. Modem ADSL (Cisco EPC3010) is connected to Linksys WRT320N and on router is configured WiFi.Now issue. In the day mode everything is perfect. Cable connection gives me 24 MB/s and WiFi connection around 22 MB/s so not so bad. However when my internet speeds up to 60 Mb/s (cable connection via router gives exactly 60), WiFi connection instead speed up as well, just drop to max 17 Mb/s. I have tied several different settings on the router including changes in WiFi band, channel width, different channels (now channel is setup to 1 which is maybe not totally free but no so occupied) and others but unfortunately without significant improvement (in many cases connection just slowed down more).
And some details:
Wireless configuration (now)
Band: 2.4GHz
Mode: Wireless-N only
Channel Width: Auto (20MHz or 40 MHz)
Channel: 1
Wireless adaptor: Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 (I know that this doesn’t mean anything but Win7 shows that connection is established with speed 144MB/s)Router firmware and WiFi card updated to the newest version.
My laptop is reading a full WiFi signal from my router. I am currently connected to the router via Ethernet on the same laptop. I've been reading tons of old threads to troubleshoot this. I'm at a loss. I have used this current networking hardware for more than a year without any problems. I do have a pretty old router but my iPod connects to the WiFi no problem at the moment. Here's what I've tried so far:
- soft reset of router
- power cycle modem and router
- removed saved network information from the laptop

All other lap tops and wireless devices in the house do not have an issue.I discovered the other day as long as the laptop ( not the router) is plugged in and not running on batter power that i do not have a problem staying connected. For fun i wondered if it had something to do with the power cord making some kind of connection when plugged into the lap top, (since everything is more compact in them)I tried having the power cord plugged into the lap top but not into a power source but I still lost signal.
