Why To Get Kicked Off Internet When Using Public Wifi
Aug 12, 2011
I always get connected with no problems, then as soon as I try to do anything (check e mail goole something) I get disconnected either there is no internet access or no network access. I've tried different firewalls and using chrome browser rather than explorer, but the problem persists.
My two desktop iMacs and iPhone keep getting kicked off the wireless Internet. We have a modem from Time Warner and the Apple Time Machine as our router, with the Airport Express as a signal extender. We keep getting kicked off the Internet. Then in order to get back online, we must turn the wifi off and then on again - If we don't, our network doesn't even show up as an option. I know it is not the modem because we checked it with Time Warner. On the computers it shows a full signal, but on the phone, it shows fewer.
Why do i keep getting kicked off the internet? I'm using time warner cable connection, with a motorola surfboard modem. I am directly connected to the modem. Sometimes it works for 5 mins. sometimes 5 hours. The little internet lite on the modem goes out while playing games ( everquest ) and while surfing the internet. It comes back up shortly afterwords as well.
I work at a Public Safety building in Pennsylvania and our employees here share a Wifi connection with a local hospital facility that is in a industrial park behind us. The room we work in is able to access the Public Wifi but only half of the room has a good connection. I went to the local computer store and purchased a Belkin Dual-band wireless Range Extender and got it all set up, now I have the Public Wifi Extention access and it will connect to it but it has no internet access. Now we have no access to the administor or the network from our facility. How do i get internet access thru this range extender? If i connect from the good half of the room to the Public wifi i have a good connection with internet access but as soon as you put it thru the extender no more internet access.
My router at destination 2 (other home) for this computer randomly just kicks me off the net. when I'm on laptop on the same modem/router ip it does not do this. Its not completely disconnecting from the modem its just coming up with every 5 mins " No Internet connection" Iv tried restarting it disconnecting everything I can think of.Now somebody told me its about me having a dynamic IP.
Im having problems with several laptops in my school losing their connection to the wireless points. The wireless access points we user are proxim ap700. The laptops are all different makes running windows xp pro sp3.
The thing is, if I take the security off the waps then then laptops work fine. However, with the wpa2 security key that these access points have been using for 3/4 years, suddenly laptops are getting kicked off. Only a 'repair' on the wireless connection reconnects them.
I switched from a DLink DIR-655 to a Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH recently and have been having problems keeping a wireless client bridge connected. The bridge in question is a Linksys WGA600N, and though it has been as solid as a rock with the DLink I find myself resetting it often to reconnect the device to my network under the Buffalo. The bridge has been flashed and reflashed to its latest FW and the router has been flashed with different versions of DD-WRT (Buffalo's versions and vanilla DD-WRT versions; currently on vanilla DD-WRT v24-sp2 build 14896), yet I'm still experiencing the same problem. Fuddling around with the some of the wireless settings like the wireless channels on the router seems to keep the bridge connected a little longer than usual, however once it disconnects the frequency of drops goes up again. Other wireless clients on my network don't seem to have this problem with exception to another bridge (WHR-HP-GN) that I returned due to becoming catatonic to both wired and wireless connections.
For some reason I cannot connect to a local public wifi location that I frequent. It has really been a problem. Everyone around me connects no problem but I do not. I have no problem connecting to other locations.below is network environment.I have Mcafee and running windows 7. I use netgear modem and hawking 300n extender. [code]
New Dell laptop w/Windows 8 OS. Cannot access wifi in local cafAt network & sharing center - Access Type: No Internet Access - Getting full signalHave McAfee Antivirus Plus installedHad this problem before and completely uninstalled/reinstalled McAfee. Problem was solved temporarily
I am able to connect perfectly at home but no longer in public areas such as Starbucks, etc. I do not get the public website to agree to the terms and connections. My laptop tries to connect to my homepage and skips the log on page then freezes and I receive an error message that there is no internet connection. When I go to "Data Sharing Center" it states that I am connected.
I like to create a village-wide wifi network...The purpose is to provide a public service so although we'd have to charge to cover capital and operating costs but the purpose would be to run it on a non-profit basis. If it does by chance make a profit it would be donated to local community projects so we should be able to get support from local business and residents if the technical solution requires their collaboration.
So there are two VLAN's traveling over the port attached to the controller (User vlan 100, and Guest vlan 102). I need to block the guest from everything but the internet allowing the free flow of everything else on the User vlan. All info sanitized of course.I think I have the ACL's correct for what I am trying to accomplish I just can not get this ACL to work on a trunk port.Confirmed the ACL to work correctly on access ports however.

Anyway, I have a Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4056 with Win7 Home Premium 64-bit. I've had it almost a year now and have never had trouble connecting to public wifi.Recently, I moved into a new apartment with free wifi and I seem to catch the signal from my apt even though it is poor. Every time I try to connect with my Toshiba it says, "Windows is unable to connect to 'linksys'." However, my husband's HP laptop and my old eMachines laptop (7yr old) (which I am using to research the problem) can connect with absolutely no issues. When I go to the clubhouse, my Toshiba can connect, however it cannot identify the network and does not receive an actual internet connection.
So far, I have uninstalled/reinstalled and updated my network adapter (Realtek RTL8188CE), I've used Command Prompt ipconfig /reset and ipconfig /release along with several other commands suggested to other wifi connection problemsI've checked my DHCP and DNS to ensure they're enabled. As for firewalls, I have turned off windows firewall and have disabled Kaspersky protection, however I have yet to uninstall and reinstall, this being because I can connect to a password prompted internet connection at work.I am unsure how to check my IP address or any of that
i have a acer laptop running windows 7 ultimate. I am unable to connect to public WiFi hotspots. But i m able to connetc to ad hocs and my mobile WiFi hotspot
I just moved into an apartment where the internet is being provided to me via wifi (open). The landlord doesn't have a private network, he is with me. What I'm was curious about is if it is possible for me to use a second router to create a secured network for all my devices? My thought would look like this: ISP>Landlords Router>wireless>MyRouter. I know you can have private and public wifi but the two routers have to be connected. I haven't talked to him about the fact that he needs to secure his router mainly because we never cross paths.
i have angels online installed in my laptop and now i'm in the hospital and i'm trying to use angels online, i was able to update the new patch for the games which shows that the internet works but when i try to connect to any of the servers it says that the connection to the server failed. how do i get my online game to work with the public internet?
I live near several public hit spots. A geek told me I could configure my PC (XP) or laptop (Win 7) to act as a wifi receiver and connect that to my wireless router to distribute the Internet connection to my Blue-ray and other laptops. I can't figure out the correct steps to make it work.
I've got a Dell laptop with Windows 7 and I'm unable to connect to public wifi. I have a home wireless connection that I'm able to connect to, and I'm able to connect at friends houses. But when I try to connect at a local coffee shop, it doesn't work.
I'm using a Dell Vostro, running Win Vista with all updates. I have Trend Micro Titanium and Comodo Firewall. I primarily use Firefox (completely updated) but also have IE 9. Until a few days ago I regularly connected to various public WIFIs, by: connecting to the WIFI network, opening Firefox which would then automatically take me the network's (Panera for example) user agreement page, clicking on "I accept" or "I agree" then gaining access to the internet. Two days ago I was at a local establishment where I have connected before. I connected to their network and opened Firefox as usual. Instead of connecting to their user agreement page as usual, Firefox tried to connect to my homepage (Washington Post) and failed.
The network icon in the sys tray showed I was connected to the local network but with local access only. This has now happened three times in three different public locations over the past 2 days. Each time I've successfully connect to the network but when opening Firefox or IE9 I am not directed to the user agreement page and therefore am not gaining access to the internet.Normally in the past once I had connected to the local network and opened my browser Comodo would open a warning window asking me if I wished to continue. This also is no longer happening as Comodo is not detecting me being connected to the internet, I'm sure.
I am trying come up with a setup that allows for a computer to simultaneously be connected to the web via a secure wireless network and to provide a shared drive via an unsecured (possibly ad hoc) wireless network.Which is to say, the computer needs to be able to use the web wirelessly via the secure network, and people need to be able to share files with it wirelessly whether or not THEY can use the secure wifi. One last requirement is that I need a this to be something that I can set up in a given location with no more configuration than required to connect to the secured wifi - if the setup requires me to mess around with the configuration of the router for the secure network itself, it won't work.
One of our vendors requires using a public ip address to setup a site-to-site IPSEC vpn. We only have one public ip address and that will be used for the vpn endpoint and for internet access for the local network. I've setup policy NAT from our local network to the outside interface. I'm also using the outside ip address for the crypto map. The tunnel setups successfully and the Tx count increases anytime I try to ping the remote network, but the ping fails and the Rx count does not increase. According to our vendor, we should be able to ping the remote network and connect using port 443. When trying to connect using port 443, I see a SYN timeout in the logs. I'm not sure if the problem is on their end and they're rejecting our traffic, or if something is misconfigured on our end. I'd like to make sure that I have everything configured correctly before I go and point fingers at them.
Local Network - 10.10.9.0/24 Remote Network - 20.20.41.0/24 Remote Peer - 20.20.60.193 .ASA Version 8.2(5) ! hostname ciscoasa
i need to allow https traffic to a server in the DMZ that will have a routable IP address will just an ACL suffice ?which interface do i apply it to ? wan or dmz ?i dont need a NAT since the DMZ is a routable space?
I have just setup the 3G Wifi Router (Huawei 3G21WE) for my company at remote site for temporary use.Now we want to monitor the DVR and cameras installed on the site from head office but i am unable to do it.I have done the port forwarding on the router and using Dyn DNS and configured it correctly, but i cannot browse it from internet.I have also noticed that i am unable to ping the public IP/DynDNS from internet. also i cannot find any option to disable the firewall on my router.
Any ASA 8.4(3) and VPN Client for Public Internet VPN Configuration Example? I followed this discussion, I can connect to vpn but failed to access internet and local network device?
In my office we have a private LAN of 10.0.0.0 having no access to internet/broadband. To connect to internet, we do it by using broadbandconnection/Modem from MTNL. Both things require a separate NIC card. My query is "Can I use my BroadBand Modem to connect to internal LAN". I have heard this is possible by some suitable changes in Current Control Set in Windows
t's been 4 days in a row now that I can't access wireless Internet on my laptop at a public library that I visit regularly. I have no trouble accessing wireless Internet anywhere else. For several months I have been using wireless Internet at the same library on the same laptop without any problem.Windows troubleshooting message: Windows can't communicate with the device or resource primary DNS serverThe wireless network at the library has no Authentication, it is while accessing a Web-site that it it automatically goes to a page where members have to login, however this hasn't been happening for the last 4 days. I'm able to connect to the network, but with no Internet access. I guess because the DNS won't respond. Here is what I already tried: Disable the firewall and see if that works properly Boot in Safe Mode with Networking and see if it works that way TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Vista or Windows 7 I installed Mozilla firefox.... still no luck[CODE]
We need to deploy a Cisco ASA 5510 behind the Internet facing router for Remote Access VPN (RAVPN). We bought the block of 16 IPs (in a different subnet) which is routed through the main router (69.x.x.x)and configured the outside interface of ASA with a public IP 64.x.x.x and subnet mask 255.255.255.240. Below is the network structure.
